I am new to the area and just started shopping at this store. I have to say the meat counter is phenomenal, the produce is beautiful and the store is very clean. Their deli has a variety of hot food options daily. The employees are so friendly and willing to help when there is something I can't find on my own. This store is great for everything, but let's be honest all grocery stores do a good job. What urged me to actually write a review is the produce section!! We all need to mix in the healthy stuff and I literally drive almost 15 minutes out of my way just for the produce here. Also what was refreshing and cool to see, their collection of hot sauces! I know that sounds funny but what a cool thing for them to go out of their way to deliver such a selection of a niche market we all love. Kudos! See you tomorrow in the produce section!! read more

5 stars! Why? Because I feel like I had one heck of an experience. An experience where I felt like I just stepped out of a Time Machine made out of a DeLorean. Last time I was in Oakridge market, I think it was 1995. Guess what? It still looks the same. In fact, I don't think they have changed a darn thing since 1988. The PA soundtrack is still playing the same songs from 1988. A lady still comes over the PA system to announce in-store specials. Do you think you can hear it? Not at all. The audio system is terrible. And for this, I absolutely love it!The dust on the hair care products is from 1988. All the signage is from, you guessed it- 1988! I'm not making any of this up. Why do I love this place? It's nostalgic. It's a step back in time. When things were simpler. There was no cell phones. Maybe pagers or "beepers" were making the scene. When you want to go grocery shopping and avoid all the crowds, this is your place. You will find what you need and you will definitely be in the moment. Or at least in the decade. The decade of the 80s. Check it out before they go out of business! read more

This is definitely the store to go if you want to get out of the hustle and bustle of big chain grocery stores! They have the beat deals specifically on lunch meat and beer/wine/liquor. They also have a wonderful array of polish food/brands which I love! Biggest complaint is the customer service is almost always lacking, specifically in the deli department. You can usually find those employees complaining to each other, and one of the guys that works back there usually has a huge attitude and has said rude comments under his breath many times about customers. As far as check out it is hit or miss if you get someone "kind" enough to even say any kind of greeting. If you want a quick grocery trip I'd recommend this place, just don't expect to be engaged by employees. read more

We bought a fresh fruit tray, the next day we got some of the fruit and it was terrible, it had already gone bad, date on it said it had a few days left. The fruit tray had a sticker from the store with date right on it, my wife lost the receipt. The store wouldn't give us our money back or store credit, we have spent a lot of money there over the years, but no longer, they just lost a customer for good. read more

A friend of mine ordered 120 pieces of chicken fora memorial. When he went to pick it up for the memorial they had no idea there was a chicken order. He ordered and paid for it 2 weeks prior. They had the audacity to tell him he should have called to make sure it was gonna be made! We all had some chicken it was sooo dry you couldn't even cut it. Just went in to get a couple of sale items but the smell of fried chicken through the store caused me to wonder over to the deli, and glad I did got 8 pieces to bring home 2 breast 2 thighs 2 wings and 2 legs. The flavor of this chicken was awesome spiced perfectly and very moist. $8.99 for this. I'm not sure if priced right or not but one thing this was well worth it. This is about as basic and as dirty of a grocery store you'll ever see in the United States. I must say the people working at the deli counter really are some of the the stupidest people on earth. They never get a request right or find a requested meat displayed right on the glass of the display case. Morons... The cashiers are the most disconnected/disinterested people you'll ever interact with, no greeting, no communication and also some rude attitudes... On June 19, 2021 my Wife (who is WHITE) and I (who is BLACK) between 4:40pm and 4:50pm, entered the checkout line at "OAKRIDGE SUPERMARKET" 31240 Groesbeck Highway, Fraser, Michigan 48026 (586) 296-7230. There was a White Female Cashier and a Tall White Male Bagger standing at the checkout counter when we entered the line. I placed all the grocery on the conveyor belt and walked down the end of the counter and positioned my cart so that the bagger could place OUR grocery in the cart. The cashier and bagger were standing and watching my wife and I. The bagger bagged all our food but refused to place it in the cart I was standing there holding. WATCH THE VIDEO TAPE FROM THE STORE. It wasn't until I asked him, "what,  we don't look like we belong together? don't look like we match?" he "mumbled so words", didn't deny my question, and just looked at me. I then asked him, "so what you don't think we're together because she's white and i'm black?"  Again, he didn't deny it but only mumbled some words. My wife and I wear wedding rings and there is only one reason he would violate my civil rights and discriminate against me, "because of my interracial martial status". At 5:09pm, after we returned home I called the "Manager at Oakridge", the first time I was put on hold by a young female then I called a second time and a male answered and  "hesitated", then said "He was the MANAGER and his name was "MIKE',". I explained to MIKE what happened and he NEVER apologized but begin making excuses for the blatant racism. MIKE further told me there isn't much he could do because "he don't know who the worker is". I repeated 10 times that "JUST LOOK AT THE VIDEOTAPE IN YOUR STORE", he became silent and I ended the call. Simply because MY WIFE IS WHITE AND I AM BLACK AND WE ARE MARRIED? We will never shop there again and action needs to be taken because "MANAGEMENT" by ignoring and making excuses and not apologizing, condones this racist conduct and NO BLACK PEOPLE OR INTERRACIAL COUPLES should ever shop here again. read more

