There was a secondary job of replacing a small outdoor shower enclosure. The discussion about the door was thorough with replacement - something which normally comes in around $1000 - $1500 (door & labor) - suggested as the best choice. For the shower, I was given some suggestions for a larger, nicer enclosure. I did agree to get an estimate for that as long as I also got one for a simple replacement of the smaller walls and the shower head. That meeting left me feeling pretty confident in this company. After a couple of weeks I had to call to see if an estimate would be coming soon. They apologized for the delay and sent me the estimate later that day. $9000 for an amazing sounding, spa-like outdoor shower. No estimate for a straightforward replacement however And more importantly, no door estimate. When the mistake was brought to their attention, they did apologize. Then sent me the same estimate again. Last night I received a new email - not an estimate for the door but an invoice for it. No estimate or description of what would be done. Just a bill of almost $4000 for a door and work which didn't actually exist yet. Something had been vastly confused in the shower, but I'm puzzled that after that I'd still receive a stunning bill for a non-existent door One which I imagine would be incredibly epic on the little beach cottage it would end up on.

The only snafu was a scheduling mishap in the beginning. Because replacing the windows meant being in the house, I had scheduled time out of work but they had to reschedule on me. He offered to take money off as a result. In the end, he gave me a new storm door free which they offered to do because mine needed repair. The work is absolutely beautiful! They reinstalled all lights and even went out of their way to put in a new doorbell on one door because the old one was so dated. At another point I was home and tripped a circuit breaker which wouldn't rest and needed N electrician so he even called one for me who turned out to be top notch. Very reasonable in price, extremely professional and I am thrilled with the work. They were recommended by a co-worker who also couldn't say enough about them and has recommended them to several people; all of which he said were thrilled with them. 110% recommend. I will also note that I did get two other quotes (sort of). One was higher and the other just kept asking what my budget was saying they would make it work.

We just finished a major project at our home replacing every window and vinyl sided the entire house. After doing some research and getting 3 quotes, we decided to go with Vinyl Concepts. Signing with Vinyl Concepts was, by far, the best decision we very made for our home. Within a few short weeks, Chris and his team took our home from drab to truly a show place. I cannot imagine another firm being able to do this as well. Their attention to detail and pride in their work was incredible. The project started with stripping our entire house of the old clapboard, replacing all rotting wood underneath the old clapboard and basically bringing the house back to better than new. No other contractor would have gone to this level of care and professionalism, and the materials they used to protect and beautify our home was nothing but the best. We have had everyone from neighbors to delivery folks to complete strangers and even to our mail carrier stopping to take the time to let us know how beautiful our home had become. The bottom line is, I would not consider another firm for a similar project to ours.

We hired Lawrence Builders (LB) in the Fall of 2016 for major renovations of our master bathroom…read moreand kitchen for our Rhode Island home. The initial thrust for these projects was our desire to replace outdated cabinetry. Below are the major problems we encountered, our concerns, some positive experiences, and our opinions regarding LB and our projects. Our intent in writing this review is to provide our honest opinions and experiences with LB's business so our RI neighbors can have unfiltered information about the pros and cons of doing business with LB. We're puzzled as to how and why the following issues materialized having worked with many other builders/designers on many other projects over the years: 1. Partial overlay cabinetry was selected for both the kitchen and bath without consulting us. We ended up having to pay for both our desired full overlay cabinets and half the cost for the partial overlay cabinets that were non-returnable (thousands of dollars). 2. Within days of turning on the water to the new toilet for the first time, we had a major leak from the area around the toilet. We ended up paying $8,000 out of pocket for the repair. LB initially agreed to pay half for the repair after inspecting the area where leak originated, but recently decided not to pay because they didn't believe they were at fault (our side disagrees). We've decided to move on. 3. We requested that a bathroom faucet set that has a lot of sentimental and historical value to the home be re-installed. We ended up spending significantly extra for a vanity stone top, though desirable to us, did not accommodate the faucet we wanted to retain. We would've liked to have at least been presented with stone options that accommodated the desired faucet set. 4. We had multiple cracks in our newly installed kitchen glass backsplash. We first thought that they may have been from many people congregating in the kitchen area at one time at parties. However, a tile expert who visited our home thought it was more likely due to L-cuts that were too tight and a potential need for more flexible adhesives/caulks around the L-cuts. There have been no more cracks since LB's L-cut repairs, even with two large house parties since the repair. 5. The dumpster left a gouge along two-thirds of the length of our driveway. We had to discover this on our own a few weeks after jobs were completed. We will be saddled with replacing our driveway. You can't just patch a chipped stone driveway. 6. There were some very minor leftover jobs left at the end of the projects. Instead of withholding our last payment until these items were addressed by LB, we made final payment to LB assuming these punch list items would be resolved. LB never showed to handle these items or to fill in deep holes left by LB's advertising sign after multiple follow up calls. We paid a painter and landscaper to handle these items. In writing this review, we wanted to be fair, truthful, and balanced. We didn't want to lose sight of some of our positive experiences. LB's owner Steve is a friendly and hard-working individual as are John and all the subcontractors and office staff (Lisa) who work with him. The visual beauty of the final work can't be denied. Steve is green-conscious, responds quickly to most client communications, is calm under stress and also exuded a client-friendly vibe in the early stages of our relationship. We are not leaving our relationship with LB angry or vengeful, but sad and disappointed.
