Charming pub. Stopped by after a tour of the Guinness Storefront. Service was great! Our waitress was quick and very attentive. She made sure we had water and answered any questions about the food. Food came out super fast and very good. It was not as rambunctious and noisy as other pubs but they did have music going on. Bathroom was nice and clean. I tried the seafood chowder and it was so good! I would have been happy with just that but then my bangers and mash came which made me even more happy. So flavorful and delicious.

The food and service were excellent. The interior was massive and had the character that made it feel so welcoming. The house cat was so cool. He was open to attention and seemed to relish his roll. A star knock off for the entertainment. The music was supposed to start at 8:30. We left well after 9:00 when the musician seemingly had no interest in playing. Setup followed by restroom break followed by a smoking break left us to go elsewhere for musical entertainment. Kudos again for the food and service. For that alone we would absolutely repeat.

Charmingly quaint pub. If they're busy it'll take forever to get service, but when you do get it, it's friendly and obliging. They had live music the evening we went but because it was so busy we were seated in an area where you couldn't see them, only just vaguely hear them over the large party sitting adjacent to us having quite the night ordering Jamesons and ginger. I personally thought food was great here. The smoked haddock fish n chips was excellent, the soup of the day accompanied with brown bread and butter was also really good. Of course.. Of Course, you'll want to order Guinness here, and you wont regret doing so.

Good food. Good service. Food was hot! And it was quick. Cute atmosphere. Would go back again. Wish there was live music while we were there but overall it was a good time.

I would normally give their Full Breakfast a 4* review, but I'm taking two stars away because of the following situation I witnessed during my meal. The guy sitting at the table behind me tried to order breakfast and the waitress refused to serve him breakfast because it was literally 10:01 and she said they stop serving breakfast at 10:00. At first, he (and I) thought she was joking. When he realized there was no humor, humility, nor humanity in her soul, he said that he just flew into town, wasn't feeling particularly well, and really wanted a hot breakfast to make him feel better. She still refused. It was ridiculous and shameful. I won't be giving them my business again, and I wouldn't recommend you do so either.

Highly recommended by a Dublin local. Friendly folks and live Irish music! Ate and drank at the bar. Great food and drinks! Surrounded by local Dubliners. What a fun night!!

Large Irish pub in a good location. Pretty good food; ranges from soups and sea chowders to real meals. Dessert choices are limited late in the day; they run out. The beef sandwich, and the beef roast rib stew were particularly good. Decent liquor selection, but keep your requests basic. As with all Irish pubs; any mixed drink - or any complicated request - ain't gonna happen. Easy to walk here from anywhere on the River Liffy(sp?). Irish music plays every night, starting about 10pm. Plenty of nooks and crannies to enjoy a private conversation, even amongst the din. Good basic pub in the heart of Dublin.

Really good vegetarian curry with rice and chips . Hubby enjoyed his fish and chips and his brownie for dessert.

Great food, very tasty, had a steak with peppercorn sauce. The downside was the customer service, it left something to be desired.

The authentic Victorian setting, the Victorian mahogany fittings, the mosaic marble tiled floors and granite tabletops, the mahogany bar, capped with red Connemara marble, follows the classic Victorian architectural pattern. The staff are helpful, friendly and patient since their accent is hard to understand sometime. My 1st beer and 1st Irish food, all I can say is what a meal, just simple delish. Being here is just a wondrous experience, the place is cosy, warm and the friendly of the people. So glad I picked this place as my first of Dublin.

Tucked down Dame Court just off Dame Street, The Stag's Head is one of those rare pubs that feels genuinely historic rather than designed to look old. The building dates to the late 1800s, and the interior retains the ornate features of a classic Victorian "gin palace"--rich carved wood, stained glass, brass rails, and a warm, glowing bar that feels wonderfully preserved. We stopped in around 4:30 pm, which turned out to be a perfect time to visit. There were other patrons enjoying drinks and food, but the atmosphere was calm and relaxed rather than loud or rowdy. It felt like the kind of place where locals drop in for a quiet pint on their way home from work before the evening crowd arrives. The staff were excellent--friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good (we failed to take photos because we were too busy enjoying it). As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see the Impossible burger front and center on their menu; it was deliciously prepared with guacamole on a brioche bun, and not an afterthought on the menu. My companions both chose the Irish Beef Burger, and said it was excellent. One thing to know: this is a traditional Victorian pub, so cocktails aren't really part of the program. Expect beer, wine, or spirits rather than mixed drinks. In a place like this, that actually feels exactly right. Other pubs do serve mixed drinks. Between the history, the ambience, the quality of the food, and the wonderful staff, The Stag's Head is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've experienced a real piece of Dublin.

Upon entering it was slightly confusing as to go upstairs or into the bar area to find the hostess to be seated & with no one there to help us we walked into the Bar area to the right & ordered a few Guinness's & waited for someone to seat us somewhere. We ended up being seated in the entry area right at the entrance which was fine because it was super loud up the stairs. We ordered the Pork Pie & The Beef Casserole. Both were really good & filling. The service was decent & the ambiance was nice although it was very, very loud. Overall it was a great meal with above average prices but I'm not sure we'd go back next time due to the other factors.

From the…read moreoutside, it plants itself confidently among Dublin's historic streets with a façade that promises hearty fare and good pints; inside, the space is warm and inviting with dark wood, exposed brick, beautiful murals, and comfortable seating that encourages lingering. My party of six walked in on a Wednesday night at around 7:30pm; at that time, the restaurant was about half-full, but filled up over the course of our meal. The menu has plenty of options ranging from healthy salads to traditional Irish dishes to your standard hearty pub fare. Drinks are also fairly priced here, and they have a good range of ales and lagers on tap (and of course, the classic Guinness). I opted for their Rustic Dublin Coddle (€20.50), which is a sizeable bowl of warming soup with two chargrilled, tender pork sausages, smoky bacon, soft potatoes, and onion, served with toasted sourdough bread. I appreciated the clean taste of the soup (made with an herbed chicken broth), which cut the rich fattiness of the sausage and bacon. I do wish the soup had been served with a more traditional Irish brown bread, but the sourdough was tasty nonetheless. Another great dish was the Waterloo Prime Irish Beef Burger (€19), which is a large patty of juicy, prime Irish beef served atop a toasted bun, with red onions, baby gem lettuce, pickled gherkins, and a tangy smoked Dublin cheddar. Some friends ordered the Superfood Salad (€15), which has a plethora of fresh vegetables and grains, but they noted it was quite bland, even with the French dressing. Yes, it's a bit on the pricey side for a pub, but I find Waterlooo Bar unique in that the atmosphere feels classic but lively: you get that laid-back Dublin pub energy with a hint of sophistication that makes it great for both casual meals and nights out. The food is solid if not stellar, the vibe is fun, and prices are reasonable for the area; a satisfying pick for an Irish pub dinner.
