I tried this place to satisfy my curiosity, fueled by a propensity for adventure and novelty, only to be met with what was exactly expected: a lackluster piece of cardboard that is trivial, frivolous, and insulting to any palette, let alone those privileged enough to venture to one of the food capitals of the world. If you are in a rush or in entrenched in a protracted financial struggle, this place may be a keen choice; be it as a one-off or with regularity. If either of these do not apply, there is not a single redeeming thing I can say about the food. Dry. Lacking flavor. Bready but not doughy. Hard but not crispy. Absent any toppings or points of interest. Purely an exercise in utility for the shrewd consumer, or futility for the overly trusting one.

A decent utility slice of pizza that costs 1.50 a slice. Two slices and a coke is 4 bucks. You can't get any cheaper than that. The pizza does need more sauce but has a fair amount of cheese and was piping hot. I appreciate them having garlic powder and red pepper flakes for easy sprinkling. Place is tiny and workers were efficient. It's not the tastiest slice but it's a good ny style of pizza that's fresh that's good for a quick bite. So quick that I forgot to take a picture of the food lol

It's a dollar for a large cheese pizza slice, how can you complain? I guess if you order the specialties, but then you're at fault. Why not go somewhere higher quality for specialties when they're similar prices ($4-5) a slice? My friend asked for one slice of cheese and was charged $2 so I was like oh, I might as well get some pepperoni for $2. Turns out they thought he wanted two slices so he won with two large cuts of cheese versus my one pepperoni for the same price. The worst part is the pepperoni is literally a cheese pizza with three pieces of pepperoni and those three pieces adds another dollar. If I'm only rating the cheese pizza, which is the fair option, this place is above average. I'd visit here any day for a quick bite especially at that price. It's not like they skimp on the cheese either, there's a fair amount for the price. Crust is soft and not crispy, but its alright, again it's a dollar. I'm pretty holistic with my judgment and won't knock a place down because I know it's low quality and I'm expecting it to somehow be more.

At times there not much more you can expect from a $1 a slice pizza joint. Yeah, it's a bit worn looking and grimy inside as many of these places are. Service is gruff and not too happy. The sign on the wall proclaims it's the best $1 cheese pizza slice which is laughable. At least there is a table outside the front door to eat your mediocre $1 slice of pizza. Kind of dry and tasteless. What do you expect? It's a $1 slice of thin cheese pizza.

Classic $1 pizza trip! Satisfies any and all late night cravings, and was the best snack after a long day. Classic quick service and fresh pizza! Love the crust. Pizzas were almost the size of our face

My favorite $1 pizza spot! Open late so you visit after a night of drinking. Nice crunchy crust, yummy sauce, and gooey cheese. Can't get much better than that!

It's a dollar. It's a slice. It's pretty damn good for a dollar. You fold it and the paper plate it comes on. Bliss. Although it may look a little light on the cheese and sauce, once you bite in you'll find, as has been mentioned elsewhere in these reviews, the ratio between these and the crust is close to ideal. (This isn't a "blot-off-the-grease" kind of slice.) A lot of times I'll find myself wandering around the neighborhood wondering what to get for lunch, and a quick nosh here is like the perfect Hell's Kitchen appetizer for, well, anything. Also, perfect late-night snack. The place does a booming business, so your pizza is likely to be very fresh. Even the slices with extras look enticing, but then they're more like $2 or $2.50 slices, and drifting into Amadeus Pizza territory (bigger, more excellent, but more expensive). Service is always quick, don't forget to give a decent tip. You might consider avoiding around three in the afternoon when local schools let out. Just a suggestion.

Browsing through the internet to find the best $1 pizza and a random website recommend this so off we go. Well, it's the typical NY pizza with thin crust and cheese. I don't try the other pizza so I can't comment much or compare it with other place. I would say overall it's okay. Nothing spectacular, but not bad either. The crust is not dry, but the cheese wasn't to the degree that you can do a cheese pull. The size is decent, depending on how hungry you are, in general 1-2 should be enough. Regardless, it's pretty wonderful that we can still find something to eat with just $1 in a city as fierce as NYC

It's a very small place so here's some people for scale. Taken from the doorway.

The arancini was a standout: perfectly crisp on the outside, creamy inside, and served with a rich, delicious sauce that tied it all together. We ended on the tiramisu, which was absolutely worth saving room. It was light, flavorful, and a perfect finish to the meal. What really elevated the experience, though, was the staff. Everyone was genuinely kind and helpful--especially notable for New York--and it made the whole evening feel relaxed and welcoming. A small heads-up: it's a bit tricky to find, so give yourself extra time. That said, the hidden, underground subway setting is part of the charm and makes the whole experience feel unique. I'd love to see more restaurants creatively use these kinds of spaces in the future.

It is located right in the hallway of a subway entrance, next to a bar and across from a coffee shop, and it somehow manages to feel like a cozy, sit-down restaurant right in the middle of NYC. Don't let the odd location fool you, the food here is outstanding. The Neapolitan and Sicilian-style pizzas are both exceptional, with rich, well-balanced flavors and perfectly executed crusts. Every bite tastes high quality. Also, don't skip the house-made lemonade! The experience is even better because of the incredibly friendly and attentive staff. They were all so kind to so many people. From offering to keep leftovers in the fridge until a customer was done at their broadway show, to offering a scone to a young child while he and his father waited for their pizza to be done, it was more than just flipping a table and onto the next tip, it was humanity at its best. Be sure to give See No Evil Pizza a try. You certainly will want to come back again for more.
