Dr. Prajapati was my dog's vet when since she was 9 weeks old. We initially only went to him for vaccinations since my dog (Bella) didn't even live till age 2, never had any problems until August. He misdiagnosed her three times which left her suffering for weeks before she died. Please do not go to him for anything other than vaccinations, he doesn't know what he's doing. Our vaccinations visits were great, it was quick and fast, he was always in a rush but that was fine considering it was the only affordable shots in the area. But I didn't realize the red flags of dismissing our concerns and the rushing till it was too late.
Here's the long story for anyone interested. I hope no one makes the same mistakes I did of bringing my precious baby to him.
Initially Dr. Prajapati owned/ was working at the O'Connor Veterinary Clinic. Then after our second visit we were informed he no longer worked there and now works at East Side Animal Hospital, where I brought Bella for her third visit in that month. I mention this because I am now wary of both vet clinics.
August 1 she started vomitting, August 2 I brought her to Dr. Prajapati, he gave her tevafamotadine said that maybe she ate something and the med will help with the vomitting
August 08, brought to the him again because Bella started walking with butt down, and refused to eat. Dr said it was because of the anal sac, he expressed them gave her gabanetin and clavamox. -bella would yelp and cry in pain despite the pain med. would not eat, I had to force feed her with a syringe.
I called the vet, concerned about her pain and not eating, told me to come back after meds are done in 1 week. Bella started to chew on her paws whenever she's in pain/started with licking then it escalated to her just yelping in pain. It was heart wrenching.
I trusted his advice and waited for the week, hoping the meds would do it's magic. It did not, of course. Bella still would not eat and would chew on her paws. Brought her in and Dr. Prajapati said it was bc of allergies, gave her vanectyl and even suggested we changed her food to the ones they sold. We ended up buying two of the purina canned food.
That night Bella whimpered and cried all night, at that point I knew that was not allergies and ultimately decided to get a second opinion. We went to him three times in a month, hoping and praying he knew what he was doing. My brother told me I should bring Bella to another vet after the second visit, but Bella has been with him since she was a puppy (for vaccinations) so I argued against going to another vet, trying to convince myself that he was competent.
The next day we finally go to another vet where they immediately found a tumour that was causing a blockage in her intestines, they rushed her in for emergency surgery and she died on the table. If he had figured out the problem when we first came to him, if I had listened to my brother about changing vets, if I had changed anything. Would she still be alive? Bella was in pain that whole month, poked and prodded and given unnecessary medications from his misdiagnosis. read more
