Not sure what makes a place "Québécois" but that's what O-Thyme claims to be and I'm here for it. Everything tastes simple and fresh, great quality seafood, & just good cooking overall! Loved the scallops wrapped in spinach. Tender with its delicate sweetness presented so well Tartar was another fav - flagrant dill oil and shallot confit comes together beautifully. Scoop it up with the chips for an added crunch! scallops $29* arctic char tartar $25* morel mushroom tartlet $24 king oyster mushroom $23 duck goulu $29 buckwheat pizelle $14 koji cake $14 몬트리알은 먹으러 오는 도시다.

Split pea soup (my personal favorite) and sourdough bread.

We picked this place out very last minute as we wanted one last good French meal in Montreal. We made a reservation at the bar (not usually my favorite place to sit), but the ambiance was relaxed and we got a great view of the kitchen and everything else going on! The restaurant wasn't too noisy at all, and our server was excellent, and worked her best to explain everything to us in English! (We had a lot of fun with this!!) Everything tasted incredible, although the second courses were a little adventurous for us! The lamb and mushroom dish was absolutely phenomenal. The BOYB is not something that I'm used to without a corkage fee like in the US, and I found it really cool! We stopped by a wine store on the way to get a French red wine to go with our dinner.

Oh Thym, you are so good. How could you be so good. You are just insanely good that I can bare with all Montréal slow service now. Kkkk Let me tel you that you have to be patient if you are dining for dinner in Montréal. I think it usually takes 2:30 hours to finish a 4/5/6courses dinner. But everything is a surprise n everything is worth of your time if you are here. I suggest you just go for everything cuz I just ordered random things which are all delicious.

Duck!

Amazing atmosphere food was so good - highly recommend the duck!! Fabulous service - out of the way and great quiet spot

On my weekend getaway to Montreal, we were recommended O'Thym by friends who noted that they visited this bistro every time they go to Montreal. We tried to get in on Saturday evening without reservations which turns out, means you're probably not going to get in. Luckily we found reservations for the next evening. So note to you, make a reservation because they're that good and busy! First impressions, the place is a decent size but definitely make reservations. The decor is cool and chic. Seats are decently spaced and it is super clean. You can dress up or go smart casual if you'd like though we did see people in more casual outfits too. The bistro is bring your own wine so if you're looking to drink with your food, make sure to pick up a bottle or two of wine (depending how lit you wanna get) and bring it on in. We did not this time around. The wait staff was super helpful and answered any questions we had happily. We were advised their menu changes based on the in-season produce and ingredients which means you won't get bored coming back here time and time again. This evening we went with a variety of dishes: the Spelt and Oyster Musroom Risotto with Pork rang (tenderloin?); Duck; Fish of the Day - Cod; White Turnip App; Cod Fritter App. I must say every dish was beautiful and delicious! Every dish had wonderful flavour. My Risotto was less heavy than the traditional risotto which was blanaced out by the creaminess and the tender tender pork. I scooped up every little bit of my dish and if it wasn't so highly frowned upon, I would've licked the plate! The fish dishes were cooked perfectly and had so many flavour combinations that complimented each other so well. The duck (though I didn't try it) apparently was really good and was gone in less than 5 minutes. The only downside of the food was that I wanted more when I was done! lol The food was awesome, the portion size was actually the right size, I just like to eat so I totally could've had more XD All in all, as usual TL;DR, eat here. You won't regret it!

Finally tried this famous restaurant. We reserved the seats two weeks ahead and could only get two seats at six. They only serve dinner now and no lunch anymore. We ordered three dishes per person as recommended. They were indeed very small like tapas plates but you need to bring your own wine. The amount of food was good for us but I think it might need four plates for an average person (and remember to order bread). Globally the dishes were very creative and I liked four of them among the six dishes very much. The other two are mediocre given the price. The highly recommended two dishes are Pétoncles poêlés, Nouveau-Brunswick and Gnudis au Louis d'Or. They were really impressive and worth coming back.

Amazing. I asked to add morel mushroom to the celery root dish and it was spectacular.

Flawless experience. I was seated right away, and my server didn't assume anything about my language skills- he asked if I'd prefer a French or English menu. Of course I wish I could read French! I tried my best. Everything on the menu is seasonal and fresh, so there were a few specials. I thought the Fish of the Day (cod) would be amazing since it came with morel mushrooms, but my server was careful to check for any dairy content. The sauce for the fish is a cream sauce, so I ended up getting the seared scallops as my appetizer, and the celery root with chanterelles as my main. I asked to add morels to the celery root dish and it was fantastic. I loved the crispy fried chickpeas that were sprinkled on top of the celery root dish. The umami of all the dishes was incredible. The big windows were a great way to watch the storm roll in, and enjoy the warm atmosphere inside. I would really like to come back for brunch!

