Called me, her granddad, and of course I went down there to help. I brought some tools and a voltage meter with me. First thing, Checked battery output voltage with a voltage meter and reading was around 11.6 volts. Not a terrible reading but the engine wouldn't start. Not even crank. Made sure battery terminals were on tight, Did tighten one, but engine still not starting. Had jumper cables. Jumped started car! Nice. Checked battery voltage again, reading 13.6 volts. Checked for date on battery, hmmm- 2018. Six or seven years old depending on the month. Time for a new battery. With car running, granddaughter and I drove to Advanced Auto on 4018 Washington Road and Flowing Wells, just across the street from Gerald Jones Auto Group mall. It was our lucky day! On duty was the most friendly and knowledgeable sales associate you could ever meet, Allie,. Allie just knew exactly what to do- check battery terminals, check, look over battery for any bulging areas, yes one side is slightly different, get battery testing machine- hmmm- battery showing not good- Replace. Now most people would say "well it started with a jump, so maybe the battery just needs a good night's change to bring it back to life. Well, maybe that would work, but battery is over Six years old, car driven for school and work by a young woman, and let's face it- do you really want your granddaughter to get stuck somewhere at night? So we bought a new battery. Now sales associate Allie, really knew her stuff. Got the correct battery and did need some help from sales associate Ken, and not only installed the new battery, but also replaced the nut and bolt on the battery terminal that was stripped and could not properly tighten the battery terminal. Allie did her work in a most professional manner with a friendly smile! Advanced Auto is lucky to have Sales associates like Allie and Ken. I recommend that if you need a battery replacement or any other service required parts, and looking for great customer service then I heartily recommend going over to Advance Auto Parts on 4018 Washington Road in Martinez.

The person at the counter was very friendly and helpful. They did have some of what I needed but not all. That's OK because I know the part was a shot in the dark being a specialty part. The things I don't like is the parking lot is narrow and they don't carry items in a way that allows you to buy it in the quantity you need. Like fuel hose. They only offer packs of 18" long pieces and because they are pre packaged it makes them pricey. Why not carry the rolls and sell it by the foot like it use to be done. Will you find your basic needs here? Yes but beyond that you may want to try a different store.

What they told us was that the wiring harness under the passenger seat had been chewed by a dog and needed to be replaced for $975. Looks like one of his toys had rolled under the seat and he had been trying to get it. All of our interactions with Gerald Jones have been very good. Then the check engine light came on once again and we again fixed what the issue was through the different series of codes it showed. For a third time the check engine light has come on and we were not able to see what more codes there were and it became where the car felt unsafe to drive. My husband scheduled an appointment to discuss that we no longer willing to pay payments on a vehicle that was what we believe to have been deceivingly sold to us. My husband had gone in with the intention of discussing the situation of issues that seemed to be continuously popping up and dicuss a possible trade in. The salesperson was very understanding and was doing the best he could as just a salesmen and of course he'd need to speak with the general manger and the service department. Now this is where our experience went VERY downhill. When the car had been taken into the service shop MORE codes showed up that I quote "multiple codes that were not there and hiding behind the other codes.". Which seems to my husband were codes that had been hidden or erased. Then the General Manger came out to speak with my husband, honestly he didn't even speak with my husband. What my husband encountered with this employee was absolutely unprofessional, disrespectful and arrogant. Not only was my husband not be able to directly share our needs with this employee but was denied a handshake when he went to introduce himself, had LAUGHTER and SMIRKING thrown in his face when I quote the GM stated "You can either go test drive the car you need and be flexible with your payments or leave in what you showed up in and hope it doesnt break down on the way home.". The GM didnt even have the decency to even SHAKE my husband's hand when my husband decided to leave. My husband himself had to reach out and shake the employee's hand. This dealship on the Subura side is being managed by a very disrespectful and unprofessional GM that finds it appropriate to LAUGH, SMIRKE at a customer, and not shake their hand when they came to speak about trading in a previously bought vehicle that didnt even last TWO MONTHS before throwing out code after code after code. As a customer that came in with a calm and willing to work with them to trade in a car that they bought from them with of mechanical issues and asking for a solution but instead was met with the above encounter is..honestly dont even have words for it, especially when the customer tried to end the whatever the hell you'd call that appointment by simply reaching out for a handshake and then was refused that handshake.

On 06/23/2026, I took my vehicle to Butler Automotive West, Inc. for diagnostic and repair services. I was charged $2,500 for the repair. Within the same hour of picking up my vehicle on 07/02/2026, it broke down again with the same issue that was supposed to have been fixed. When I contacted the shop to report the immediate failure, I was told it must have been something I did, even though the vehicle had barely been driven since leaving their shop. They refused to take responsibility for the failed repair or offer a reasonable explanation. I had to pay the tow service because I wanted it towed to my residence instead of being towed to Butler Automotive again. The business charged a substantial amount, did not fix the problem, and then suggested towing the vehicle back to their shop--potentially to charge additional fees. After paying $2,500, my car should not have broken down the same day. I paid nearly $200 for diagnostics alone; they did not even diagnose the issue properly. The tow man told me immediately that the alternator or the battery is the issue; it's the fuel injection system. I asked that it be checked when I gave them my car to fix, and they clearly ignored me and obviously didn't even do a diagnostic test, and their mechanics can't be smart. Butler Auto is A SCAM. Money-hungry liars. I cried to them, literally cried, begging them for help with the bill. I let them know my situation that I couldn't pay $2500 upfront, begged for in-house financing, and they refused to help in any way. Desired Resolution: A full refund of $2,500 for ineffective repair services. A written explanation of the diagnostic and repair process. Accountability for the immediate breakdown following service.
