At a year and a half he was a handful to work with on my own. Despite having significant experience with dog training, I learned just as much as my dog did during his time at Smart Dog Training School. They are extraordinarily dedicated not just to training your dog, but to their health and happiness. Steve's dedication to each and every dog and owner is blatant. I went from an uncontrollable dog to an attentive obedient one, and after boarding training was complete Steve came and helped me establish ground rules at my home to get me and my dog off on the right foot as we transitioned him to training with me. I felt like I was set up for success, and he answered every question I had and encouraged me along the way. I cannot recommend this place enough. They won't just train your dog, but they train you! And I learned even more about dog psychology and my specific dog's psychology and how to handle him so that we can continue to bond through training and beyond.

I have been taking him to Socal herding every Sunday for the past 6 weeks and I have noticed tremendous change in his behavior both there and at home. He is calmer, happier and more well-behaved. Ted and Chandra, who run SoCal Herding are incredible at what they do, mostly because they genuinely care about what they are doing and care about your pup having the most successful experience. I started my dog Bubba in the 5 Step Program because he could not walk on a leash to save my life. He was constantly pulling and would get so excited and distracted. Candice has taught not only Bubba, but me, so much. She has taught me patience, how to better understand a dog's mind, and how to properly communicate with him during training. I was also super skeptical about using an e collar, but Candice took the time to make sure I was comfortable and confident with how to properly use it with Bubba.