Super cute BYOB restaurant offering an ever changing seasonal menu of "quebecois" food with amazing service. I know that's a mouthful but it's all the things that make this restaurant so great! We made reservations for 3 on a Tuesday night and most times were free, I can imagine it gets busy on the weekends though. They have a decent range of appetizers however we skipped on these since we already had a quick bite. They include a small soup and bread and butter on the house each person anyway which was a nice surprise. For the main course they offer mostly local meats accompanied by a creative side dish. I had the duck leg confit while my friend had the beef tartar. Both were cooked so well, the duck was crispy on the outside and very juicy on the inside. It came with vegetables and a berry sauce that gave the dish a refreshing pop. Highly recommend, I wish it was always on the menu! Although it's on the expensive side, bringing your own wine and skipping on the appetizers could land you a great meal at $40 all in. I'll definitely be coming back here.

Flavours ! They nailed it. I've been wanting to come here for a while and finally my boyfriend took me here as he's a big fan of this spot I am not a huge fan as well. We had a great waitress who came over and explained the menu with a huge smile and knew all the ingredients and didn't miss a beat. She did a fantastic job and really made our dining experience great. So besides the fact that it's a byow it's a little loud but what would you expect? It was very classy and food was well priced for a byow because they usually hike the prices up but they didn't. We started with the scallops which were seared perfectly and the crumbled chicken skin was a nice touch. We then had the fiddle head salad which was served on a chic pea pure. It was my first time trying this dish and it's filling so I would suggest you share it like we did with all of appetizers. We then had the sweet potato which was really little so that kinda sucked but it was very good. It's served cold with a little cream on top with a a nicely cooked hot arancini. The best was the foie gras of course! It was served on a carrot cake with rhubarb with fleur de sel. The main we shared was the duck it was nice the what and sauce but the duck was over cooked. But since the service and experience was great I wont knock off any stars. The menu just changed for the season so keep your eyes peeled for a new menu in a few weeks.

Brunch Menu

This was without a doubt, my favorite meal while in Montreal - 10/10 and outstanding in every sense. We were a brunch group of about 25 and we all loved it. The menu is sophisticated, somewhat simple, but nonetheless great. I had the grilled cheese with mamirolle cheese curd and red cabbage with a poached egg - so so good. Lots of people in our group raved about the beef short ribs steak, wellington croissant and the eggs benedict, but its hard to think you can go wrong with any of the items on the menu. Most of all the staff was super attentive and tended to every need of our very loud group. As if the service and food weren't enough, its BYOB! We purchased a few champagne bottles and mixed them with their freshly squeezed orange juice. You can also get their mimosa cider or a natural juice. I forgot what the juice of the day was but it was delicious. Zero complaints on this side. Next time I'm in Montreal I will certainly pay them another visit.

If I could give a 6/5 rating to this place, I would. We came for brunch on a weekend. The decor was super cute. Service was amazing. You can tell the dishes are made with absolute care and top-quality ingredients. Steak de Macreuse Sous-Vide for 48 hours - A totally French and sophisticated version of the bland American steak and eggs. Croissant Wellington - Such a cute poached egg! Amazing combination.

I loved this. Never saw another restaurant plop down mustard and pickles. The mustard was also possibly the most delicious mustard I've ever had. The sauce was bright and acidic - Sorrel soup $13.75. First time having sorrel. It has a slightly sour taste. The soup was creamy and tangy. I'm glad we tried it - Quail with quail eggs on purple rice $37.50. Quail itself wasn't as flavourful but the sauce was amazing and soaked into the rice - Creme brulee $15. Flavour was impeccable. Had a slight grainy texture which was odd but this is just nit picking. Comes with a warm cookie Everything was good. I'm being more nitpicky here than usual, mostly to go back to these notes again in the future. I loved the meal and would definitely go back. Service is very friendly. Food came out super fast. BEST "BYOB" FRENCH BISTRO DURING RECENT TRIP…read more This is the best dining experience in our recent Montreal trip. I'm glad we made reservation since the place was quite packed when we arrived. To be honest, our first impression wasn't too great. We were seated in their main indoor dining area which was a bit too warm. We asked if we can be moved to their fully covered / heated patio area, but unfortunately the restaurant was full. Fast forward 15 minutes, we have placed our order and were enjoying our bottle of wine and a basket of bread. Our server came over and offered to move us to the patio area since a table had opened up. We were pleasantly surprised because (1) we didn't ask again and (2) most restaurants wouldn't change tables once customers started eating/drinking. The restaurant setting is unpretentious with a casual and cozy vibes. The staff are so friendly that we feel like having a family dinner! They offer a pre-fixe menu in which we thoroughly enjoyed! For appetizers, the escargot dish gave us a pleasant surprise. They wrapped the escargots and blue cheese sauce in a thin crispy crust! It's hard to describe, but it's sort of like having an escargot "crepe"! The few main courses we chose were excellent, and the rack of lamb was probably our favorite - tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked. As for dessert, their creme brulee was one of the best I've had - creamy custard topped with a perfect, crisp caramel top. I'd highly recommend this place, and will certainly visit again when I'm in town next time!
