I went into this neighborhood sports bar, thinking it would be a fun local spot to watch Phillies game. To my shock and deep disappointment, I realized I was surrounded by a bunch of retired firemen/policemen/construction workers who were all rabid MAGAs. While I ate my sandwich and drank a beer, I heard them casually use the N-word, talk jokingly about going to the "Home Depot parking lot" and shooting "illegals", disparage neighbors who had Black Lives Matter signs on their homes, and praise John Fetterman for standing up to the "libs" . I was disgusted and lost my appetite. Did not realize that places like this still existed in Center City Philadelphia. I won't be coming back, ever. Beware. Besides all of that, the food was mediocre but fine I guess, and the beer was reasonably priced. read more

RUDE A**HOLE BARTENDER! i joined a friend for karaoke and the bartender cut me off from going rudely and informed me i had to buy something first. nowhere is that displayed + my friend already bought something and frankly, it's crazy to drive away business in an empty bar, especially cause my friend and i are hot, young women. we left that bumb shi after that ofc but shoutout to the bouncer he was actually nice read more

I met someone here for drinks. Parking: Metered street Atmosphere: pubbish Service: Great! Kayleen was very accommodating and engaging. A very pleasant person. Her Boss wasn't so engaging, but that's ok, Kayleen made our experience good. Our drinks were good. We just ordered fries and a salad. Overall, we enjoyed our bar conversation and would go back if in the area that time of day again. read more

O'Neals Pub - A great beer on tap! - Pubs Near Me - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

O'Neals was awesome! Passed by on Friday afternoon right before happy hour and got to experience some great banter with the bartender. The service was a big part of the experience, all the staff were welcoming and shared their stories from working at O'Neals for some time. The loaded baked potato was soooo good, I remember the freshness of the chives and the crunch on the bacon. There is ample seating and they keep the patio doors open providing a nice fresh breeze. O'Neals is definitely a landmark for Philly, they have a great beers on tap and a variety of "mystery" drinks from the fridge. I'll definitely be returning the next time I'm in Philly. read more

We were staying at an Airbnb nearby and decided to try O'Neals. What a find! Its like the kind of bar I wish was my local, drinks are good, great choice and very reasonably priced (compared to London!). Staff (Sue) was lovely and has great craic with the owner Spoonie, we even thought they were married! We felt welcomed by staff and punters. Was relaxing to while away a couple of afternoons watching sport we didn't understand and then stumble back to our house. Plus the are an Everton Supporters club bar. Different cheesesteak #1029 in the last four years. It was Tuesday. I was with amigo Dan. I'm going to do an Amigo Dan and only talk about the things we liked. We got the O'Neals Pub cheesesteak with Mushrooms. We liked sitting outside on 3rd St on a lovely afternoon. We loved the $4.50 Margarita's (they were going down faster than Sue could replace them). The cheesesteak was $10.50 (50 cents for mushrooms) and came with very good sweet potato fries. read more

PHILADELPHIA: Brie did Philly!!! Her first stop was at O'Neals Pub, a divey sports bar a few blocks from the Delaware River! Dogs are allowed inside on the main floor and also at the outdoor seasonal beer garden (there is a 2nd floor, but no dogs allowed). It's an old building and small/narrow, so we recommend going during the week and during the day so your dog is comfortable before the happy hour and weekend crowds fill the place. They also have a nice food menu (Philly cheese steak anyone?) with reasonable prices and the super friendly bartender will make some recommendations on cocktails or from their huge list of beers. We kept it local with a Philadelphia Brewing Co.'s Walt Wit. Brie always meets people everywhere we go and this time we ran into super sweet Debbie, a volunteer with Street Tails Animal Rescue, based in the city. If you're looking to add a pet to your family, consider adopting from here! read more

This past Sunday I was in town from Atlanta and found O'Neals from a "Steelers bars" Google search. A majority of fans were watching from the 2nd floor bar tucked in the back corner. Sound was on, there were plenty of TV's, the bartender was awesome and the Yuengling on draft made this a 5 star experience. What really set O'Neals apart was the kindness I received after calling to let them know I had left my purse at the bar, but was about to board my flight back to Atlanta. The owner was incredibly friendly and offered to ship it to me the following day. I was in full Panic mode, and can't thank the staff enough for putting my mind at ease immediately. Oh! and PS- the perogies are phenomenal!! read more

One of the bartenders was as rude as I've ever come across. Friends and I came to have food after a show, arrived around 1030, no one fretted us upon arrival. My friends sat outside as it was a really nice night out. About 5 minutes after standing at the bar, the bartender finally came to greet me, in the most unfriendly tone. He asked if I was sitting outside, in which I replied that my friends were outside, he quickly stated that outside was not available for service. I dont want to keep digressing, however when I went back to my friends and the bartender talking to them was the complete opposite. What a tragic ending, to a fun night. read more

