Not only did Alan give us suggestions, but he went out and purchased items to bring in and display them for our review. I felt he went above and beyond what other contractors would do. Our house was out-dated. We have a fairly small house, so we need to take advantage of every square foot. Alan and his team helped us design everything so our vision came to life. Alan was easy to reach every day and he always communicated his timeline for completion. He's very dependable. In addition, he worked within our budget. I would highly recommend Alan Walker for any renovation.

I cannot say enough good things about the team- they were consistent, thorough and extremely amenable and easy to work with. They came in and did our demo, leveled and installed our tile flooring, all drywall and mudding, ran new plumbing, electrical and gas lines, painted, installed backsplash (impeccably might I add), our gas range hood, and installed all our appliances. While we did outsource the slab and cabinet installation- the team made it extremely easy to work with several contractors, and in many instances even managed them on our behalf as if they brought them in themselves which I was extremely grateful for. Cannot say enough good things about Jose, Dennis and the team. Would recommend to anyone as a kind, honest, and skilled contractor is hard to find.

Cal Retrofit was contracted to do the soft story retrofitting for our small apartment building. As…read morea tenant, I was very impressed and appreciative of the communication they had in the form of notices and providing all of us with Tenant Habitability Plans, as well as answering phone calls and emails. I was able to call the main office number and speak to someone directly when I had questions, and they even had specific departments for things like parking, etc. They answered all my questions big and small. The Field Operations Office, in particular, was responsive to both my calls and emails. The gentlemen that originally came by to post notices (I don't remember his name) took the time to tell us the whole process, including what might appear as delays, answered a number of questions, and managed to quell a lot of worry we had. Every person I spoke to was professional, knowledgeable, helpful, and patient. Cal Retrofit is a class act and I'm grateful they were the company that handled this project. Thank you to everyone there! For those who might want to know, the process took about four months, but the crew was not there every day. It ranged from a couple of times a week to a couple of times a month. In between was waiting for inspections. At every step of the process, an inspector needs to check out what was done and potentially new plans might need to happen, so it takes awhile. Usually notices were posted when they'd return, often I would email and my emails were answered. We have neighbors with newborns, people who worked night shifts, and people working from home (of course), so I wanted to keep on top of the days the crew would be working. Demolition happens first, then the retrofitting, then rebuilding what was demolished. Cal Retrofit will answer your questions about the process if asked.

it's really sad that companies like this are still on the market and doing the business…read more They're working in our building for 6+ month remodeling 4 units and the processes they're "managing" are poorly done. They don't clean the common areas and we're living in construction dirt and filth, "manager" is constantly lying and tries to pass the responsibility to others, they can re-do the work several times (like AC, plumbing). Deadlines are failed - we have been promised by management that work will be done till the end of April. It was a surprise to learn that they performed the work for 3 months without obtaining any city permit for that, which is considered a huge violation. They mess with our cars parked on the paid parking lot, they hit our walls and holes are not repaired until we complain million times, they open the doors daily and let the homeless people enter the property, they forget to close the doors and garage gate for the night. If you thing to hire them - run. It will be the best decision, not to fall for their fake reviews made by bots or friends.

Trusted Path Roofing was working on a house nearby so I want and talked with one of the workers and got the manager to come take a look the next day. He immediately saw the cause and said it'd be a very quick and simple fix. He put me on their schedule a few days later. Victor came at the agreed time -- on time -- didn't have to nag! Woot! The fix was done very quickly, less than 30 minutes and for less than $100. When we got the leak a few weeks ago during the rains, I was so worried about getting it fixed, getting estimates the whole thinkg, you know what I mean right? Welp, this was as easy as it could have been. All the people I dealt with (Victor and Jose) we are professional as could be. I'm very glad to have met this company and will not hesitate to give them a call in the future as need may arise. Five stars. ALL. THE. WAY!

In late January 2022 I had a company "Stay Dry Roofing" come out to my Pasadena house to give me an…read moreestimate to replace roof shingles that had been damaged by the latest Santa Ana winds. I was under the impression that the company was a small family owned business but they were not. They were a large corporate with offices in cities all over SoCal. The rep from the company gave me an estimate of about $900.00 and stated that the earliest he could schedule me was a week away, and that the repairs would take 5 hours. He stated that he could schedule me in if I left a 40% deposit. I was not comfortable with the estimate, the scheduling, the request for a deposit for a minor roof repair, and I fact that I felt that they were trying to take advantage of me. I told them that I would think about it but I never called them back. I surfed the net and found Trusted Path Roofing which is a small family owned business from the Pasadena area. The reviews that they had were all very positive. I called Trusted Path Roofing and spoke to Hector who was nearby at another house giving an estimate. Hector told me that he could be at my house within an hour and he certainly was. Hector showed up with his brother and inspected the roof. Hector gave me an estimate of $150.00 and stated that he could do the repair the following day. Hector's brother showed up the next day and made the repairs in about 30 minutes. I went up on the roof with him and he pointed out all the repairs that he made. He also fixed a metal flashing that was bent and at the bottom of chimney stack. He also added a sealant to some exposed nails that had protruded out from the shingles. If not sealed, water could get under the nails and under the shingles, and cause damage. I advised the bother that prior to any major rain or storms, that I check my roof to see if any areas need to be sealed. The brother gave me two tubes of the sealant before he left in case I needed it in the future. I was so happy with the service that I gave the brother a tip before he left. I plan on replacing my roof within the next year and Trusted Path Roofing will be the 1st company that I will be calling when I want estimates. I was impressed by Hector and his company and would recommend them. They all seemed like very hard working and honest people.

Three of those projects were on a 1920s Spanish triplex, where we modernized all the units while preserving its original character, including converting a three-car garage into an ADU. We also fully renovated a mid-century ranch duplex and are currently converting its garage into another ADU. Gary's extremely easy to work with, communicative, reliable, and cares about the quality of his work. He'll give you his professional opinion when needed, but he listens to what you want and never tries to push his preferences over yours. His subs are solid, his pricing is reasonable, and he's always been accommodating when little extras come up outside the original scope. After five projects together, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him. Finding a contractor you trust and actually enjoy working with isn't easy, and that's why I keep hiring him.

He is a competent professional and trusted contractor with a solid team of subcontractors who have been doing this work for decades. With this renovation, we brought our 1912 Craftsman bungalow down to the studs. This was a full-gut renovation that involved replacing all mechanicals, drywall, new bathrooms, new kitchen and doing a primary bath addition. With Gary's construction expertise, we were able to restore the home while maintaining its original charm and bring our design to life. Some of Gary's many contributions included framing a new tray/drop ceiling, installing custom window and door casings to match the originals. He also rebuilt the front porch railings and reinforced the porch ceiling so it would accommodate a porch swing. He built our backyard studio shed in just a couple days and it's adorable. While nearly everything is new, you can't tell. And that is a compliment to the quality of craftsmanship. Gary doesn't cut corners and it shows. It is very important that you trust your contractor and that they have integrity and do what they say they are going to do. Experience is also very important. Gary has all of this. We will definitely be calling Gary for the next house we buy. We can't recommend him enough.
