I had a completely different experience from the last yelper. I visited this place since it was near my area back in November and they carried a variety of ray ban frames. I actually got this optometrist from the ray ban website. I called to ask if they had a certain frame style and they said they didn't, but if I was positive I wanted that style, they could order it for me. Now, I am a procrastinator, I was scheduled to leave December 1 and I called just a few weeks before leaving the states, around mid November. It was crucial for me to use my insurance pronto and get my eye exam done before the end of the year or before I left (since I didn't return to the states until February) or I would forfeit my benefits. Dr. Wu was very accommodating with a fierce personality. But, I must say, our interaction went very well. The receptionist was friendly and also gentle while doing the "air test" to the eye balls. (I hate that!) Here is why Dr. Wu was accommodating: They didn't have the frames I wanted. She called Ray Ban to see if they can get it in before I leave. They couldn't. She asked me to choose another pair of frames that I liked and I picked another set of Ray Ban's. She then told me, that when I come back and I didn't like the second choice, I can return it and get the first choice, no hassle, no extra charge. A complete exchange. It turned out that the first choice that I really adored, didn't adore me back. It didn't look right on me. So, I kept the second choice and there were no obligations even though they had ordered the first ones specifically for me. I also ordered contacts from here, and since I moved far away from Elk Grove when I came back in February, they were kind enough to ship it to me with no extra charge... and it came within a week. Who knew there were such huge price discrepancies for cash patients among different optometrists? This place is an excellent value if you do not have insurance coverage, even beating out Walmart, which is in the same shopping complex! The doctor here is a "fierce personality," as the previous reviewer wrote, but she will bend over backwards to help her customers. Every time I've been in, I see her interacting with patients in a way that no other doctor does. She takes the time to get to know you and engages in real conversations. She also does not pressure you at all to buy glasses or contact lenses from her, which I appreciate. No one like a pushy salesperson! My recommendation is if you need an eye exam, make an appointment. It can get quite busy with walk ins, and this seems to be a two person operation--the doctor and her receptionist. Dr. Wu is incredible! Our family has been seeing her for many years and we absolutely love her and her staff. During a routine eye examine, Dr. Wu realized that my daughter's retina had detached and told me to take her to the hospital immediately. Upon arriving, the ophthalmologist stated that it is rare that detached retinas are found during routine eye exams. He said Dr. Wu had to be an exceptional doctor. I went to this store because it was rated 5 stars. As soon as I walked in, I noticed 80% of this store had eye glasses for WOMEN and a small little section for MEN. I joked to the Asian lady that she needed to expand her MEN selection and she rudely interrupted me back, "What is there is all we got OK! Typical men!!!" I was shocked, so I said, "Whoa, lady are you sexist? You need to relax! All I was saying was there's barely any eyeglasses here for men. It'll help your business if you simply expanded. Not my review. my husbands review. I called prior to my appointment to make sure they took my insurance, vsp. The lady on the phone ensured me they did so I set up an appointment with them. The doctor seemed nice at first but when it came time to pay she became rude and treated me like I was lower than dirt. The receptionist gave me my total of $89 and I reminded her that I have insurance. When the doctor heard this she became enraged. I have no idea why but she seemed to be upset that I was not paying with cash. The doctor angrily told the receptionist that if I was using insurance then I would have to purchase a box of contacts! They refused to give me my prescription unless I purchased a box from them. So because I didn't want to deal with having to get another exam, I paid $40 out of pocket for 3 pairs of contacts plus my insurance which covered $100. That means the box of 3 pairs cost $51! What a rip off and a load of crap! Do not go here if you want to be treated like shit!!!! However, the receptionist was really nice and apologized for the rude doctor. read more

Dr. Wu is so amazing. She was helpful throughout the whole appointment and even helped me pick glasses that will sit the most comfortably on my nose. Went over to check out some frames , was greeted and helped out by young Latina lady very friendly. Didn't know which glasses to choose so was there for quite some time . As i was looking around I could hear the doctor treating her employee really bad. I know she's the head in charge but I decided to walk out because she was really rude to her when she was doing her work perfectly fine . Do not go buy items from here. The short asian doctor is way too rude to even have customers shop there for her benefit..she lost a customer and hopefully she reads this comment so she can work on treating her employees right . read more

