Avery bonded with Ms Mel immediately and as a result she has grown and thrived in her class. It is going to be hard for Avery to leave Ms Mel for kindergarten but she has done a great job preparing Avery for her next chapter in school.

This school is wonderful. Parking and pick up can be frustrating sometimes but that's on the lazy parents who do not want to park appropriately and walk a few feet to pick up their children. The staff tho is amazing I've never had any issues or back talk or rudeness from anyone. If my kid wasn't feeling well they would call me immediately. If my kid had an issue with another child they would call me and explain the situation or I could easily text the teacher and she would handle it. The teachers seemed very interested in my kids education as both of them also require IEP for speech delay and autism. I just felt really heard with any concerns and they show genuine interest in my kids me tal well being as well as education I hope they can stay here instead of starting at another school. The other two options don't look very good.

In October of last year, my son was enrolled at Starfish Scholars. I chose this school after having a very negative experience at a previous daycare where I felt the teachers simply did not care. At that point, I made the decision that sometimes you truly get what you pay for. Even though this school was a little outside of my budget, the moment I walked in, I felt peace. I genuinely believed my son would be safe, cared for, and protected there. One thing that made me feel even more comfortable was the fact that they offered cameras for parents. Ironically, I never even logged into them because I trusted the environment so much. Every single day after pickup, I would ask my son how his day was, and during the first couple of weeks he seemed happy and excited to be there. Then things started to change. Around the second week, he began telling me he missed his old teacher. I didn't think too much of it at first because he also spoke positively about Ms. (JASMINE/YASMINE), saying she was nice to him and gave him snacks, which made him happy. One day, while talking to him about behavior at school and asking if he had been a good boy, we started discussing the cameras. That's when he told me something that completely stopped me in my tracks. He said, "The cameras only work for the kids, not the teachers." I asked him what he meant by that, and he began explaining that during nap time, his teacher had been touching him. As any parent would, I immediately contacted the police and filed a report. From my perspective, however, it felt like very little was actually done besides questioning the teacher. Life moved on for everyone else, except for my son. Since then, anytime teachers are brought up, he gets a fearful look on his face. What hurts even more is that my own sister is a teacher, and he now seems afraid around her too. It genuinely feels like he believes all teachers are unsafe. He no longer wants to go to school, and honestly, I don't blame him. When I informed the administration that I would be withdrawing him and explained why, the response felt cold, dismissive, and completely lacking empathy. As a parent, that was heartbreaking. I cannot recommend this school to any parent who simply wants to know their child is safe, protected, and genuinely cared for.

Now I know in rougher areas kids need all the help they can get, but what about us poor people living in nice areas? What are our children? Chopped liver? I was upset when they said, we do offer all day BUT its 300$ per month! 300?! Are you kidding me?! I'm a single mom living off unemployment, I cant even afford the place I'm living in and you want me to pay that? What sucks is that I moved out of the ghetto so my child could have a better education and this is how I get repaid. 2 and a half lousy hours at school! What ppl dont understand is that kindergarten in just as important as sixth grade! This is your childs start, little peoples brains are a sponge right now and its pertinent that we educate them early so they dont end up on the streets uneducated! I love how they tell me, well if you work with your child he will develop. Yea I can work with him, but what about his social skills? What about child interaction and the different environment the school gives him? Nevada is def a** backwards with its education system! No wonder our test scores are in the toilet! They care more about whose gonna make the next 100,000 rather than our little children who WE are going to need to support us when WE are elderly! In Colorado my son was 3 and attended 4 day pre-kinder ALL DAY! AND IT WAS FREE! I also think the whole "if you live less than 2 miles from the school we will not transport you" is a crock of s***, we live 1 mile and have no problem walking, BUT IN 100+ Degrees?!! My son was not doing too well the first day after having to be in the heat. I feel bad. Yea its only a mile away, but kids get hotter quicker than adults. Our bodies can endure the extreme heat, theirs cant. Luckily I found a POS on CL for 350$, it runs, has no AC, and is rollin on a donut but it gets him there semi-safe. I hope Clark County takes a closer look at our educational system and the budget. Otherwise back to Colorado I go!! LOL, not really though : )

Their well-rounded curriculum not only balances your child's core subjects with art, Spanish, play time (there's a lot of play time, especially during extended care :)), and of course, nap time, but it is done in a seemingly fun way--the Challenger way. My daughter loves singing their songs so much I ended up buying the Challenger Phonics Fun set that included songs that I digitized so I can play them in the car for her on our drives. It's a nice break from the Disney stuff, and includes video lessons to help her take what she was taught in her classroom back home with her. I'm happy to say we're back for kindergarten and after my daughter's first day (which I was nervous about), she alleviated my nerves when I picked her up and told me how much fun she had with Ms. Henderson and Ms. Wheatley. We're looking forward to another great year at Challenger.
