Many thanks to Yelp CM Maddalena for having uncovered this gem of a burgher joint and choosing it…read morefor the last Elite event before Christmas. It was just around the corner from where I usually stay in Mergellina in Naples, but somehow I had not yet discovered it. What can I say? Even though it is cozy in size you notice just walking in an attention to detail that promises the same attention in the food and service the comes in later. Large bay windows, wooden tables and fixtures, a surrounding blackboard on both walls advertising the quality and surprising variety of hot sandwiches and appetizers on offer. Even the bathrooms, proportional in size to rest, are detailed and clean. I particularly like the potpourri tucked into bedroom slippers. Then of course there is the beer. An excellent selection of craft beers led by Piedmont's Balladin. And a smaller but very interesting selection of three tap beers. The food tries to find the right mix of ingredients found between local specialties, km0, Italian specialties and a fee international products that are rare in Italy but part of the hot sandwich tradition in a Europe and America (this is the first place use pastrami I've found in Italy's south). My evening was similar to Thursday's menu where you can try collections of their sandwiches, but in miniature. The burgher with. Marcheggiana beef was particularly tasty. And if you are not worried. About your waistline they have tasty chicken fingers fried in corn flakes and fries made from targeted km 0 potatoes.

I tried the Arrabbiata, spaghetti with clams, spaghetti with lemon garlic (€10 each). I was also informed that their sandwich breads are also made with sourdough which looked pretty good as well. And the house wine is one of my favorite wines. As a non wine drinker, this wine wasn't too heavy or "alcohol tasting" and had a little bit of a fermentation fizz. And the owner grows his own grapes right outside on the terrace. (€3 a glass or €9 bottle) The food takes a min to come out as they are cooking it fresh for you. The only thing I wouldn't suggest is the desserts. The tiramisu is a big skip and the pear and ricotta cheesecake was just okay. Good pear flavor but not a real cheesecake. Both were subpar. Stick with the wine! Random spot with a unassuming name, but it's worth going to if your in the Amalfi area.

This was the best meal we had during our 2 week trip in Italy. The owner's son, who was very…read morefriendly, waited on us and also cooked the food. His father made the wine, which was a delightful light slightly effervescent red. The crust on the pizza capricciosa was amazing and the toppings all were delicious, including perfectly salty and flavorful whole olives. The "Crazy Antipasto" cane with tasty meats, cheeses, and some fried items. My pasta dish with tomato sauce, sausage and veggies was really good. Not pictured is the pomodoro salad, which was made up of delicious tomatoes, basil and olive oil. They grow their own basil right there and seem to grow many of their vegetables. I wished we could've tried all their dishes! The name nay be unusual but I highly recommend this restaurant.
