This is a KLA franchise location, and if you have heard about the wonderful KLA corporate locations in Miami - This. Is. Not. It. Within the first 5 months of school, 4 children were withdrawn from a class of approximately 10/12 because of issues with the school and staff, and I know many others wanted to but simply had no alternative childcare. I write this because I wish I was warned before enrolling my child. Big issues first: this school lacks security. We were assured someone would always be at the front desk, monitoring who came in and out, though consistently when I picked up my child, the door was locked but no one was at the front. This is an issue because anyone coming out can hold the door open for a "parent" waiting outside. I withdrew my son after grandma went to pick him up, was let in by a cleaning lady, and was not stopped or asked for her ID or who she was until she was almost out the door with my child. There's no communication with parents. We were promised weekly reports with pictures, and daily reports with diaper changes, etc, but I can count on one hand the times I received this in 6 months. The teachers and staff are not properly trained. My child choked and threw up as a result while eating his lunch and the assistant "director" did not deem this "important" enough to call me. Further, at the beginning of the school year, the Nido class only had one permanent teacher. The parents were assured that an assistant teacher would be hired "soon" but that did not happen until late December. Even though there was only one teacher, new students continued to be enrolled to the classroom every week, and depending on the number of students present that day, a substitute teacher from an agency would be called in to help. The parents never knew who was going to be watching their children - and very often when the permanent teacher called out sick, they were left at the care of substitutes that were not trained in the KLA method or knew anything about the school or the children. This is just a glimpse into the many problems we've had at KLA Fort Lauderdale. I hope something changes - the school does have great potential. But I was not willing to risk my child's well being until they got it together. Please take this for what it is: our experience in one classroom. But be cautious of overarching issues like security and training that need to be fixed ASAP.

She is a director of a learning center where there are children with all different types of backgrounds and households. Imagine dealing with people who are teaching their children the wrong things, or who have parents doing the wrong things and they are modeling their parents behavior, and not just one but ALOT. She is very compassionate and does love the children. Imagine how hard we have it as parents of only our children. Imagine trying to help raise over 100 other families children. We knew she was ready for more than we could offer at home. So we wanted to make sure she was in an environment of learning, creativity and top notch care. After touring many schools and montessoris in our area, we finally got an appointment at DPK. We were so pleased from the moment we pulled up into the parking lot. The school is in a beautiful and lush area, with so many trees and beautiful greenery. No heavy traffic or too many buildings around. Everything was super clean and NEW! We were greeted by Ms. Laurie the school Director, who also gave us our tour. She was sweet, energetic and funny. The school has been completely remodeled . All the class rooms are New and immaculate. It's not too big, which we loved!! They had everything we were looking for. A music room, library, and great gym with all new kids equipment and toys. The class rooms were beautiful, organized and soooooo clean! They even had a Viewing Glass area, were we could stop by and peek into the class without the kids seeing us. This gave us so much peace of mind. We were also able to meet the teacher Ms. Sabrina, and speak with her about her experience and teaching philosophy. We knew right away we had found our School! Thankfully there was a spot available and we got our little one registered right away! After 4 months of going to DPK our kiddo has blossomed in so many ways! The growth is amazing to watch. She is talking so much and is always happy and excited to go to school. The entire DPK team is truly the BEST. They are caring, experienceed, and knowledgeable.
