I've serviced my car (s) there, I've rented cars there ( Dave Renner is The Man!! ) and I will end up buying a Toyota there soon. They've always treated me well at Evans and the team is made up of Good People. I'd certainly recommend friends and family pay them a visit for any of their car needs. Added bonus... Doug Morris has been my insurance agent with Evans Insurance Network for the last year and he called me one day just to tell me he could save me fifty bucks a month by simply switching me to another one of their insurance carriers. How cool is that? I don't have to make the calls to various insurance companies - Doug Morris does it for me!! I'm telling you, there is no better Insurance agent. I saved a hell of a lot more than 15%, more than double that actually. Evans Toyota is a class act organization. I've read some of these reviews on here and it shocks me... Sometimes the only reviews a place gets on this Yelp are negative and in this case, the company services a hundred people every day for a reason - Good People = Good Service. 5/1/2025 Update: We were also sold on a warranty plan to cover specific items. Surprise, they now tell us that the list of things on that sheet are not actually covered, and as a fun kicker they signed us up for the wrong warranty. Do not buy anything from this dealership unless you plan to potentially have a worst case scenario experience, only to then have them tell you to kick rocks. Highly, highly, do not recommend purchasing with them. Editing for post purchase experience: I purchased a vehicle over a month ago that I can now not legally drive. We had zero communication from anyone at Evans on registration paperwork we needed, only to spend hours waiting to hear that they had lost the title and apparently decided to not inform us. They then decided to give me a dealer plate that I learned I was unable to use out of state (and apparently in state as the BMV says that it's only for dealer owned vehicles) on a trip we had planned post purchase. I am now out quite a bit of money on having to purchase extremely last minute plane tickets and a rental car because I cannot use the vehicle I purchased and have already started making payments on. read more

They want to buy my car bc it's in high demand, but they never have the tires I need. The service dept never answers the phone, and they don't return messages. This is the last time they will be allowed to touch my vehicle. Will be looking for a new place to shop and get service. The operation has certainly gone way downhill since I first bought there 7 years ago. 1 year ago, they said my filters weren't dirty when I asked to have them changed. 6 months ago, they said, "Oh look! I took my pristine 2016 Camry in today for its 3rd oil change (17,000 miles). I had an appt. but it still took them 1.5 to complete. Drove home and was contacted by Evans telling me the tech. forgot to put the oil cap back on the engine block. Unbelievable. So, I pop open the hood and as expected there is oil sprayed about and underneath on the garage floor. Needless to say, I was livid. They sent a couple of guys out to put the cap back on and then took my car back to their shop to clean the engine. The did return my car the same day, but the final kicker was all the oil and dirt they sprayed my engine with was all over the windshield and front of my car. I just washed and hand cleaned it yesterday. I just shook my head in disbelief. Quite frankly I just wanted them to go away. What a clown show. btw - I'm not going to ask but you would think it would be good business to maybe offer up some sort of refund for my 110.00 oil change. Evans sent out this mailer saying you won something and that you need to bring it in to confirm. I called in to see if it was real or not and they were very short and sarcastic. I went in and the salespeople were immediately sarcastic when I asked about it saying "everyone's a winner." Turns out they sent this mailer to all of fort wayne saying they won, when your silly little ID number is if you actually won or not. I normally wouldn't care, but with everyone struggling right now, tricking people to come in and then being sarcastic to them is not very cash money. This is the second time I've purchased a car here. I love the staff and how friendly and willing they are to nd the perfect vehicle for me. They also do a good job on making a deal and both parties agreeing on that deal. I love that they have massage chairs a snack area and games kids can play. They made financing o. My first car super easy and this vehicle I paid cash and I was in and out very quickly. They even recleaned the vehicle to get the interior very clean. When I picked it up it had a full tank of gas and smelled amazing. I love the vehicle so much. Only drawback is that you have to deal with the salesperson then the manager then the finance man then get all the paperwork and the mailed me the title info the day before the temp plate was due. The car that I decided to purchase was low on gas so it was worked into my deal through text that my salesperson was supposed to get me a full tank of gas to sweeten the deal. The car wasn't ready at the time that I drove it because it needed service work and it wasn't ready again when they told me to come pick it up so I ended up going back three times before they gave it to me with a half-assed detail job and almost no gas. My salesperson wasn't there when I picked it up and they didn't want to give me the gas and told me to come back the next day after arguing with them about it and being told they legally only have to give me 6 gallons in the state of Indiana. My wife and I were looking for a vehicle that would handle at least 6 passengers. When we arrived at Evans Toyota, the salesman approached us, and confidently told us we were going to find the vehicle that would work for us. This was in March of 2020. They brought us a 2008 Chrysler Pacifica. Not sure if they just received the vehicle, but it was not clean on the inside or on the outside. We were looking to drop $3000 cash as a buyout to avoid making payments. He assured us that he could help in this situation. The car was "as-is" and we were fine with that as long as the car would last a few years until we found something else. They barely cleaned it and sold it to my wife and me. We knew there might be some problems because you do get what you pay for, however, we were not expecting to drop $600 2 weeks later for a poor touch-up job their service department did with the hoses in the engine. We also did not expect, when we got the oil changed, to find out the frame of the car was rusted and would probably only last us 1 year. Again, I knew we would have problems, but not like that. So, we decided we would not complain because the car was only $3000, then the tires fell off because the bolts that hold the lug nuts were rusted. We got that fixed. Then the tires burst because they were "shot". We replaced the tires. Then we were told there were holes in the frame and our intermediate pipe had fallen apart from the muffler and since the frame was rusted, fixing it would be a short term fix. We knew there would be problems, but we feel like we kind of got screwed out of our $3000. Seemingly a dealership would at least sell someone a car that would last more than 8 months, but I guess that's not the case at Evans Toyota. Maybe it was because we only wanted to spend $3000. I just feel some way about it. Thank God for another dealership that actually sold us something that would last. I will never shop here again because if you can't take care of me when I'm spending a little, I'm definitely not coming back to spend a lot. Took my car in to this dealer to get diagnosed, they had the car for 3-4 days. When i got there they told me they couldn't find the problem with it. After researching some local mechanics, i found one that figured out the problem within the day. Take it back to the dealership to order the replacement part i needed. Pointed it out to them on the diagram of my vehicle and everything. Waited about a week. took my car in, waited 2 hours for them to install it and program it. they finally come and grab me to tell me they ordered the wrong part. how. wait another day for them to overnight the "right" part. They then put the "right" part in. i get the car back. 2 days later the problem persist. bring the old part to my mechanic, he says they replaced the wrong one. its not even close to where i had showed them what needed replaced. im now out 900$ as all they said was "sorry" after i came in asking if they'd be able to fix it. Don't think i will ever be coming to this dealership again. You are better off going elsewhere, trust me. read more

