I was really excited to try this place for date night! I have to say the wine was excellent, the service was great, really cute place indoors and outdoors... but, $18 for this cheese and charcuterie plate??? I'm glad we didn't order more plates. This was such a small plate for $18, and they didn't even put enough jam... :(. I would definitely recommend to go try their wines, and for the cute ambience, but food wise, it's quite expensive and not worth it.
I am new to cincy but a friend recommended the cacio e pepe night at Oakley Wines. I went the last night they offered it and I'm so glad I did. The staff was very friendly as I explained this was my first time at the establishment. I went around 6/7 and the seating inside was pretty full but I was sat at the bar and plenty of space! I was the only one and felt like a VIP. I ordered the pasta, salad and the wine flight. The food was excellent and so was the wine. I will be back to try the cocktails. Great night out at Oakley Wines. I really enjoyed the cab sav.
The perfect date night location in downtown Oakley! The ambience of this place screams first date but honestly is perfect to go get a few drinks with your friend. The basement is my favorite with custom build in art structures and a fireplace makes you want to snuggle up and get personal with the ones you love! Service is wonderful and drinks are delicious. They also have small bites if you need to refill from all the booze! There is street parking out front and customers are younger crowd with $$ but I still feel comfortable coming! This is so close to our apartment, we visit often.
Fabulous wines! Went to an event with Oakley Wines and The Rhined and it was hard not to take everything we sampled home! The owner shared so much insight on the how and why behind her business and it was very inspiring. Not to mention paired perfectly with the cheeses we tried. Carries a lot of women wine makers, 100/10.
Start with the premise that most people don't know squat about wines. Follow with the conclusion that it doesn't matter, so long as there is no pretentious wine snobbery from all concerned. Select wines that are (1) tasty and designed to stretch your palate and (2) affordable (under $20 as a rule). Talk to your customers about wine in ways that are accessible. Oh, and for good measure, serve delicious small plates with the wines, at Friday flights and tastings for us hoi polloi. Boom. Oakley Wines. Now be happy and drink your vino.
Great wine HORRIBLE service. Had a party of 10 and Kimberly kicked us out for not wearing masks as we stood up for a group photo. There were no signs outside of the establishment of the rules dictating their requirements (pics for proof). She was rude and TOTALLY out of line even after we explained ourselves. If you get a chance to visit this place... enjoy yourself but be warned of the "Karen" named Kimberly.... fair warning. Update 11/26/20: So this is really getting out of hand... this establishment is in FULL cover their @$$ mode since this incident and has gone out on FB and posted about our group, and WLWT along with WXIX has gotten involved without fact-checking. So here are the facts: 1) There was NO signage for what the protocol is for this establishment posted on the outside. 2) All but the exception of 1 in our group wore a mask when entering the building (even though there was not a sign stating otherwise) 3) Our server may have said something to the group. I do not know as I arrived 20 min late and did not hear. 4) We reserved the cellar and there was NO ONE else down stairs when I arrived except our group so no other guests were at risk. 5) IF there is such a strict mandate to wear masks without sitting then signs should be posted through out. (Each establishment follows different protocol so please post to avoid confusion) 6) Food was placed on bar across from our table. (It was NOT placed on our table or served to us) so we had to serve ourselves. Again, no signage was posted stating to mask up to get food when we had the whole downstairs to ourselves. 7) We poured our own drinks which included water and we did not get any refills nor did the server check in with us at any point to make sure our drinks were topped off or if we need anything else. Again, this is bad service. 8) There was NO asking if anyone in our group had health issues or any other issues (which could have been included being raped) to prevent them from wearing a mask. 9) Our reservation was for two hours and we were asked to leave with only 15 min. Left. 10) We DID break a glass as we were leaving-- but was by accident and not intensional and fell off the table as one of the party members got up to leave (could have happened to anyone) As a matter of fact we helped to clean it up. 11) As we left we wore our masks out. 12) Cops were not called nor did we have to be escorted out as we left civilized. Unhappy- but civilized. We did NOT make a scene through out the rest of restaurant on the upstairs floor.... we simply walked out the door after bill WAS paid. 13) Also, there was ZERO "spiting" that went on as they claim. That comment was taken out of context- since we were asked to leave- we asked for corks so we could take the wine with us. Our party then said "I'm going to clean these, because I don't know if they spit on them or not. " they were in fact given to us by our server without gloves or any platter so she did in fact touch them with her bare hands. With all that said- most of this is a he said she said issue and I do in fact have proof that they were NOT compliant with all the covid protocol and postings. If they say they have video proof I would love to see ALL of it. All that being said: The wine was good, the place was very cute. Love the concept of this establishment, and the atmosphere had a good vibe minus our experience that night. We did have a bad experience with our server and maybe she is normally nice to other patrons, and she was having an off night but, we personally did not have a good experience with her.
This place has great wine selections as well as their charcuterie board. The cheese is from the Rhined and all the cheeses taste exceptional. The wine bottle prices are also reasonable and the flight options were nice. The only reason I give this place 2 stars is because of how my friend and I were neglected for the almost two hours we spent there. It was a Wednesday night and the place was not busy with many open seats throughout. We walk in and are not greeted by either of the two women behind the bar. We waited a few minutes at the counter before we had to ask for a menu because neither one of them acknowledged our presence. Then we took a seat at a high top close to the counter. We had to go back to the counter to put in our order when we saw one of the women go to another hightop table to take another customers order. Each time we went to the counter, we were ignored for a few minutes because the women were too busy talking to the same two customers the entire time we were there. Not once did they ask how our wine or charcuterie board was. A third woman had brought us our charcuterie board and she was the only friendly person that evening but she was also tending to a separate private event on the basement. This was another reason why we didn't order a bottle after our initial wine flight. We then had to go ask for our bill because neither woman acknowledged that we were there when we were sitting 4 feet away. My friend and I have both been there before and especially on their busier nights and have never felt that neglected by a local business.
We came here for their National Wine and Cheese Day wine pairing (we pre-paid). The place was starting to get crowded and busy when we arrived, but we had a reserved seat since we pre-paid and were promptly greeted and seated. It took a bit of time for a server to come over since they were busy, but everyone we encountered was very friendly, shared their favorite cheese and wine pairing of the night and were happy to talk about all of the things on offer. The cheeses were very good and I enjoyed the wine pairings quite a lot! My fiance found he liked a white wine better than some of the other pours (he's generally not a white wine kind of guy). I would love to come here on a non-event day. The service was a little slow and the cheese makers never made it by before we left, which was a little bit of a bummer, but not the end of the world. I think they could have used a little more staff since the place was so packed. Not sure how it is on the average day in comparison. We will definitely come back some time and update my review. One drawback here is parking. Oakley area definitely lacks decent parking and I'm not entirely sure we were parked in an appropriate place on the street!

