A good out of the way pizza shop in the Bronx. This is behind other buildings, near townhouses and…read moreapartments. Mostly had Fordham college students eating there. I think people only go here because they know about it, or like us, find it randomly on Google maps. There is a little parking lot. The pizza and pasta were both good. NYC style! The restaurant is filled with paraphernalia, photos, graffiti, and other knick-knacks. I don't think that was for show, they just never throw anything out. Even Mr. Pugsley himself was sitting in an overstuffed chair, falling asleep with his X-Mas hat in the front of the store!

It's got a thin crust, nicely charred, and the sauce was well balanced, not too tart or sweet. We followed with a penne vodka slice to which I added the recommended hot pepper oil. The pasta was cooked just right and quite tasty and chewy. Finally, I had to try the new tricolor slice - thick stripes of red sauce, vodka sauce and pesto. Delicious combo. Pugsley's is not easy to find but definitely worth seeking out. If you attend Fordham, you already know it, but otherwise, its located in a building that hasn't changed much - outside or inside - that looks like a high school hangout from the 60s or 70s.

They made sure to stop by and make sure the apps and entrees were okay and they were. It was my first time trying the black squid ink linguini. As one should. I ordered the Pasta al Forno, which showed up hot, cheesy, and very much not interested in being subtle. Comfort food doing the absolute most -- baked, sauced, and bubbling like it knew it was the right choice. One would think "Boiled eggs in pasta?", but trust me, the bechamel sauce takes it to the next level. Ms. J. went for the daily special: Radiatori in Cartoccio, cooked inside a sealed pocket of aluminum foil and opened tableside like a little pasta reveal. Steamy, aromatic, and frankly a bit of a showoff -- in the best possible way. And then there was the Tiramisu. We shared it (heroically), and I'm just going to say it: top-tier tiramisu. Not too sweet, beautifully balanced, rich without being heavy -- one of the best we've had in NYC, and we do not make that claim lightly. We both love tiramisu. We both judge tiramisu. This one passed with stars. Zero nonsense, big flavors, and a tradition that continues to age very well. We'll be back. Obviously. ‍

No taste on the regular slice. I came in for a quick slice since I was driving thru the area…read more Parked my car on a meter and walked in. Asked for the a slice to go. The man behind the counter was very friendly and smiling big. It was pleasant. I asked the slice to be cut down the middle. I put seasonings on one and nothing on the other half. Unfortunately even with the seasonings, there was no flavor. The sauce was bland and cheese was super oily. I might overlook that if the crust was nice and crispy but it too was flavorless and VERY doughy. You know when you can taste the doughy flavor? Yuck.... Let's put it this way.... My dog didn't even want it! Sorry to say it was not enjoyable and I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to come here again. Also, for this sad slice, the cost was $3.50! If I work and spend most of my time in Manhattan and even on the upper east side a good slice is $2.50-$2.75, with most places offering lunch specials 2 for $5 with a drink. Joes pizza was disappointing. I'd much rather go down the block and pay the extra $10 for a delicious sandwich from the Italian deli.
