Beware. This gas station is bate and switch. Advertising gas price of $5.49 a gallon. So I stopped went in paid cash $140.00 for a fill up. Walk to the pump and noticed it says $5.69 a gallon for the cheap gas. I went back in and asked about it. The stoned out of his mind clerk tells me that is if u buy a car wash. I said. Well don't u think it should say that. He said the city approved this. They had a big vote over this. So any ways. I check with the city this afternoon and no such thing. There liars for sure and they are tricking people to think they are getting a low price and turn around and stick it to you. Example. I paid $140.00 for 24 gallons of gas. At $5.69 If I got there advertised price I would have saved a big $4.80 and there cheapest car wash is $8.00 So if you go in and spend $70.00you have to spend $8.00 to get there advertised .20 cent discount which saves you $2.80 So there pushing this. This used to be O'Briens Station, a local family-owned gas station. A few months they sold out to Mobil. (Not sure, but I think the family may still own the place, just using Mobil for the brand.) Anyhoo, this place does a decent job of staying competitive with their prices. Also, it is fairly conveniently located near the 5. If you're getting off the 5, the trick is to turn left onto Saxony and then right into the Mobil station. read more

This place is AWESOME if you are looking for a trustworthy and totally by the book mechanic! Tony is incredibly knowledgeable and very very sweet... he even showed me how to do a few things, so I wouldn't have to come and spend money next time! He took his time and explained everything to me. I went in for a headlight replacement and he was less than half the price of other places in town! I also asked him to check my oil and he did and said "Oh my! I can't let you drive off like this, it's not safe!" and put some of the garage's own oil in and then showed me how to check it again in the future, at no cost. Your car wash is wonderful, but when using a credit card, even for the $7 wash, the card reader attempts to authorize a $100 potential purchase. If your credit or debit card has less than $100 available the transaction is declined. This happened to me a few weeks ago, and instantly I got a text message on my cellphone from my credit card issuer stating that a $100 authorization was attempted but declined. Now, I go into the store to buy a carwash and get the pin to enter. read more

All the guys at O'Briens shop are knowledgeable and kind. I usually get to work with Tony, and he is patient and explains everything part by part. I never feel pushed into getting more work done than necessary and I always feel like my car is in great shape after I leave their shop. I highly recommend this local shop. I stop here all the time and I've only had 2 unpleasant experiences, both with the owner (the woman with the blond hair). Everyone else is great. Today I was getting a sparking water and the blond lady in there slamming things around and then she goes out the front door and turns around to yell at the cashier "If you do it again you're fired!" Then proceeds to yell on her cell phone outside in front of customers. I ask the guy, "so that's your boss, huh?" He replied, "yeah" she's mad that one of the guys in the garage was helping someone with a flat tire. Wow lady, I'm aware of the potential liability but you have got an anger management issues. And the fact that you talk to people like that is disgusting. Get your life together and stop blaming others. A simple talk or civil write-up would suffice. Not a public spectacle. My car shows the gas mileage, and I regularly check the mileage after I refill. (I usually refill when the tank is pretty much empty.) The premium I got here basically is giving me 15% worse gas mileage. This is a ridiculous rip off. read more

I have been a long time customer of Tony. I called him and said I needed a new battery for my car because there was acid leaching on top of the battery. He told me to bring it in the next day and he will take a look. He told me I didn't need a new battery, the white powdery stuff on the top was calcium deposit. Said something about the electromagnetic field of the battery and the negative and positive charges interacting to create calcium deposits. He saved me from buying a new battery which would have cost a couple of hundreds of dollars, whereas, most mechanics would probably have given me a new battery. He cleaned out my battery and, on top of that, he topped off my oil and a gave me a free car wash because I really needed one. He wouldn't let me pay him, he told me if I need help with the car to come see him. This isn't the first time he's helped me out free of charge. Tony knows that a strong business is built through having strong customer relationships. He's not out to cheat people and make the quick bucks, because we will never come back for seconds. He treats his clients like his friends and family. I can echo the other positive reviews because what they said are true. I'm very surprised at Mr. O'Brien, a long time, good business person in our community, for pulling a gas station scam. The station purposely switched the 89 octane mid-grade button with the 87 regular octane button on all of its pumps. (See other photos on YELP) 93% of all cars use regular, not mid-grade, Most people don't check, they just select the button on the left, assuming it is always regular, which it is it reputable stations. So tonight I just paid $ .10 more a gallon than needed. Stopped at 5 gal's, so Mr. O'Brien; a) owes me 50 cents, or b) missed out on a 20 gal. fill up because of this scam. I won't go there again 'til I know its changed. read more

My "service engine light soon" came on and I was in the are so decided to stop here as I commute to work and didn't not want to drive my car without knowing the issues were. First of all they charge $120 for an inspection to diagnose the problem of my car... RIDICULOUS! Then they informed that I needed a new battery which of may be true in order to further the diagnostic but were going to charge me an amount higher for the battery that I can get cheaper at Autozone (which is where I got my battery, cheaper too) or Walmart. I did appreciate the mechanic there who took me aside and recommended where to go and what to do if my car started acting up as I coudn't stay there and let them take anymore money that I have given them. Once I took my car to another automotive service the inspection to diagnose my was FREE. I wouldn't recommend this automotive repair service to anyone epecially if they charge $120 inspection fee. read more

Let me start by saying that i have never left a bad review of any place because i think its a huge waste of time. That being said, i have an 83 bmw that i brought to Tony (towed in) for a bad misfire and not running right. Tony had the car for nearly 4 and a half months! All the time i would go and check on it and the car looked like it had not moved since the day i brought it in there. Keep in mind this is a classic bmw that is not cheap and in very good condition. The car was covered in leaves and dust, literally looked like it had been abandoned in a field for 20 years. From what i took out of it ,they dont care for customers cars at all. I would talk to him on a daily basis practically and he always had an excuse for why he hadnt worked on my car that day. Example, "it was too hot outside" (keep in mind its in encinitas and never got over 85 degrees), the parts that he told me would be there on a certain day somehow never ended up being delivered, or it was the wrong part and had to be replaced. I mean completely bs excuses. He seemed like a nice guy for the most part but never did what he said he was going to do. Now the kicker. He called me one day and said "youre not gonna believe this, but i got the car running fine, youre gonna have to come look at it for yourself". When i get there, my car still looks like it hadnt been moved at all other than changing the parking spot. No effort to clean it up, no gas in the tank(literally empty) ,and my intake wasnt even hooked up to the car. He continued to tell me how it was running perfectly. I asked him why he hasnt put the intake on or tried test driving it and he said there was no need because of how awesome it was running. I put on my intake and got gas at the gas station . decided to take it for a test drive seeing as how he didnt even test drive it or make any effort to ensure his work. The car bogged out and died immediately upon me going up the small hill on saxony. Basically i really dont think he ever touched my car or did anything he said he was going to. I got my car towed out of there in a heartbeat, and i would NEVER let him or his mechanics touch a single part of any car i own ever again. On a side note i took my car to Escondido German Auto and they had my car running within 5 days of me taking it in. Tony had my car for 4 months and didnt inprove it whatsoever. I would highly suggest not taking your car here, and frankly i dont understand how he has any customers with that type of mentality and worksmanship.
