It was difficult to only pick a few entrées, to try, but I think our favorite was the seafood. It was crowded and a little difficult to maneuver with a stroller when we arrived around 3 PM. The tables are set up for sharing and we were lucky to share ours with a wonderful family finding out we had connections to the same state in the US.

Jamie W and I have been to the smaller Time Out Markets in NYC (Union Square and DUMBO), but we could never find our footing in these places. This one has the distinction of being the original Time Out Market, so it's had over a dozen years since its opening in 2014 to develop its cred with dilettante foodies and insufferable vloggers. At the same time, the rigid conformity of the food vendors to the Time Out brand makes this place feel far removed from the family-run businesses where you can get a more authentic ambiance and for the most part, cheaper prices. Paying the equivalent of $8 for an overdecorated donut may produce momentary Instagram gratification but little else (Photo 8). That's not to say the layout here isn't well organized, but basically you're relegated to long communal tables where your movements are restricted. Being elbows-to-elbow with famished, arm-waving tourists is not ideal. We were even here during off-peak hours, so I'm presuming it becomes more chaotic and cacophonous during lunch and dinner rushes, especially with the reverberations created from the high ceilings (Photo 9). With dozens upon dozens of food choices, this place is ideal for large groups who have no interest in exploring their own dining options, the ones who are perfectly satisfied with hanging out in food courts in shopping malls. We ended up getting three from Portugal (all different types), a blue from Spain, and a pecorino from Italy. We also got a salad with burrata, as well as a plate of Portuguese ham. Everything was outstanding, but the Spanish blue was the biggest standout for me. I really can't recommend this place enough -- the staff was fantastic, and the food was even better.

They also sell cured meats and wine. The place is split into two parts. One side is more of a market, and the other side is the tasting room. After the sampling, we sat down and ordered our plates and some wine and kicked back to an amazing meal. The server was great and they even had high chairs. We were the only ones in the whole place too so that helped. It is nicely decorated and well priced. What else can be better?!
Awesome owner.

Today I'm thankful for this, one of my favorite places to eat in Lisbon…read more It's off the beaten path, and a lot quieter and more accessible than the Time Out Market. If you're looking for a good daytime activity in Lisbon, get over here with all your friends, eat all the things, and then window shop/actually shop as you wander back toward the city center. There are a LOT of different stalls manned by very personable people, and we split up, ordered whatever we wanted, and reconvened at all of the very comfortable tables to eat everything. We had: ramen, two different steaks, rice and beans, salad, fries, oysters, shawarma, a few different baos, candied nuts, and one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. And honestly, it was all pretty affordable. There are even some cute little clothing shops, if you ever get tired of eating. I don't, really. Truly, a great stop in Lisbon.

We bought a red and a white and a white that were excellent. They accepted credit cards .I'm told there is a good farmer's market there on Saturday's. Some basic Portuguese was needed for the vegetables vendor but the young woman in the olive oil store offered to speak English. This was a fun experience we won't forget.

We had reservations for a party of 2 on a Saturday at 6 PM. When you check in, they give you a slip of paper which has a QR code on it for you to access the menu later, and we were promptly seated upstairs. The menu is conveniently available in several languages (you select your language at the bottom of the main menu page). We were at a long table for 6, with us sitting on the inside and another couple sitting at the end, and the table settings in between us were cleared, so it didn't feel like we were on top of one another. I appreciated that the server gave recommendations that would be good for two people. We went with most of his recommendations (shrimps on garlic sauce (it's labeled as spicy, but it's really not), clams on garlic, tiger prawns grilled on bed of salt) and added some of our own (razor clams and lobster roll). All the seafood tasted fresh, bursting with flavor from the buttery garlic sauce, which we sopped up with garlic bread. The bread is brought to the table when you first get seated. It's not free, which I was aware of, but I knew it would go well with the dishes we ordered. The razor clams were juicy and sweet. The lobster roll was good, but not something I would order again when there's so many other fantastic seafood choices. I usually don't drink beer, but felt that it was appropriate since we were at a cervejaria, so I ordered a bottle of Sagres Bohemia. It went perfectly with the seafood. My SO, who doesn't drink alcohol, got peach iced tea. I wanted to get the prego sandwich for dessert, but my SO was pretty much full at that point, so I ordered a tarte whisky and a cappuccino for myself. The whisky ice cream layer in the tarte was nice and refreshing. I was shocked when we got the bill and it came out to less than 50€. This meal would have cost so much more in the US. You pay via tablet at the end and I left a generous tip in appreciation of the wonderful meal and service. They get you in and out of there quick, but it never felt like we were being rushed out. I highly recommend this spot if you are looking for some fresh, delicious seafood in Lisbon.
