I was excited to get my new set of glasses. I got my prescription from an eye surgeon (an ophthalmologist). Turna out, eye surgeons suck at this!!!! And boy, this one sucked in a royal way!!! I loved my new glasses, but couldn't see a thing! Robert was able to squeeze me in to see Dr. Falkowitz (my new Optometrist!). He corrected my Rx. Now I am more excited to get my new glasses. Robert who noticed the issue right away was beyond amazing! He ensure this time my Rx was exactly what I needed. Even corrected the pupil distance... I mean, I couldn't have asked for better service and attention to detail. I am so glad I went to this location and ran into incredible professional staff. They don't rush you to make a decision, like I experienced in other optical places. Lesson learn: *Opthalmologist = eye surgeons. It was like pulling teeth to get an update on when I could pick up my glasses. When I was in the store they told me it was be a week max. I didn't hear anything back after 7 days back so I called and was told "well a week really means 7-9 business days with us".. I called back again on day 9 and Kathy said she would go check on them and call me back.. Hours went by and she never called back. When I called again she didn't apologize for not calling me back she just said I thought the lab would've called you.. she just threw the blame on someone else even though she specifically said she would call me back.. she told me to hang on and then she just transferred my call.. a guy picked up from "the lab" and when I explained I was waiting for an update from Kathy, he let me know they actually just finished my glasses and I could pick them up. I pick them up today, when I walked in the store, three of the ladies were huddled up having a chit chat session. I had to interrupt them to ask to pick up my glasses and they waved me off to someone in the back that wasn't part of the huddle. I don't know if it was my bias from my weird phone interaction, but the guy that helped me get my glasses seemed off as well. He gave me a back handed compliment while simultaneously dissing my previous pair which I also got from them. I live pretty far out from the Roosevelt Field Mall now I only went back to this location because I remember having a positive interaction but next time I'll be sticking closer to home.

When I came back Christen was my new rep and our first interaction went fine until I came back to pick up my suit from alterations. I noticed right away the pants were too short (above my shoes) and the sleeves were also too short, not sticking out of my suit at all and riding up when I extended my hand. I notified him I think the sizes were incorrect but rather than double checking and correcting the error he told me I looked fine and the suit was fitted correctly. I had to push back and say no, it's not correct, pull up images online of how it should fit and say I wanted it fixed before he agreed to redo the measurements. But not before he told me not to trust everything online. Later at check out he accidentally charged me for alterations again which had to be corrected when I came back for my final pick up. I do not mind that the measurements were wrong the first time. I DO mind that if I'm buying a 1,300 suit that doesn't fit, the rep doesn't try to tell me it fits correctly when it clearly does not. He is the professional here but this was unacceptable behavior and honestly made me doubt if suitsupply was a quality company. I would give him a 1 for service but because I liked the suit I'll give my overall experience a 3.

In all my years of wearing glasses, I have never had a pair simply snap at the arm from being picked up normally. Unfortunately, that is exactly what happened with the pair I purchased here only about a year and a half ago. When I called the office about what happened, I was told that the glasses were already a year and a half old, as though that were a reasonable lifespan for prescription eyeglasses. I was also told that Medicare "basically gave" me the glasses and that they were free in a way. I found that comment extremely condescending. Yes, Medicare provided coverage, but these were not simply "free glasses" that I was handed. I paid additional money out of pocket for the glasses and lenses, and more importantly, I am a paying patient who deserves to receive a quality product and be treated with respect. Being on Medicare or having a fixed income should not somehow lower the standard of what is considered acceptable. I was told I could come into the office and they would "see what they could do," but I was also reminded that things cost money and aren't free. I understand that businesses have costs. I wasn't asking for something for nothing. I was asking whether an optical office would stand behind a pair of prescription glasses that failed after only 18 months under what appears to have been completely normal use. What makes this particularly frustrating is that this is not the first time my family has had an issue with the quality of eyewear purchased here. About a year ago, my daughter's glasses purchased through this office also broke easily. In her case, she was NOT using Medicare. Her glasses were covered through a union insurance plan through her father, so this wasn't an issue of Medicare providing some supposedly inferior or no-cost eyewear. An optician at another office examined the glasses and told us they appeared to be defective. My mother ultimately had to pay out of pocket to have the replacement glasses made elsewhere. So I now have two separate experiences involving glasses purchased through this office that have failed prematurely. In my daughter's case, another optician actually identified the frame as appearing defective. That makes it very difficult for me to simply chalk my current experience up to bad luck. This is especially disappointing because this office is located in an affluent area and appears to specialize in higher-end and designer eyewear. I initially chose them because they accepted my insurance and had numerous positive reviews talking about how nice and accommodating they were. I expected that same level of customer service regardless of what type of insurance a patient carries. Instead, when I called about my broken glasses, the emphasis seemed to be on the fact that Medicare had paid for them and that they were already a year and a half old. I don't think 18 months should automatically be considered an acceptable lifespan for prescription eyeglasses, particularly when the frame broke from ordinary handling and there was no apparent misuse. I am not expecting an expensive designer frame for nothing, nor am I expecting a business to replace every pair of glasses indefinitely. I am expecting reasonable quality, reasonable durability, and a reasonable response when a product fails. What bothered me most was not simply that the glasses broke. Things can break. It was the attitude I encountered when I brought the problem to their attention. The implication that because Medicare covered the glasses they were somehow "free," and therefore perhaps not something I should expect much from, was extremely off-putting. People on Medicare and people living on fixed incomes still deserve quality products and professional, respectful treatment. Insurance coverage should determine how a patient pays--not how much consideration or quality they receive. After these two experiences, I have serious reservations about the quality of the frames being sold here and about the customer service provided when something goes wrong. Unfortunately, I won't be purchasing eyewear here again.