I had heard about the doc being rather, let's say, "fierce", but I liked it! She was honest and funny and did not try to upsell me AT ALL. The office staff was fabulous and when I put on a pair of frames that I thought looked good, they both said "Uh, no...." They were right. It was a full exam and I left feeling more comfortable than I ever have after a visit to a physician of any kind. I am in SHOCK! I read reviews on Yelp about Nuvision in EG so I booked appt with them. I went in a few min early to look at sunglasses. I walked in the doctor and receptionist never greated me. I said I was there for 11am appt and I was just looking for sunglasses and hopefully somebody that could help me pick the sunglass shape and frame that would be best for my face and immediately they told me that they weren't there to do that and that it's my opinion not theirs and they started laughing and talking in a different language that really really upset me. Then another customer came in and the doctor was talking to the customer about me and then they started laughing so I just walked out I have never felt so uncomfortable at a professional establishment in my life and to call them a professional establishment is a far stretch so I am giving them one star and I am very disappointed. While I was looking at Sunglasses there were a couple I liked until I looked at price tag and it said almost $500. I said wow those are spendy the doctor said, "Yes don't look at them if you can't afford them." I'm still in shock with mouth wide open. read more

Dr. Wu is so unprofessional. When I went in for an exam I paid for my copays and she was showing me different type of contacts. So the second I tried felt really nice. Dr. Wu stated it was expensive and I asked her how much. She told me and today I spoke with her and she is stating that is much cheaper from the amount she told me previously and then she also stated I still owe a copay when I already did pay for it. Then she goes I don't know what I did but that's how much you owe. I also wanted glasses and she didn't even help me find glasses but she was helping a person that came in after me. Her front desk receptionist wasn't even helpful also. The whole time I was there I was just waiting. So I just ended up canceling my order. She gave me 4 pairs of dailies contact to try and she told me I could reuse it and make it stretch for a longer use. Which you're suppose to dispose at the end of the day when you're done using dailies contacts. Not ever I have heard a Doctor advise a patient anything ever like that! What a pain. First pair, everything went kinda ok. I like the frames I chose but the Optometrist did not...oh well. A year later went in to have my 1960's new/old stock Wayfarers re-lensed. I dropped them off and all she did was complain and afraid (where she sends them) would break them and that I should buy new frames. But I didn't want new frames. After almost an hour of hassling about it, she finally drew a line on the old lens where the bi-focal should be. I stated "too low" and showed her my other day glass's. After 6 long weeks, they came back too low. Again almost an hour of hassling me to buy new frames. I said "NO...I WANT WHAT I'M ASKING YOU TO GIVE ME". Another 3 weeks go by. I go in and there are my old glass's without any lens in them and new Wayfarers with new lens in them with the bifocals in the correct frame. I asked what happened...She had decided on her own that is what I really wanted. Then I had to hassle with her a third time to put the original lens back in my original Wayfarers and that took 1/2 a week. And all this time they never broke like she had originally stated. Have we come to a point these days where people advertise a business but won't give you what you ask for? I mean if you don't want to do what a customer asks you to...simply state that you are not interested and the consumer can go to a competent Optometrist. I'll never go back and will even go out of my way to tell people the story. read more

This is a long overdue review. I've been coming to Dr. Wu for years after an incident where I abused my contact wear and damaged my eyes. Prior to coming to her office, I went to a few doctors for months... tried different medications...Sadly nothing worked. I came to see Dr. Wu and she went above and beyond to take care of my eyes. She researched and found a solution for me and within days my eyes were back to normal. In the process she kept in touch via text messages to check up on me. She has a wide selection of frames at all price levels and her service is the best. I highly recommend visiting her office. I have friends who travel from the bay to see her. She's down to earth, nice, funny, caring and will always go out of her way for her patients. I don't give many reviews but since I turn to yelp for research at times, I had to make sure I share my experience. She's one of the best Doctor! I was recommended to Dr. Wu by a coworker. I live I Rancho Cordova. A pretty far drive. Any who the ladies in the office helped me pick out a pair of glasses. I was fitted for contacts as well. She gave me a trial pair, which I ended up having an issue with. Dr. Wu changed them told me to wear them for a week then she would place my order. I got the call my contacts were in but I had emergency surgery a few days prior. I completely forgot about my contacts. I called today and she offered to mail them to me!! My husband went there cuz it was one of the ones on insurance list. Him and step daughter went no problems. Told how nice everyone was and no pressure. I made an appointment, for the last 10 years until 3 years ago nobody has got my prescription right. I was hesitant cuz I really like my eye doctor, got my prescription right on first visit. So I went with my daughter I wasn't due for frames yet, she went out of her way to give me frames that were donated.i had asked her if the prescription was the same as the on I had printed she said it was close. That prescription was from my contacts and I see crystal clear. She did my daughters exam said she really didn't need glasses possible only for distance. I go to pick up glasses I tried them for a while no luck, night driving worse than before. My daughter can't see projector in class and she sits in 2nd row. Went back in told her the problem with mine, and asked if she could just order the prescription that I had from last doctor she agreed. My daughter told her what her problem was. Dr. Wu insisted that she's too use to her old glasses, but her old ones were stronger and don't give her headaches and can see fine. So now got to tell her she needs to order the same prescription as old ones. I like the staff and the doctor personally and no they don't push you for money. However seems like of all the eye doctors I have been to only one gets it right every time read more
