We came from Clemson to attend a play in Pelzer and decided to have lunch here first. It is not a destination restaurant. The menu is very chicken heavy. Started with 8 smoked wings as an appetizer, bbq sauced with a side of hot sauce. Received 4 bbq wings and 4 hot wings. Now the wings were smoked nice and very good. Both ordered half-and-half tea. I received unsweetened. They had meatloaf as a Sunday special. I got it, mashed potatoes and gravy, cornbread, and a side salad. The side salad was really nice and worth ordering. The cornbread was jalapeño cornbread, but not described that way on the menu. The mashed potatoes and gravy should not be ordered. Period. They were both reconstituted, fake and a tiny portion. The meatloaf was a good size portion, but tasted like a seasoned hamburger. Thankfully the bbq sauce on the table saved it. Her chicken salad sandwich was good and a nice size portion, but again it was different than described on the menu. She said it tasted like smoked chicken. The banana pudding was very unremarkable but looked nice. We might give it another try if we're in the area and hungry, but it's not in the "let's remember this place" list.

I went in the Farmer's Market first. It looks like an old barn. There were lots and lots of homemade choices- "canned" soup bases, fruits, vegetables, salsas, jams, flavored oils to name a few. There were also fresh fruits, nuts, honey, vegetables, dairy products and cakes. There are four areas you can eat. The main "restaurant" is small with only a few tables. Evidently it's a favorite of older local gentlemen to gather for an early breakfast. There is also the "Pig Sty," "The Chicken Coop" and the farmer's market area. Some of these can be cold in the winter and warm in the summer so dress accordingly. The farmer's market area is heated by a wood stove. The staff here are so friendly. It felt like we were visiting family. The food was good ole country food. The hubby and I each ordered the breakfast plate. I had coffee with my choice of several flavored creamers. If you pay in cash you get a discount. If you are in the area you should check it out. You can order from the breakfast or lunch menu. Our server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable--she offered helpful suggestions from the varied menu. We'd heard good things about the burgers and decided to try them, ordering ours cooked medium. The server mentioned that unless specified, burgers are typically served medium well. The wait for our food was a bit long, and it seemed other tables were experiencing the same. Bohemian seems like a better spot to visit when you're not in a rush. When the burgers arrived, both were cooked well done instead of medium. Unfortunately, our server didn't check back until we were nearly finished eating. I showed her the overcooked burger, and she offered to have another one made, but by then we'd already eaten. The flavor was good, but it definitely would've been better at the requested temperature. Lesson learned--check your burger doneness before your server leaves the table, especially when they're priced around $16-$18 and more. On the bright side, the fries were excellent! Overall, despite the hiccup, I'll be back. Bohemian is worth giving another try.