A friend of mine bought her car here and routinely takes it here to have it serviced since they sold her a high dollar warranty that comes with service and maintenance look at what great work they do. She was having tire problems and went to get it looked at of course they say new brakes and rotors then in the spirit of true professionalism forgot to fasten a bolt into the caliper. I am surprised at how bad the lease experience was, from start to finish. Near perfect credit, plenty of income and cash down. I should have listened to the reviews. I was expecting some sales tactics, but what I experienced was spot-on a stereotypical slimy used car dealership experience. Extended in-office wait times on multiple occasions taking hours when it was "10-15 more minutes," signed paperwork and put down thousands to "secure the vehicle" just to have them later say the price per month could no longer be honored - and this was after multiple promises to honor the deal agreed upon, spanned multiple weeks, pressure applied to take a new deal because one manager couldn't honor the deal of the manager who wrote it up, and so much more. The last straw was the manager (older gentleman, short white hair, different colored eyes) taking an aggressive tone and attempting to stare me down, in front of my kids nonetheless, must be a tactic that works for him? I ended up walking out. Talked to my kids on the way home, and they expressed some fear and anger regarding the manager's behavior. I used it as a teachable moment about integrity and doing the right thing, example of how not to treat others, etc. The whole way home I kept wondering why a company would treat people that way, as it gains them nothing but a negative reputation in regard to their integrity. It must work though, as they are still in business. They won't actually miss my money, and I'm okay with that, but negative word of mouth reviews among family and friends has a realizable impact - how are they simply okay with that customer experience? Should always focus on wowing the customer and shooting straight, whether it is good or bad news. It garners respect and eventually sustained business, as opposed to a sales model built on lies, pressure, stringing along, etc., and it was all so obvious. Oh well. read more

Unfortunately I've had one too many poor experiences at Evans Toyota regarding getting my oil changed/car serviced. Their service department heavily overbooks and it truly takes longer than it should to get oil changed here. We dropped off my car last night for a 7:30 AM oil change. Customer service called to confirm oil change/tires inspected and said I could pick it up between 10/10:30. We arrive and it wasn't ready, but not only that, they hadn't even started working on it yet and didn't bother to call. We will be taking our vehicles elsewhere unfortunately. read more

