Probably one of the better $1 slices I've had in the city. I'm also biased to this place because I live across the street but I think the slices are great. The service is always quick and the guys are really nice. The slices are always hot and fresh, with a crispy bottom and soft, doughy crust center. The slices actually have flavor to them which pair well with the textures. You can even get a combo here of 2 slices and a pop for less than $3. Can't really beat the convenience and cheap eats deal here! read more

Never have I regretted such a 99 cent pizza in my life, but guess I was spoiled by the 2 Bros dollar slices in Chelsea on 26th and 6th. I bought it and instantly thought to politely ask them for my money back and go very, very far, far away in a peaceful ghandi-like hunger but I gave in because I was hungry and couldn't take it anymore. It was everything a pizza shouldn't be: super thin, hard, burnt cheese, barely any pizza sauce. I ate it since I paid for it then afterwards asked the guy who I ordered from, if the pizza had been sitting for a long time. He didn't understand because it seems English was not his first language, so the pizza cook confirmed yes it had been sitting for a while. I responded that I could tell. So nice that he was honest and didn't take offense, as I was respectful and not trying to be rude, just needed to know what kind of mess I had allowed myself to consume. I felt like Jim Carrey in the Ace Ventura scene when he kept adding pieces of gum in his mouth til it changed the shape of his face and it looked like he had two packs of gum in his mouth all at once. Calgon, take me away! I ended up in the Amish Market down the street devouring a $5 cheesecake to make my mouth forgive me, then I had to chew gum even still. These guys are the best. They are open late, always nice, and the pizza is always hot. Been here a bunch of times. Ya know what? Now that I think of it...sometimes their pizza is too hot!!! The average dollar slice leaves you feeling pretty "meh." It gets the job done, but it's nothing to talk about. I have to say NY Fresh Pizza has the best dollar slice that I've had so far. Nothing about it makes you feel guilty or terrible after eating it. It has a nice thin, crispy crust, a good amount of sauce, and cheese that isn't like congealed plastic. Any additional toppings are $0.50 each, though I haven't tried them yet. That said, don't come here with overblown expectations. It's a tiny hole in the wall with cordial service and solid, super cheap pizza. That's all it is, and that's all you should expect. This is relatively "ok" pizza. The old adage of "you get what you pay for" applies here: it's $1 (or $8.99 for a whole pie). The sauce is fine. The crust is fine. The cheese is fine. Toppings are extra...and not too expensive. It is strongly recommended that you eat the pizza in the store on one of its few high-top tables. Once it starts to cool, it turns quite hard. Prices are on par with other places like 2 Bros: Extra Large Pie $7.99, Two slices with one can soda $2.75 -I love loading up my cheese slice with oregano, spices and cheese -The crust was slightly on the thicker side. -The sauce was almost the right amount but could use a bit more flavor. -The cheese had the right portion. Keep this in proper perspective, it's a one dollar pizza shop. That being said, it's run as professionally as it can be (especially the gentleman in most evenings).
