We stayed at this hotel this weekend as soon as we stepped in the hallway this awful musty stinky smell and bug traps at doorway entering hallway as soon as we entered our room it smelled stinky and musty and moldy the carpet didn't look clean stains in the carpet there was red and brown spots on walls even in bathroom there was dead bugs in the bathroom the bathroom door wouldn't shut the keep opening up every time you used the bathroom it stinked worse in there walls were scuffed up bad halfway hole covered by putting table in front of it won't be using this hotel again or recommend this hotel to anyone read more

If I could put negative stars I would!!!!! Yesterday my child and I drove from Orlando to TN for a family event. We got to Oakland around 5:45pm. We had some items to pick up at Walmart, then got some food, and headed to a hotel. Oakland only has one hotel and we stayed at it in 2017 without problems. So I thought it would be good to stay at this time. I WAS SO WRONG!!! When you walk into the front door, the lobby door is cover in foil and you have to use a phone to call someone to come to the window. He told me he was upstairs and would be down in about 10 mins. I stated feeling off about it but honestly I was so tired I thought it was that and I didn't want to risk driving back into Memphis or anywhere. The man finally got there and I asked if he had a room for 3 people. He let me into the lobby, I made small talk with him about my trip and being so tired. The "lobby" was not even a guest area! It was so dim in there. After paying and getting a room card. He tells me to park on the side of the building and go through the side door. As I go to the side of the building there is three thug looking guys sitting right by the door with music playing and smoking/drinking. From the moment I got out of my car I could feel their eyes on me and my 16 year old daughter! One of the men were nice and even used his key to let us into the building twice. However, it also made me uncomfortable because his eyes were going up and down my body. As we walk into the hall it is SUPER dim almost dark like. Our room was 113 in the middle of the ground floor. It took a minute to get the door open and when we got in the room at first glance it smelled and looked clean for a $84 room. However, the closer you look the worse it got. There was a huge hole in the shower area (looks like there use to be a rod there) the ceiling had rust one all the metal, the shower curtain was from another hotel, the fridge smelled moldy, the phone in the room was a phone from room 114, and worst of all the doors inside lock didn't have a latch so I could secure the door from the inside. All of the events that happened from the time we checked in to that point make me feel so uncomfortable and I no long felt like me or my children were safe. When I say unsafe like I felt as if her and I were being eyed and that someone was going to tried to do something to us. (I wish I could really put into words the emotions from last night. It was one of the scariest and MOST uncomfortable experiences in my life.) I am a small woman and my daughter is not much bigger than me and there is not much my 12 year old son would have been able to be to protect us either because he to the small. So because of how I was feeling we loaded all our things back up as fast as we could and started walking out. There was a woman in the hall and I asked if I could use the door that said lobby to return our key, she said no you have to go to the side door and walk around. She was nice and even opened the door for us to walk out because our hands were full. I told her thank you and said we were rushing so fast because of a family emergency. Two of the guys were still outside and I didn't want them to say anything to us so I said that loud so they would hopefully leave us alone as we walked to the truck. They did but as we were loading our things (trust me super fast) my daughter and I had to lift one of the bags together because it is big and huge for just one of us. As we bent down the guys made it very clear that they were looking. She jumped into the truck super fast and I was right behind her. I had her drive to the front so I could return the key. Also I wanted them to be safe in the locked car and her be able to drive away if something bad happened (yes it really was that kind of situation I felt) I walked into the small area and pick up the phone to get the guy to the front but he was already there. He used my name when he opened the foil door, I told him we had family call and had an emergency. The first thing he says is we don't do refunds. Then as I handed him the room key he looks my body up and down twice in a sexual way which made me feel even more uncomfortable. I told him as sweet as and not freaking out as I could, "it's okay I understand" honestly I wanted my money back (we were there for a whole 10mins) but I also did not want to be in the situation any longer. So I just got in my car as fast as I could and took off to the closest place I had family at. There is so much human trafficking out in the world today and I honestly feel like that place is a place they get people from. Someone needs to do something about this place!!!! Let me start from the beginning. I live in Nashville, Tennessee. My family and I were going up to Moscow but stop in Oakland to stay in the Oakland Inn hotel. The landscape was nice. Late at night close to twelve but not exactly. Because it was my big momma 90th birthday celebration, and we celebrate it in a local center or something. Anyway, stayed in the non-smoking area room 112 and 113. The hallway was filled in cigarette smells. When we moved into our rooms. The staff was nice and we had no problem. Until the next day. I and my brother woke up early around eight o'clock in the morning. I was on my laptop and my brother was watching television when someone knocked on our door. It was around nine or ten o'clock by then. The hotel manager or staff was at the door. They told my brother there will be no cleaning service due to short of employees. The manager or someone didn't inform our parent who was across the hall. No biggie I guess. Well, when we return from my grandmother birthday party. It was very late at night. Upon entering into my brother and my room. The room was heavy with smoke. I thought it was from the halls, however, when I went into the bathroom to change out my dress into my sleepwear. I had to use the toilet. The lid was closed and when I opened it. A disgusting sight appears before me. Someone used our bathroom. Immediately, I thought it was my brother. I asked my brother did he forget to flush the toilet. Because he was the last one used the bathroom before we left. He said, "No." He remembered flushing the toilet. It was empty and the toilet lid open and clean. However, this was nasty and had butt smears on the inside. I couldn't believe that I didn't know why or who would do this. We hardly spoke to anybody and if we did. We were respectful. I didn't understand. My brother was in shock. Not sure if the manager was there that night, I had to flush the toilet and clean the rims. My brother was laying down on his bed when he saw a BLU e-cigarette on the nightstand by his bed. I cursed up a storm and felt very violated. I told my parents because my mother answered the door and I told them what happen. My father went to our room immediately. Luckily done of our stuff was touch and I am happy I kept my laptop with me. Because who knows what could have happened then. The next morning, we were packing up our stuff to check out. While my father went to go talk to the manager. It was an ungodly hour. I wanted to go back to sleep. From the conversation my dad had. The woman was seriously deflecting. She wouldn't meet him eye to eye. She knew who it was or could be and trying to save face. I and my brother did not have the do not disturb sign. On the door, it stayed within the room. First of all, why would we? They said there will be no housekeeping because of their short of staff. Yet someone came into our room and desecrate our space. We will NOT be returning to this Inn hotel service. read more