If there were a way to give a negative review...... I would do that instead of one star. I took my Toyota Highlander in because my Driver side window Fell inside my car door. I was told it would be roughly $250-$300 to fix it. After having my car for three days., It's now $897. They also performed a couple of other services that I didn't want. Nor did I agree to them. Like cleaning my battery. Popping my hood to see a bunch of leaves and debris in my engine clearly nobody touched it. Then I go to leave roll my window down and it falls back into my door. Not fixed!!! They wanted to try to put my window up and have me leave. I said no and after having my car one additional day now I have a scratch on my door. Granted, I have not actually picked up my car yet since it was on order BUT I had the BEST experience I have ever had at a car dealership here and it was all over the phone. Kevin was amazing - from the time he text me to getting the final monthly payment squared away he stayed in constant communication with me and even got back to me without having to reach out to him. This is my second brand new RAV-4 that I have purchased and this experience tops the last one by MILES! I hate to read all the negative reviews but I am so glad I did not let them deter me! Every other dealership I called acted like I was an inconvenience just for calling. Kevin is the best and I highly recommend asking for him when looking for your next vehicle! Bought a 2014 RAV4 awhile back. It was missing the door speakers that produce the bass and also had a large chip in the paint they said they would take care of but never did. We agreed on one payment but in the end they doubled my payment with a bunch of garbage I didn't need or want. When replacing my license plate lights, they removed and replaced the hatch handle instead of following the procedure in the owner's manual. (removing the screws) The hatch handle broke off the first time I opened the hatch after getting the car back. Went back to the service department and I was told they couldn't do anything at the desk and that I had to email the manager. The manager never responded to my email. I left a 1 star review with the Toyota survey and was called by Evans employee. Then the manager left a voicemail saying he would call back later that day. He has never called me back even after I left a voicemail. Clearly no care or concern on Evan's Toyota side to resolve issues with their service. I recommend staying away, because if their service causes issues, that is your problem, not theirs. read more

I purchased a used car from Evans Toyota on April 30 and it was a terrible experience. The vehicle I purchased was never properly inspected and should never have been certified as a Toyota Preowned Certified vehicle in its current condition, despite being sold to me as such. I willingly paid a premium to Evans for a dealer-certified vehicle, which is not what I received. I quickly uncovered all these items soon after taking possession of the car. Potential buyers should beware of this before paying the same premium to Evans who markets its used vehicles as certified. The only person who paid a price for Evans' mistakes was me. The negligence by Evans cost me over $2,200 in non-refundable state sales tax and doc fees, which I will never get back. Thankfully I was able to find another vehicle that suits my needs at another reputable dealer, despite this frustration and unrecoverable costs. I'm leaving a 2-star rating rather than 1-star because the customer service manager, Kathy Waters, was responsive and helpful in remedying this nightmare. Evans did eventually allow me to return the vehicle, but only after numerous trips back-and-forth to the dealer, hours of haggling over items that were reluctantly or never addressed, and losing more than $2,200 in this transaction. Full story: During the purchasing discussion, I noted the splash shield underneath the car was hanging down. I also noticed the car's inspection sheet was incorrect for this particular vehicle. Both of these items led me to question whether the car had been through an inspection, despite it being labeled a "Toyota Certified Vehicle". I asked Evans to complete another inspection as a condition of the sale, to which the Sales Manager agreed was appropriate. Also, there was a strong chemical smell in the car, which my salesman was confident could be removed. I picked up the car two days later. Upon returning home, I noticed the same splash shield was still hanging down, suggesting Evans never inspected the vehicle as promised. The smell was also still there. I took the car to my mechanic the next day. He found several minor mechanical issues which were part of the Toyota 160-Point Certification Inspection. It was obvious to my mechanic and me this car was never inspected by Evans, despite being advertised and sold as such. During my third week of ownership, the car threw a check engine light for one of the reasons uncovered by mechanic but not uncovered during the non-existent Evans inspection. I returned the car to Evans at their request. After a week of service, Evans identified the car did indeed need a replacement item, which was then back-ordered from Toyota at the time. During the time it was in service, it also underwent two treatments to remove the smell. All of the service workers noticed the smell, with one even commenting the smell stuck to his clothes. Ultimately, the smell was not able to be removed. Throughout this entire 2-month process, the car was at Evans for 27 days of the first 36 days I owned it. I made 7 trips to Evans during the month of May 2019 to remedy Evans' consistent negligence and oversight. The Sales Manager, Wade Brown, never accepted nor returned any of my calls after my payment was made. The only two people who were helpful were the shuttle driver and the Customer Service Manager, Kathy Waters. Ms. Waters met with me twice to present my options for dealing with the car. Ultimately, the Sales team were unable to find a substitute car that was similar to what I purchased, so unfortunately my only option at that point was to return the car back to Evans at a loss. read more

