Nutzy Mutz & Crazy Catz is one of my favorite pet stores. When you walk in, the store has tall ceilings, fun colored walls, and the merchandise is organized and spaced well. It makes it easy to find the different animal sections. They carry excellent brands including my favorite pet brand, Fromm. They have a great selection, enough to choose from but not too many where it becomes overwhelming. Note the parking lot can get busy so there is also street parking available on Midvale Blvd. The staff is extremely kind and helpful. I brought my dog in a few months ago and was looking to change up her food. They offered me many samples and explained their return policy. If you open a large bag of food and your dog doesn't like it, you can return it. So don't be scared to try new food for your pets, they will take back open bags. They also have canned food, fresh dried food, and frozen food options for both cats and dogs. One of my favorite items in the store are these cute cat beds that look like a big mitten. They are locally made in the Madison area. My dog's favorite section is the bones. I discovered these cool bones that are considered cheese chews. It takes awhile for my dog to chew through this bone but once she does you can put the last bit of the bone in the microwave and it turns into a treat. I love discovering these new items when I visit Nutzy Mutz. And of course I love being greeted by their friendly store cat! read more

NMCC is one of my favorite local dog stores. The owner, Liz, really cares and only sells high-quality products. All of the employees are friendly, pet-loving community members. I feel good about shopping here and supporting this store. We got a super cute knit sweater on sale for $20 today! I really appreciated the deal and it encouraged me to add some more to my cart. My dog is happy coming into the store too - she's a sensitive Shiba Inu, so that's not always the case. We're both relaxed inside the store and enjoy our shopping experience. It feels very safe, Covid-wise, as well. I'll definitely continue to shop here! read more

I had no idea about this second location! I've been going to the one on Lakeside for the past few months. I'm new to the area, so I'm glad to have this speciality pet store around! This location is much closer to where I live, so I'll be frequenting this one in the future. I'm a huge fan of Fromm's dog food. I like being able to cycle through all the different flavors so my dogs get variety. This location carries all of the Four Star line food. They also have more treats here, but I think the other location has more bully sticks and treats such as those. They pick very natural treats to sell, which I love. It seems like they have a lot of cat things too, including toys. read more

I've been disappointed the last two times I've been in the store. The way I was greeted was very unwelcoming. she was talking to a family and turned to me and said something to the effect of don't knock over her display. No greeting nothing. What a great pet supply store. Everyone that works there is very helpful and very critter oriented. There's generally a store cat or two hanging around. And if Angelique is working she'd shire to have a canine helper in the store. Not to mention Angelique is fantastic, a true critter whisperer. If your trying a new product and your critter doesn't like it, you are welcome to bring back said product. Big bonus this place is sandwiched between two other Madison favorites... EVP Coffee and the Chocolate Shop Ice Cream parlor. read more

Great customer service! I called to see if they had a product and they ordered it for me and decided to carry it in the store! They lady who helped me was so friendly. I will defeintely be shopping here in the future. They carry a lot of the higher end dog foods and they're close to the prices at Mounds and Mad Cat. Both my dog Rose and I love this place. We generally go to the Midvale location. It is a small store, so they don't have as extensive a selection as a larger store would. But everything they carry is top notch. Rose really likes her Zignature food; but what she especially can't get enough of is the lung! This store always has great customer service. This place is WONDERFUL! This seemingly small store is chocked-full of toys and healthy pet foods for the more selective pet owners. The staff is AMAZING, friendly and incredibly knowledgeable -- ask for Angelique -- she is spectacularly helpful (including shipping pet supplies across the country to me when I was working outside of WI for several months). One of the best things about this store is that it's only stocked with healthy, well-tested, or environmentally friendly items, so they save you time that you would otherwise have to sort through junk that is also included in the larger "box stores". Because it carries high quality items, it's not the cheapest option, but you're getting the best quality items -- and I compared their prices with items on Amazon and they're extremely close to the internet prices. I'd rather support a local store (and save the gas used to ship online) when Nutzy Mutz is in town. Plus, this location is 2 storefronts down from the beautiful Library and Chocolate Shop Ice Cream. I went into Nutzy Mutz off of Midvale today as I moved close by and thought how perfect it was of a location. I also just adopted a cat and had done my research on the type of food that Nutzy Mutz had and knew that it was high quality. Great! The humane society was feeding them food with grain in it and I wanted to go grain free but not knowing what they would like and not wanting to buy something at a higher cost and have them not like it I decided I would start with something at Nutzy Mutz that was lower cost. I walked in there and was asked if she could help me with something. I then explained what I was looking for. She looked at me carefully and replied, "You do know that we ONLY carry high quality food?" The tone of it was so rude and snooty, I absolutely could not believe it! Did she just judge a paying customer like that walking in asking for help? Yes she did. I have never been talked to and judged at like that in any store much less a pet store. There are other pet stores around here that also provide HIGH QUALITY PET FOOD and you can trust that I'll be going there and never back to Nutzy Mutz again. On top of that, I will be telling every pet owner I know how I was talked to and treated at this store. read more

I bought some cat food from here about a while ago. I ordered through the phone because I live downtown and don't have a car. The person on the phone was very friendly and helpful and was able to deliver the order that very night! I think there was supposed to be a delivery fee but they didn't charge me for that. They even included free samples! Great experience. Would definitely buy from this store again. read more

Nutzy Mutz and Crazy Catz is such a fun place and great knowledgable staff always, they really helped me with my fussy Benjamin's tummy, they gave me lot's of free trials until we found what worked for him. The staff here is very friendly and knowledgeable. My dog is always really excited to visit, they bring her numerous treats and you can tell they really care about dogs. The owner has bully breed dogs, so she always has information on what toys will actually last around my pit bull. I love that they have a variety of natural dog foods and treats. Plus, their prices are very reasonable. I would highly recommend this place to any dog owner that wants high quality dog items at a reasonable price. read more
