I researched many flooring companies on Yelp. Got 4-5 quotes. I am giving you a real account of what transpired.
Although O'Bracken Flooring has very few reviews vs others. I liked the vibe I got from Andy when he came out to give me an estimate. His pricing was good, and projected lead time of 3-5 days vs others who wanted to cover up my old school 2" wide x 1/2" Thk red oak wood floors. With fake or rugs.
They laid down a swatch of colors, prior to laying down the first coat, since I was undecided on the final color. Of course I picked a color that was somewhat new, driftwood by Bona. Came back Sunday evening and the first go around was not what I had hoped for. The stain didn't go down as planned, this is day 5. In my opinion, I should of gotten a phone call from Andy that Sunday to tell me the stain was not uniformed on all the edges and some stains were visible from missed sanding. Instead I came back Sunday evening and identified the issue with the floors immediately. To be honest, I did not stress or feel like Andy was trying to pass the first go around off. Although, not saying anything can be viewed as trying to pass it off, heres some advice for great customer service. A quick call saying the floors did not turn out to his standard and would need to be redone, would of shown a level of service I provide to my customers. I'm in sales and deal with customers daily, the one thing no customer wants is a surprise and to be kept in the loop if thing are not going to plan. This is the reason for the 4 Star rating, would of been 5 stars, had a few small detail had been done correctly. See below. Once we identified the floors needed to be redone, Andy and Ivan jumped on them and finish the project, total time was 12 days. I understand unforeseen issues arise and was not to bothered with the delay. Especially since they Nailed the second go around. Beautiful, pics speak for themselves and made it right with a discount for my troubles, although it was requested not suggested, as it should have been due to all the issues. That my opinion.
Overall I would highly recommend Andy and his team.
The biggest reason is his willingness to listen, learn and get it done to the customers satisfaction. Thanks Andy!
1. House was left covered with all the saw dust from the first sanding, than just before the finishing of the floors the barrier was cut between the kitchen and living room, with fans a blowing to air out the smell from floors, a light coating of sawdust was transferred to my high end equipment, including my 4 month old OLED TV, Receiver and Xbox one X. And kitchen aka my room until project was done. A lot of money and concerns about future failures of my electronics. Anyone who knows electronics, knows this can be really bad. Although time will tell.
2. I had to ask him to make sure the second go around was not as bad as the first and to cover up my new fan and to clean up after themselves, I am not sure what the etiquette is when it comes to contractors. My rule of thumb is I should not have known you were here and should definitely not have to clean up after you! Which I did have to wipe down all fans, rooms and closets. 4-5 hours. Bathroom had to have a complete cleaning covered in sawdust 3-4 hours...Not cool but, my beautiful floors make it easier. read more