We love going to Oakley Wine for their monthly tasting! Their charcuterie boards are always changing and consistently delicious. The staff is so kind and knowledgeable about the wine picks, which are chosen mindfully. Great place for a date night or meeting up with friends. read more
Last night was my first time to Oakley wines and I was absolutely blown away. The food exceeded our high expectations and the wines were perfectly paired. Our table ate family style to maximize the yumminess. First up was the raclette. Oh my! The smell of melty cheese pervaded the entire atmosphere. The plate we ordered was generously piled with cheese, ham, potatoes, and some picked veg to cut the richness. I was so pleased, I wondered if we should have ordered anything more. The answer was yes! Other entrees included a delicata squash dish, confit mushroom tacos, a spicy pad thai pancake, and beef stew. Each one was interesting and delicious in its own right. You could tell all the food was carefully curated; from the seeds to give a bit of crunch to the squash to the chicarrón like crisp on the mushroom tacos, I appreciated the clear effort. There was only one misstep- it is a pet peeve of mine that if you ask about what's being celebrated in the reservation that it should at least be mentioned by the host or server. Otherwise, why ask? It is a testament to the great food and service at Oakley wines that I consider it a 5 star experience despite that. read more
My fiancé and I live near here and have occasionally said we should visit... boy were we wrong! We should've been running over!!!! From the moment we walked in, it was exactly what we were looking for! Super cute little bar area with a patio outside lined by plants. We each got a flight, hers a weekend special and mine individually selected, all 7 wines were very good. It seems like "orange" wine isn't rare but I hadn't seen it before, great to try! Excellent sweets, drys, reds, whites, bubbles, whatever you are looking for! read more

Great date night place, or relaxing evening with a friend. They have a fabulous wine selection, and are always doing fun wine tastings. They have recently paired with Rhined (cheese place in OTR), which has been a great combination! They have fantastic charcuterie boards, small plates, and you can't forge the s'mores! Atmosphere is very cozy, especially in the cellar area. You can purchase bottles of wine that you enjoy on site as well. They have beer and cocktails, if you aren't a wino! Cheers, and hopefully you will enjoy it as much as I do on a regular basis! read more