Been coming here for 10 years now. It has always been excellent until this year 2014. I don't know what changed. Service is still courteous, enthusiastic, and pleasant. But my couple of previous repairs were horrible. After I received my car, I noticed a small piece was missing in my dash. The technician made me look for it myself in my car. He admitted to forgetting to install it but he insists that he left it in the front passenger seat. So he kinda wants to blame me for losing it. So I came back by telling him that it's not supposed to be on the passenger seat. It's supposed to be in the dashboard. So how is that my fault if it's lost now? It could've fallen off the car or one of my kids got hold of it. Gollum could've mistaken it for the Ring Of Power. For whatever reason, I'm not the one who lost it. Service offered to replace it if I pay for the labor. It's a $30 part. So again I told them I should not pay for anything at all because I did not do anything wrong. In the end we ended with a weird agreement. They will do it all for free, but I have to have them do some other very minor lightbulb repair for them to do. Then they will charge me $30 for that repair. My last visit broke the camels back. I went in for a squeaking noise in my drive train. All I got in return was this... the noise was coming from the transmission. It $4900 for a refurbished trans installed. Ahhh... they didn't even try to find out what in the transmission was wrong. After declining the repair. I drove the car for 600 miles and even towed a uhaul trailer with it. No other noticeable problem but the squeak. I later noticed a piece of metal hanging under the car. It was an exhaust mount. Had it removed by a different shop. Squeak gone. 10 years down the drain. I hope you read this Mr. Rick Evans. read more

When we visited this store, the person we dealt with was pretty good, but he definitely steered me in a direction other than where I told him I wanted to be. I don't really have a complaint with him. Somehow I ended up on an email marketing list of Evans, which is fine. One day I received a promotional email and I replied to the correct address and explained my situation and what I was looking for and the reply back I got was "Sorry, you received this email by accident." Um, what ? Isn't your business SELLING cars ? I want to BUY A CAR. So I replied and tried to clarify and again asked for help, and again got a stupid response. I finally sent it to the manager and essentially told him how well he'd trained his people to lose sales - and heard nothing back. When it came time to turn in my truck, I want to Fort Wayne Toyota, and it was the easiest car experience I've ever had. I highly recommend you take your business there. read more

I have had other experiences trying to purchase vehicles at another Toyota dealer in Fort Wayne and also Indy and Evans has always earned my business. We are waiting on a 2014 Highlander that we signed a purchase agreement for on 3 June 2014. The problem we've had with the dealership is getting updates. It's been a struggle so far. Our sales rep has been non-existent. The sales manager has at times dropped the ball in calling us when he said he would. Now we're dealing directly with the GM. A vehicle that we thought would be delivered by the end of June is still MIA. We understand that some things are beyond the dealership's ability except for providing us information, which is totally within their control even if the news isn't good. read more

On the plus side there is a great customer area with soft drinks and snacks, comfy leather chairs, tv and wifi. Service too about an hour--I did not have an appointment. It's now been three hours and: The price they quoted was not correct - they upped the price $75 from the price they quoted on the phone and the one that I signed. I have a 2006 toyota. I signed up for the 100,000 club. You are to receive $19.95 oil change and a car wash. My husband took my car and they charged him $72.01 for an oil change and tire rotation. ON A 2006 TOYOTA WITH NO CAR WASH. They said it cost $25.00 to rotate the tires. Check my math but that's only $44.95. Where did the $27.06 extra come from. My husband has a 2017 Silverado and with synthetic oil and only pays $65.00. I have been taking my Toyota to Evans Toyota for 12 years and this is how they treat me! NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!! My review stems from just trying to get a question answered and to schedule service for my vehicle (2 phone calls, several emails and contact with the sales dept) ...and I was a so called "valued customer". After unsuccessfully trying to find an answer, I asked to be removed from their mailing list. That got a response! They said "Ok...sorry for your bad experience". They would rather lose a customer than answer the simple question. They have no customer loyalty and their customer service is appalling.