Overall, this place has a lot of potential to be so much more and to make so much more but sadly the service we experience was insulting and subpar. I ended up tagging along with friends on a night out and went with them to check this place out. I was warned that the karaoke experience is really bad. And honestly, as an avid karaoke goer- not much phases me anymore. Whether it is long lines or just bad sound systems, I generally dont mind it enough to leave a bad review. But when DJ Jerry, their current karaoke host, constantly disrespects people he does not know and treats the ones he sees as regulars with preferential treatment - I think its fair to call it out. Whether its calling the crowd "b****es and gentlemen", talking over loudly while people Dj Jerry doesnt know sing, intentionally putting people last in the lineup, bumping up his cronies to an absurd amount or literally screaming at a kind woman next to me who simply wanted to sign up- his hosting, service and even equipment was abysmal. I will never know if the food is good nor do I think I would ever want to come back to try. Dj Jerry did not make me feel welcome and honestly, the rest of my friends and as well as even strangers i did not know. I watch his blatant disrespect for patrons. Funny enough- when our whole group of paying patrons started leaving, we were suddenly called to karaoke. AS IF BY MAGIC - we were suddenly up next (after waiting more than enough time for our turns) By then, we had enough. No, you cant bribe us with the mic- when the problem is the MC. You want an actual karaoke experience in Philly with great respectful host, amazing sound quality and atmosphere- i recommend going to National Mechanics every 1st and 3rd Sunday or Bob and Barbaras or Cockatoo. Any other bar in this city is absolutely better than this read more

Great place to drink, shoot darts and watch a game, but I'd never eat here. Once saw a couple sitting at a table with their dog and in the light could see dog hair and dander flying all over the place. Gross ... and stupid to allow. To the owner: Well, there was light coming from somewhere. My eyes don't lie. read more

Disappointed to hear that Alexis has been let go due to some reviews on this app. She is the main reason I have become a regular at this bar for karaoke. I was present for an incident described in a previous negative review where a large group came in for a birthday party. I didn't really notice them in particular till they were leaving, but they certainly did not leave quietly as was claimed. Instead they were all yelling at Alexis and one member of the party got behind the bar and refused to move. I have always found Alexis to be welcoming and attentive to the needs of patrons. I will be going to one of the many other bars that have karaoke instead if Alexis is no longer working there probably Adobe Cafe. read more

My fiance and I have been going to oneals for 8 years. 2nd floor Karaoke with Dj Jerry(look him up and hire him, he is the best and really knowledgeable). The bartenders Previously Phil , presently Alexis(probably the main reason we go cause we follow Jerry all over). Both great bartenders who like to sing and will remember you and your orders/choices ... the barback "Stausssshhh" might be my favorite human in philadelphia. The food has been great most of the time... it can get busy so order early. The darts is/can be fun. Dj Jerry and Alexis make you feel like family . It can get really packed pretty quick... sometimes you sing 8 times sometimes once it really is a roll of the dice... 1 bathroom on the 3rd floor . read more

After reading the big review (incoherent review) that happened with alexis makes no sense! as a regular who has been going to Oneal's for more than 10 years...it is far from perfect. but Alexis has NEVER referred to Oneal's as "her bar" she is not racist. she always makes announcements before she sings to let everyone know that she will be with them as soon as the song is over. she is only nasty if someone is nasty with her. to fire her over a karen makes no sense. why not counsel her? ask her not to sing for a period of time? but to just fire her over some person who probably wont come back anyway? alexis was a selling point when i would tell people about oneal's pub. Idk what i should do now. Bc i love jerry. But i cant stand to let this be done to a good person. read more

I stumbled upon this place on accident walking through Philly. Turned out to be a pretty solid place. Pretty typical bar food with a few items that would qualify as Irish pub food. I was able to get a patio table with a propane heater right next to it and there was a TV outside with a soccer match on so that was cool. I got the $5 burger special and a pint of Guinness...no complaints here. Its not fine dining but if you go in here with realistic expectations you will probably really enjoy your experience. read more

It was my birthday on October 20th and I had a few friends celebrating with me. We wanted to go to a karaoke bar that night which is why we picked this spot. I was very disappointed with the vibe starting with the manager and it got even worse with the bartender that was working on the second floor. The bartender had a very nasty disposition from the start. Needless to say, I won't be returning to O'Neal's Pub and I will not be recommending it to anyone else. read more

First time (as an adult) in Philly, and while I'm not a fan of cheese steaks, this place caught my eye. I have a think for dive bar type places, or little hole in the wall pubs such as this one. I just feel like you get the best service, types of people, and food. And i wasn't wrong with this spot. You walk in and you are greeted by the warm smell of fried food and beer. Blasting Irish music as well as random songs (it was karaoke the night we went) i will suggest they just constantly play Irish music though, maybe some Flogging Mollies?! Anyways, i had the fish and chips & Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was actually terrible and I'd suggest never getting it ever (if you're reading this remove it from the menu) and my BFF got the Chipotle Sandwich but with a burger. All of the food was so yummy (except for said Mac and cheese) would definitely make a stop next time I'm in the area. read more

Just to take a moment I'm reading and some of these reviews are so inconsistent with my and others' experiences...I just want to say that the head bartender, Alexis is wonderful and the reason why I kept coming after my first visit...she is protective and well meaning and always looking out for her customers and the welfare of others. She is friendly, warm and always looking to make people more comfortable. It feels like a safe place to make the unsafe effort of karaoke for some of us! And it feels so supportive. The regulars follow suit and are very encouraging, and we always share how lucky we are to be surrounded by such wonderful staff. If she is no longer there, many people are going to be very upset and heartbroken. I am just floored about this. The crowd is diverse and all ages are welcomed and I always bring my friends from out of town or old co workers and they always say what a staff and what an experience - and my friends are of diverse backgrounds...I even have came across out of towners who revisit, too. read more
