Review of a friend & her recent vehicle purchase at Barts Car Store in Columbia City: Bought a…read morevehicle drove it for 4 days, not even 500 miles & the engine blew up! I was told I had 30 days through Bart's & also purchased the extended warranty for 2200 dollars! I called them the next day & had it towed back there. I had to pay the tow bill! My car sat there for 9 days without any answers. I called every day! I left voicemails for the service department with no return call. Day 9 the salesman called me & said "we think it's the transmission control module & we can't get that part it is on back order nationwide. We are sorry, we really tried to help you. You will have to take it to your mechanic!" 3 days later I was able to get it towed again with another tow bill I had to pay. My mechanic found the starter was not firing so he replaced the starter, & it would not start! With further observation, my mechanic found that the motor locked up & burnt up the starter! My mechanic called Barts & he was told I bought the extended warranty & I would have to call them! So I filed a claim. They sent out an adjuster & found that there were metal shavings in the oil pan & filter. The oil on the filter was like gum & the oil filter was rock hard! I was told this vehicle was fully serviced when I bought it! That proved to be untrue. The adjuster & my mechanic estimated that the oil hadn't been changed in over 20k miles due to the way the oil filter looked. So now the warranty company is voiding my warranty that I paid 2200 dollars for & will not cover the motor! My mechanic was informed that Barts was going to come get the vehicle! I called them & talked to the salesman because the manager wouldn't talk to me. I was supposed to get a call back & have not received one! I gave them 22k dollars for a vehicle I drove 4 days & they fraudulently sold me a warranty that is now voided & they will do absolutely nothing! I also talked to the manager at the Fort Wayne store named Adam & was told that all vehicles are serviced before they are sold & that maybe the salesman's didn't know that this one wasn't serviced when he sold it! So you sell me a vehicle that was not serviced & lie to me & now I'm responsible for 10k in repairs! No offer of help, no vehicle to drive, nothing! I am now on day 21 with no vehicle & out a 1k dollar down payment along with a car payment & motor repairs!

They've always treated me well at Evans and the team is made up of Good People. I'd certainly recommend friends and family pay them a visit for any of their car needs. Added bonus... Doug Morris has been my insurance agent with Evans Insurance Network for the last year and he called me one day just to tell me he could save me fifty bucks a month by simply switching me to another one of their insurance carriers. How cool is that? I don't have to make the calls to various insurance companies - Doug Morris does it for me!! I'm telling you, there is no better Insurance agent. I saved a hell of a lot more than 15%, more than double that actually. Evans Toyota is a class act organization. I've read some of these reviews on here and it shocks me... Sometimes the only reviews a place gets on this Yelp are negative and in this case, the company services a hundred people every day for a reason - Good People = Good Service. Check into this place for your next car service, rental, purchase, tires, parts - even your auto insurance and you'll be most happy you did.

I found the truck I liked on a google search and one of the choices was Preferred Auto. Their truck was my second choice but stopped there first to check on one unit. Toyota Tundra pickup truck. Alex met us outside, but I was ready for his used car lot tactics. He was super nice, but I knew he was up to something. I told him I want to take the truck for a drive and he immediately agreed? Let me grab a plate... Ok, this guy was up to something. Heh heh, can't fool this old timer. We took the truck for a couple of hours, ran it by my mechanic. Advice from mechanic: Great truck, good price, go for it. Back to the lot... Alex met us and Jake the sales manager and then, holy shit, Jay the owner pops in! He's the dude you see on The Preferred Auto TV commercials. It was funny. Jake is his son. I made my offer, they counter offered with a vey fair price and we all shook hands. As it turned out also, my wife Lisa, knew Jay from high school, so that added another hour of shooting the breeze. I know this is my longest review. The buying experience at this car lot was so honest and upfront just super impressed me. Alex was great and thoughtful. Trust me, this is a great group of people selling cars! Plus you get free car washes for life! Good guys, go see 'em. Thank you Alex, we love the truck. Mike :)

I debated on whether to bother writing a review and how to explain it in 2,000 letters or less…read more Challenging but I'll try to stick to the highlights. My son bought a used Kia less than 50k miles the end of October. It's already had recall repairs prior to my son buying it. About 3 months later, vehicle broke down randomly in Toledo. Contacted this dealership, repair went okay with some push back from service. I don't expect my son to be treated special or above another customer. Ethan made the 2nd repair as difficult as possible. First repair, no loaner available. Okay. Vehicle broke down Wednesday, DOA. Towed to service Thursday. Exactly 30 days after the last recall repair. He already went without his vehicle for approximately 10 days a month ago. I was told it would be at least a week or more before it could get into service for diagnosis, no loaner available again of course. After a few conversations with Ethan, then Chris, my husband plugged in our own ODB reader. After some checking, service determined it's the engine 'death code', and related to the recall. It took my husband less than 5 minutes. I don't expect my son to be treated special or above other customers. But I did expect him to be treated like a valued existing customer. The loaner they claimed wasn't available sat unused all weekend long. We went to service on Saturday, we seen the loaner they finally gave him on Monday. They had to bring it into the bays to defrost it. Wipers were hard frozen from the weekend ice storm. It wasn't a new loaner, it was being used as a loaner. It was available when Ethan called me Monday morning around 9:30 am. I mentioned I would come down and wait in the lobby for a loaner, probably talk to other customers while I'm there. Coincidentally, a loaner was a available less than an hour later. There's not enough characters to fully explain the terrible experience with service. I had to give my debit card, completely open ended, just to get the loaner. A blank check with no limit. I was told it was required for 'incidentals'. Basically I had to take the dealership on good faith. Another coincidence that 2 other customers said they didn't have to do that under similar circumstances. I presumed they would treat him like any other valued customer. Keep in mind this is a NHTSA recall, a manufacturing defect. You're not doing a favor for customer's by fixing something that should have worked properly from the beginning. My son is young, he'll buy many cars over the years God willing. Due to how he was treated by service, he will never buy another Kia. And we have been sharing his experience with numerous friends. I noticed the more recent ratings for this dealership are getting worse. Hmmm. There's not enough characters to outline everything. Don't buy Kia.