Do not stay in this pigsty. My blanket was significantly stained & I thought someone bled all over it. The pillows were stained. The bathtub floor was broken open and there were nasty slopped items on the doors, walls, and floors. I would never eat there. There was brown spots all over the walls of the hallway. The owner with children live there and we heard weird noises and whatever they were cooking negatively permeated the interior of our room. I was nauseous and cold the entire time. This hotel is not fit for pets let alone humans. There were large dead plants in the hallways. These owners have no idea of how to keep a motel. This deserves no star rating. They even forgot to make up our room and it was after 7 pm at night. read more

I like the room situation but,their juice machine has dirt in the bottom and it's slimy like syrup. They have cereal and no milk! When you poor cereal into their expired milk the milk turns the color of the cereal! Fell like I'm going to get sick,Bad attitudes. Rooms are very confortable, the breakfast is just very bad. This is no longer a days inn, it's now called the Oakland inn. If there was a zero star rating I would have selected it. After purchasing our room from the lady at the front desk alerting her to my service dog we (dog boyfriend and I )proceeded to our room. All was well until midnight whenI took my pup to use the restroom. When I returned to my room I was greated by a phone call from the front desk of a screaming man demanding money. His claims stated that he was unaware of the dog and we must pay extra money or we would be kicked out. We promptly went to the main desk to discuss this face to face where our pointless debate began. Unable to speak to his wife (rented us our room) who was standing next to him but he wouldn't let her talk, nothing was resolved. We AGAIN paid the extra charge and all returned to our room tails between legs. Don't let people get away with things like this! read more

Very basic hotel. Reasonably priced with clean beds and hot shower. Some housekeeping issues but nothing too daunting. Breakfast was minimal- cereal, mini doughnuts, muffins and coffee. It served its purpose- got us off the road and dry. read more
