RAT INFESTED: say goodbye to your belongings that you paid too much to store in the first place…read more Nota bene: The high ratings for this place were for a time when the storage units were under previous ownership, and the previous, awesome owners have been replaced by the rentier bourgeois of the worst kind. This used to be the best storage unit in Reno--it was the most affordable, the staff was very friendly, and it was convenient to pay online. Unfortunately, it was sold about a year ago to new owners based out of Roseville. They jacked up the prices by 25%, they ask you to pay by check (as if it's 1995), and only recently did they make payment by Paypal available (for a $3/month fee!). The units are infested with rodents, to which the new owners respond by telling tenants to set mouse traps. There is no lighting provided in the units, either. Oh, and there isn't a dumpster anywhere in sight. Just to be clear, these new owners raised the rates to a ridiculously high amount, they instituted a fee to pay online (the previous owners did not charge you for paying via Paypal), the units are rodent infested (but the elevated rates don't help this matter in the least), there is no lighting in the units, and there's nowhere to put your trash. All the new owners care about is collecting your money, full stop. DO NOT RENT HERE. They might argue that they've used the increased rents to pay for a keypad gate system (instead of paying an actual employee to work there). Granted, this is a step up from the goon they had walking around harassing tenants to verify that they were up to date on payments. Extremely intrusive. Bottom line: this place is the *worst*, the owners are greedy, exploitative, and your belongings will be ruined by rodents.

Matt came to Thousand Trails Harbor View in Colonial Beach, VA, to service my Tiffin Allegro Bay. One of the hydraulic leveling jacks was completely frozen in the fully extended position and had pushed down into the gravel and soil beneath the RV. What initially appeared to be a relatively simple job--relieve the hydraulic pressure, push the jack back up, and replace the springs--turned into a major undertaking. The jack absolutely refused to retract. Ultimately, Matt determined that the entire hydraulic jack had to be removed. The problem was that because it was fully extended, there wasn't enough clearance underneath the RV to get it out. Matt's solution? He literally excavated it. In approximately 94-degree heat, Matt dug around and underneath that jack until he had created a hole nearly two feet deep and approximately three feet wide. That gave him enough clearance to remove the fully extended hydraulic jack assembly from beneath the motorhome. That is where Matt earned my respect. Plenty of people can replace a part when everything goes according to plan. The true measure of a technician is what happens when absolutely nothing goes according to plan. Matt never became impatient, never acted frustrated with the situation, and never looked for an excuse to abandon the job. Every time the repair presented another obstacle, he stopped, evaluated the situation, figured out another approach, and kept going. His problem-solving ability is exceptional. Just as impressive was his customer service. Matt was polite, professional, personable, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful throughout the entire experience. He clearly explained what was happening and why certain steps were necessary. He also took time to answer questions about several other areas of my RV and gave me some genuinely valuable advice about maintaining and caring for my Tiffin. There was never any pressure or attempt to turn every observation into another service charge. It felt like advice coming from someone who genuinely wanted to help another RV owner. That kind of service is increasingly difficult to find. Owning an older Class A motorhome means occasionally encountering problems that don't have simple textbook solutions. For that reason, I don't just want someone who knows how to replace RV parts. I want someone who understands mechanical systems well enough to think through an unusual problem when the obvious solution doesn't work. After watching Matt tackle this hydraulic jack, I have tremendous confidence in his abilities. This service call demonstrated technical knowledge, determination, ingenuity, patience, professionalism, integrity, and an incredible work ethic. Matt came expecting to deal with a leveling jack and ended up practically performing an archaeological excavation underneath my Tiffin in 94-degree Virginia heat! Run far, far away! I…read morerented a KTM 890 from Nevada Adventure Rentals for a three day trip with some friends. We were clear that we weren't just cruising highways and would be doing some off-road riding. That was fine with them, these are adventure bikes after all. Well we ran into unexpected heavy rain, took a couple falls, and the bikes suffered some minor damage which we were bummed about but were willing to repair (broken mirror, clutch lever, dented hard panniers). I returned the bike, and they sent it to the shop to be fixed up. Two weeks later I was called and told they had just "discovered" something else wrong with the sub frame. Okay I thought, I didn't notice anything myself, but it's not a hard part to replace, how bad could it be? For the next two months, Barry, the apparently now behind-the-scenes owner let the bike sit in the shop with no follow up to me. I called and emailed a number times and it was clear they were in no hurry to get it back. They never knew the status of the bike and said they'd go check. The next thing I heard was a letter from the owner threatening to charge me nearly $16,000, including $12,000 for "loss of use" for every single day the bike was in the shop. That's right, he threatened to charge nearly double the value of the entire bike. When I responded that I was happy to pay for reasonable loss of use but that this seemed excessive, he didn't even respond himself, but had his lawyer send a demand letter explaining that under Nevada law "loss of use" does not have to be based on "notions of fairness, actual rental demand, or the resale value of the motorcycle" and that they could charge me based on whatever language they'd buried in the mountain of papers I'd signed at rental. They could literally let the bike sit in the shop for a year and charge me for 365 days "loss of use" with no recourse. Their paperwork also includes language claiming you will be responsible for legal fees regardless of the outcome of any litigation. It all seems incredibly well calculated to extort as much money as possible out of hapless renters. After this incident I went through their reviews and it's not hard to find other people with similar stories. It's clear this is a shady business built around shaking down the occasional customer to try to cash in on depreciated bikes. It's unfortunate that it's one of the only shops in Reno. Hope someone else opens an outfitter that isn't out to target and scam customers.