I have had the pleasure of visiting several times now and I can confidently state that this is a hidden gem. I say hidden because even when I describe to people where it is, they often walk right by unwittingly. The secret is the basement lounge area. When you walk by at the ground level, it just looks like an unassuming wine shop, so if you're expecting a swanky lounge, you might not realize this is the spot! Just find Habits Cafe on the corner of the main strip in Oakley (where Madison splits and there is a central lawn area), then head to the right side of Habits, down Allston St. I will be very surprised if you easily find parking...so keep this in mind. It's on the left hand side of the street, across from a garage, and nested unassumingly between Cooknie Euro Cabinets and aiiro salon. It's an open space with all glass storefront, white walls, tall ceilings and a pale wood floor. The best part in my opinion is the basement area. To get there, walk straight to the back of the store and turn left, then look for the stairs going down. Below, there is a soft glowing retreat that is cozy and inviting. There is not a ton of seating, so I hope you manage to grab a spot. It will be harder for larger groups. It's great for a romantic conversation, light bites and a few glasses of wine or liquor. They also have a sizeable craft beer menu as well with some fun options. Keep in mind this bar area doesn't open until 5pm, and it helps to get there early to grab a spot. The staff is not intrusive, but ready and able to help as they are both knowledgeable and friendly. They will take the time necessary to explain their wine and food options without rushing you. The decor is excellent, and the food is both tasty and inventive. The upstairs shop hosts wine tasting nights and it gets quite packed with vibrant people and positive energy. You guys, a tragedy occurred. My normal Friday night wine tasting is on hiatus! After four years I'm once again on the hunt for a Friday night tasting. Good thing Cincinnati has game in this area! Oakley Wines was my first stop on my new search. I've had OW bookmarked for probably a year and even walked by, but never made it in. The space is super cute, with a bar/lounge downstairs. I didn't go downstairs yet, so this review is for upstairs and the tasting. The tasting is $10, a little more than I usually pay for a tasting. You get 5 pours and there's a theme, last week it was California wines. There were two whites and three reds. There's a screen above where they pour the wine that has the bottles they are pouring and the price point, which I loved! I personally like to get some tasting notes, year notes, etc. when tasting, and the pourer didn't really have that to offer. We got there a little after 6 and it was about half full, but VERY quickly the place was completely full. I'm talking standing in a line of maybe 5+ people every time we went back for our next taste. This was somewhat overwhelming and make conversation tough. Overall, I only liked maybe 1 out of 5 of the wines, and because it was so busy, I wasn't super impressed. But please note- the crowd here was pretttty Oakley cool. Which was a good thing, in my opinion. HOWEVER. I am in love with the shop aspect. Every bottle was under $20, and they have really truly great variety. I even found this canned wine from Oregon that I've been looking for everywhere! (Obviously, it was a rosé.) I'm definitely sold on buying my wine here and would love to come back for a glass pour, which they do anytime they're open. I do wish they would do tastings on off days/nights though, so I could get a little more in depth on their selection. I cannot wait to come back and shop here, and to try the Cellar down below. read more
Great experience! It was my first time here and it was a pleasant surprise finding out that The Rhined now owns Oakley Wines! The owner and her husband waited on us and were super friendly! The place was packed for the Friday happy hour which included $10 for a 5 pour tasting. The atmosphere was super cozy and relaxing. Amazing and definitely will be back! Hoping they bring the pecans up from The Rhined! read more

I recently went to Oakley wines for one of their Friday night flight tastings and was very impressed! I had only been here for casual drinks one other time. The wine tasting was excellent! $10 for 5 tastings which is a pretty good deal and the pours were generous for a tasting. I loved it because it definitely gets me out of my comfort zone on trying wines and i found new things i probably wouldn't have tried on my own! I am excited to come back for more tastings. The ambiance is great in the tasting room and in the cellar. Their food menu also looks good, something definitely worthy of trying out! read more

Honestly didn't really feel welcome from the get go. My friend and I walked in at 3:45 pm which is typically a slower time before the true happy hour and dinner rush. I haven't been here in years since moving so I was excited to go have a glass of wine in the cellar area where the atmosphere is cozy and intimate. We asked if we could go seat ourselves down there and the man working here said it would be more "convenient" if we sat upstairs (the bright room with way less atmosphere that looks more like a coffee shop) but sure, we could sit downstairs. We go downstairs and there was a 7 top table of women down there so they already were having to go downstairs anyways to serve that table... Strange. Then we asked about ordering food and they said the kitchen doesn't open until 5 but they have some non kitchen items like smoked salmon, goat cheese, and some cheese cracker and pickled veggies. I said sure we'll do those. Then a few minutes later they tell us that our bites are ready but they are upstairs sitting at a table. It was a sad presentation of two jars of salmon and goat cheese and a plastic to-go box of some cheese and veggies. Also very strange how we just got kicked out prematurely to the upstairs area (the area they pushed from the get go) ...so we had to walk upstairs with our wine and resituate upstairs. There was a party I guess coming to the basement around 4:30 but they weren't there yet and the place was practically empty. The bill was laughable too. Each small bite was ridiculously expensive - $10 for the goat cheese jar, $10 for the salmon jar, $14 for the cheese and pickled veggies. Overall just felt like we weren't really wanted there and so we left after 1 glass of wine even though we thought they'd be happy to have business at such a dead time of day. read more
