This one was about 1400 square feet. After 3.5 hours, they said they were finished. I did a walk through and found so many spots that were still dirty. I asked for those spots to be redone (there were quite a few), did another walkthrough, and ended up having to clean it again myself. Instead of offering to do a second walkthrough to make sure they didn't miss anything else, they just stood around waiting for me to point more stuff out once they thought they were finished with the spot I pointed out. For example, there were a bunch of facial hair shavings in a drawer that got missed. I asked if they could go back to clean it. They did and came back downstairs, so I went up and checked, and there were still hairs in it! So I ended up cleaning them out since I needed to get back to work quickly and didn't have time to find every last thing that didn't get cleaned in this house. As I've done a couple more walkthroughs, I've found things that need to be cleaned that are absolutely not excusable. If I'm paying $400 to have a space cleaned, part of that is for a cleaner to be able to see what needs to be cleaned and to take care of it. I canceled the third cleaning job and wouldn't recommend this company to anyone if you're counting on the space actually being clean. EDIT: I offered the option to come earlier in the day to avoid the heat or to use the air conditioner, and they chose not to do either of those. I did not receive any communication that the upstairs was too hot or that a fan was needed (which I could have provided). The cleaner said she wiped down all of the walls. The attached photo is of fingerprints left on a door.

I used them for cabinets a couple of years ago. Andrea was a pleasure to work with. The process…read moreto design is fun and makes you feel like a rich person. Everything went great, but then we recently noticed black mold behind one of them. The home was brand new, so this seemed a very strange coincidence. They have a limited lifetime warranty, and I reached out. They did open a claim and came out to inspect. They took off the bottom cabinet and found no damage on their end, so I opened a claim with my insurance. The remediation company came out, and they were baffled on what happened. They had to remove the floating shelves installed above the cabinet and found those screws punctured the water pipe, causing a very slow leak. After showing this to California Closets, they said too long of screws were used. Things happen, and people are human. This has been a long process, but they were professional and repaired/replaced/reinstalled the cabinet after the remediation had been completed. They're hopeful it won't happen again, so fingers crossed. Shout out to Cam, who was helpful throughout the process. The reason for 3 instead of 4 stars is that their insurance company is impossible to get a hold of and denying everything. 4 months into this whole process, and it's still ongoing. A lot of time invested on my side to ensure the homeowners claim is closed out. Zurich American is an interesting company.

With 8 years experience as a designer--300 home remodels (custom kitchens with custom cabinets),…read morehere is my recommendation for California Closets product. Now retired and no affiliation with California Closets Portland. I referred clients to California Closets when I lived & worked in southern California, in the OC. California Closets is a solid product with talented designers and good execution. Here's some tips in selecting California Closets or any cabinet maker for a remodel. 1) A designer that you connect with is important. Review designs (and options) on computer generated CAD in 3-D. If it's a challenging (big or small) space, designer can give you various iterations. Don't make up your mind right away. Think about it overnight. 2) Get three quotes. Evaluate: Product quality 1st. Designer & Installation 2nd. Price 3rd. 3) Get at least 3 or more referrals. Do call referrals to see how they liked the work performed. 4) Tour the factory. Get a sense for their organization, process and quality control. 5) Cabinetry may have custom wood doors (but not so much for closets). It's probably more acrylics or laminate's. Examine the doors. ENSURE California Closets PROVIDES SAMPLES WITH YOUR FINISH TO LOOK AT IN YOUR SPACE / CLOSET! How do they look and feel? How do they withstand use? If real wood doors, be sure a catalyzed varnish (not water base) is used to protect finish long term. Drawer boxes should be 100% full extension glides. The box should be dove tailed (best construction) in Maple or Birch. Melanie is ok (functional not as elegant) if you need to save money, but know the difference. All soft close doors and drawers is no extra cost. 6) Check all companies with the Better Business Bureau. Do they have any discrepancies or complaints from any work performed? 7) Know who the installer is? Do they work for California Closets? Independent? Experience level? Key to any cabinet project is the installation! PERIOD! I've been to California closets show room 3 times snooping around--nice, friendly, no pressure. If you have any questions, it's OK to reach me through my YELP connection. Good luck (Learning Under Controlled Knowledge)--means doing your due diligence!

I hired Cari for a second time because she was so hardworking and thorough 2 years ago when she organized my guest bedroom and storage area. She absolutely crushed it again, going above and beyond to get my stuff sorted by discard, donate or keep lists. She expertly disassembled bed frames, carefully packed up my fragile items (LOTS of them), and purchased boxes and other moving supplies before she began. Cari donated my chosen items to charity and discarded my rejects, and never appeared judgmental when I absolutely couldn't part with my mom's ancient Guardian Ware roasting pan set, despite my admission that I've never actually used it! She is experienced and understands how hard it is to part with some things, but also will respectfully help you decide if you ask her to. So my not being there wasn't a huge issue in the end, and I felt so relieved hiring Cari to take this on when I couldn't. Her prices are reasonable and she is worth every penny. She also happens to be a great human being, is super friendly, funny and smart! I'm hoping to hire her partner in Boulder to help me organize my new place after my things arrive. What a great coincidence for me that Cari expanded her business to Boulder with her business partner before I ever knew I'd be moving here! Thank you so much, Cari!

Sarah's background as an Occupational Therapist means that between hospitals and homes she seen and dealt, with it all. Her approach is very hands on: she arrives ready to go, masked and gloved up, with a rolling bag filled with basic supplies to tackle your mess. Our particular mess was our 1,000 sqft basement that had become a dumping ground for all of the things. It was a disaster (putting it mildly). This was a BIG project. Over the past 2+ months Sarah has been a hands on guide, turning our dumpster fire of crap into a methodically organized, knowable, functional space. She helps as much as needed in making decisions on what stays and goes, provides storage options (she will shop solutions if you like!), and hauls all the extra away to the dump, recycling, or donation centers. Having gone through this process I can say that we could not have done it without Sarah. I eagerly look forward to our sessions. She is delightful to work with, completely non-judgmental, and beyond EFFECTIVE. Our whole family adores her, and the results she brings. So much so, that we signed up for the monthly subscription service that is offered and will continue working with her for the foreseeable future to organize our lives :)