Everyone I knew in high school, at some point, worked for Oakridge, myself being the exception. Why this place had a turnaround of kids as short as fast food places (that is, some people I knew that worked there did so for very short periods of time) I'll never know. But Oakridge is an independent market that has fantastic prices. I haven't been able to quite appreciate how good their deals were until I had to purchase groceries for a family of 3. Were I to go to any chain supermarket without coupons, I'd definitely spend a lot more at the chains than at Oakridge. They just have awesome sales. And considering I absolutely refuse to give Walmart a dollar of my money, it helps having an alternative that's similar in pricing but not a pipeline of money to China. As far as sales go, they have exceptional prices on meats. I'd recommend this place over any other just on the merit of the meat selection. Though I would also say that just with general groceries they're fantastic too. We've been coupon clipping like mad, and we still can't get deals every week on the basic things we need - things like bread, milk, eggs, veggies, and the like. Quick calculations in my head when we go to other stores shows that we save about a buck on everything we buy. That being the case, you definitely need to check them out! read more

Oakridge supermarket have good deals on allot of items and surprising prices on allot of items ( Not all bad ) I usually come here when they have " on cor " Veal patties on sale ( 4 for $5 and sometimes 5 for $5 ) This place isn't really my main grocery shopping store but a good place to do a quick run in for this and that. read more

Not a large selection of food. Prices are higher than large chain grocery stores. I like supporting small, family-run local businesses but this store is dirty and needs to be updated. The deli area was decent and they had a good variety of meat, some of which I can't find at the larger chain stores. I will come back to Oakridge Market simply because it's close to home and they have a decent deli. If they want to stay competitive they need to do something about their high prices and make the store more attractive. read more

Their chicken is good and we have picked up a couple items here that we can't find elsewhere however... you really have to look at expiration dates on the shelf. They have LaRosas sauce that we live but saw the expiration dates on the jars were really old. Now not nearly as expired as previously but you still have to check. Yes their fried chicken is really good but now seeing expired items on shelves I have to question cooked items and what's used. The store definitely needs a thorough cleaning and updating because in some areas things are really dirty. But hey... guess you get what you pay for? read more

Old school all the way. Even an elevated 'manager' station at the front of store. Bottle return machines are the first thing you see when you walk in... And they're the worse in town, better not be in a hurry if you have a bag load. Their sale prices are competitive with the big stores, otherwise prices are generally higher (unless you take advantage of double coupons - yup they still do that). They use soda as loss leaders, like the big stores, so expect a Pepsi or Coke sale weekly. The deli is cheaper than the big stores. Not as much selection, but $2 a lb. less than Kroger is typical for popular brands. Their meat department: Be careful, if it doesn't have a 'Choice' sticker, it's probably 'Select' grade... You're better off buying 'Choice' sirloin than 'Select' NY Strip. Usually, there's a weekly special on some kind/part of chicken, and it's usually a very good deal. All dairy is higher priced than the big stores, especially milk and cheese. Great deals on 24 oz. cold beers (better than any party store), and state-minimum on liquor. Produce: Well, here's my general statement about any local grocery store's produce... If you live around here, go to Joe Randazzo fruit market on Gratiot, just north of 11 Mile... Seriously, it's worth the 3 mile drive to save a ton! Otherwise, just like the big stores, if it's on sale, price is okay, otherwise overpriced, and so-so quality. Staff are friendly if you're a regular. If you ask, they will help. Parking lot sucks, potholes, faded parking stripes, and not lit well at night. No noticeable outdoor security or cameras. If you know the area (and I'm not saying it's terrible), you know they should have security out there, especially at night. read more

However from the times I have went, the staff are usually rude, the prices in my experiences are higher than other stores in our area. In addition, produce most of the times is not that fresh. They have to be the worst customer service I have ever experienced not to mention there tuff meat and HIGH PRICES so I went to buy minute made pop products 10 for $ or $1 each so they ring up $1,33 so I tell the cashier and he says they are $1.99 so I said how can they be $1.99 when they are scanning at $1.33 so instead of taking the time to go and look at the shelf that clearly states 10 for $10 he voids the sale so I go to the manager after I took a pic of the sign and still for 15 min she is trying to figure it out it's very simple I said to honor the price on the shelf sticker it's the LAW so I left t with just the TUFF new york strip steaks that were garbage now I know why the staff is dumb and lazy look at their leader starts from the top and they jack up their prices because to off set the double coupons STAY away there meat is brown and the store is dirty look at the meat before you buy you will thank me later read more

Oakridge just lost a customer that shopped there a tleast once a week if not more and buys money orders there monthly...............Policy or not any store that can sell money orders should cash their own money order they sold, they can take my money and charge me $1 (which by the way is more expensive than any grocery store (cheaper than banks but we all know how much crooks banks are) but when I get in a pinch and need the money they have of mine for vehicle repair to work after bank hours and "can't" cash it since I wrote on it to myself since I needed the money they can't cash it ????..... if a store sells pepsi products they must honor pepsi deposit even if it was bought from a different store, coke product same deal and especially their own brand even if it's from a different store.. they pull from their till for western union don't they ? they probably even cash their employees paychecks...... but don't cash their own money orders ????? I am now going to start doing my weekly shopping at a different grocery store that sells money orders and start giving them all of my business, same policy or not they haven't caused further hardship on me as oakridge just has..... seems they also put a mark up on stamps, isn't that an illegal pracitce ????? read more

This place has to have the most rudest emolyees ever esp in the deli. The deli manager is a joke. Rude as hell. The short old lady well. If your her favorite customer its all good. Otherwise she is not very nice. The girls they have working back there dont wanna work. U can see that. And its gross they are on their phone with gloves on and then come out touching lunch meat with same gloves. There hot food station. I would never buy their food. U look at it when they are closing. Its all burnt nasty looking. Makes u wonder how long food is in there. The one girl who i asked her name and she is Leslie. Is a joke. She has sliced my meat 3 times. When i say thin. She shows me and then turns it up thicker. She is a waste of a worker. That deli is a joke. Their salads all have a film on them from not selling. So what did i notice.....then just stir them up. And then i watched another worker take out a bowl. And top it off. Never put new product in and out older on top. She just slung new on top of old. Ewwwwww. Buyer beware.
