We had the most amazing experience being pregnant and birthing with Simona and her team. If I could…read moregive more than 5 stars, I would! Never once did I question my choice to go the midwife/home birth route vs the traditional/OBGYN/hospital route. Throughout my pregnancy, I saw Simona for my prenatal visits (ultrasounds were outsourced to Cedars and all the other typical testing was ordered just like an OB would). She provided all the information and medical care that I needed to have a safe and healthy pregnancy, as well as the reassurance I needed emotionally when questions or concerns popped up. Her depth of experience showed. That, combined with her motherly-style loving care made all the difference to me in feeling taken care of and in the right hands for this important journey. The resources she provided me along the way, including doulas/pediatricians, information about pain-free labor, and planning for complications just in case etc, were super helpful in having a smooth and enjoyable birth. Yes, enjoyable! Partly due to Simona's care, and partly due to my own preparations, I felt confident in my ability as a mama to have a natural and stress-free birth experience, which is exactly what happened. We chose to have a home birth and a water birth for labor and delivery. Our doula (who Simona recommended) was there for the majority of the labor and she was awesome in helping me through contractions. I highly recommend a doula for everyone. The midwife comes when contractions are at around 4-1-1, which meant that in my case Simona came over what turned out to be three hours before the birth. Once Simona arrived with her team (an assistant plus two nurse midwife students) and even though I was in the "zone" of labor, I was aware enough to know I didn't have to worry about anything and I could focus on laboring. Simona offered positioning suggestions for my body to ease my labor and it felt like a blink of an eye before I was told to come into the birthing tub. (In reality it was three hours!) Once our baby was born (I highly recommend a water birth, it felt wonderful) everything continued to flow smoothly and Simona and her team stuck around for a few hours to care for our newborn, help me birth my placenta, and check on the baby to make sure she was healthy and doing well, etc. etc. The team even made me snacks and helped me stay hydrated and did our dishes! I felt so doted on and cared for, and it made the entire experience that much more enjoyable. We've continued to see Simona for a few post-partum visits and her level of care has never wavered. I highly recommend Simona to anyone who wants to have a natural birth and be the beneficiary of the art of motherly midwifery care that our modern society has sadly left behind (but is thankfully finding again!) She will forever be in our hearts and we are eternally grateful to her for helping bring our daughter into the world safely, smoothly, and pain-free - a great start to life! It was a very memorable and wonderful birth experience.

I can not think of anything more crazy than this. To me it is like jumping out of a plane without a parachute. But if the baby is healthy and mom is enough weeks along NOTHING in this world makes more sense than having your baby at your home. America has made it very apparent that you should be in a hospital and to not deliver there makes you stupid or naive. I can never thank Simona enough for making it all possible. I was able to help deliver my baby with my wife into this world. This is something so few people will ever be able to experience. I am forever grateful for Simona's experience and calm caring demeanor.

My husband and I took several classes at Village Birth leading up the birth of our baby, and I found my amazing lactation consultant, Hideko, after taking a very informative breastfeeding class with Yvonne. Hideko was an invaluable resource to me after the baby was born and continued to be for many months afterward. There was no way I would be able to breastfeed as long as I have if it weren't for her. Separately, I worked with prenatal chiropractor Dr. Jenny Stofer as well, who is also part of the Village Birth group now. I had experienced quite a bit of discomfort in my back during my pregnancy and she always made me feel at ease, listened to my concerns, and took care of any issues I had quickly and gently. I always left my sessions with her feeling energized, supported and like my baby had more room in there! It was incredible. Village Birth is made up of such a thoughtful, supportive and kind group of individuals who are talented and passionate about their work. If you're nearby and having a baby, it is the best place for top notch care and information!

If…read moreyou're in Long Beach and interested in a natural birth experience or simply want to feel informed and prepared for labor and childbirth, I highly recommend her. She empowers her clients with information and helps them feel confident making the best decisions for themselves. Her kindness and support extended beyond class hours. When I went into labor, she promptly responded to texts from my husband, answered his questions, and offered guidance and reassurance. She helped him better understand how to support me during labor, and that made all the difference in our experience. Birth is beautiful, wild, and unpredictable. Lia helped us feel confident in our birth plan while preparing us to navigate the process as it unfolded. We're so grateful for her knowledge, warmth, and support. Highly recommend!

Being in class with other expectant couples created such a supportive environment, and the course was incredibly comprehensive. It gave me the knowledge and confidence to navigate a hospital birth and make informed decisions about the many interventions that are commonly offered. At 38 weeks, my water broke unexpectedly while I was riding a stationary bike. I immediately reached out to Lia for guidance. Since I wasn't experiencing a fever or any signs of infection, she explained that I had options: I could either go to the hospital right away or stay home and wait for labor to begin naturally. She also educated me about the fact that the body continues producing amniotic fluid and that, in some cases, a small rupture in the membranes may even reseal. Knowing that going to the hospital before labor started would likely lead to an induction (which wasn't aligned with my goal of having an unmedicated birth) I chose to stay home and monitor myself. The night before my 39-week OB appointment, I was feeling anxious. I knew that if my provider confirmed my water had broken before labor had started, induction would almost certainly be recommended. I reached out to Lia again, and she suggested trying the Miles Circuit. I followed the stretches that evening, and to my surprise, I went into early labor around 1:00 a.m. Whether it was the Miles Circuit, my body simply being ready, or a combination of both, it gave me the confidence to keep trusting the process. In January 2024, I welcomed a healthy baby girl through the unmedicated birth I had hoped for. While my hospital experience was unfortunately traumatic, the education Lia provided made all the difference. There were many moments when my husband, my doula, and I had to advocate for my birth preferences, and it wasn't always met with respect. Without the knowledge and confidence I gained from Lia's class, I truly believe my birth could have unfolded very differently. I'm now pregnant with my second baby, and one of the first things I did was sign up to retake Lia's class. One of the biggest perks is that once you've taken her course, you can retake it as many times as you'd like for free. Childbirth education isn't something you only benefit from once, and I love having the opportunity to refresh everything I've learned before welcoming another baby. I'm incredibly grateful for everything Lia taught us. Her class empowered me to make informed decisions, advocate for myself, and approach birth with confidence. I wholeheartedly recommend her course to any expecting parents, especially those hoping for an evidence-based, physiologic birth. Even if you have to drive a little farther to attend like I did, it's worth every mile.

I felt perfectly comfortable candidly expressing my hopes and fears around labor and delivery and I was met with empathy, wisdom, medical expertise, guidance and reassurance every step of the way. If I ever had a question or concern I was welcome to text Davi directly without having to go through bureaucracy and would always get a quick answer, which I so appreciated. Davi delivered my first child, which was hard work, but when things got hairy with the intensity of labor, I was always confident I was in good hands and safe. I'll never forget when I was pushing Davi saying, "Sarah-Violet you're screaming out of your mouth and you need to be screaming out of your vagina." That simple redirection helped me push my baby out after a bit of a struggle. Michelle delivered my second. My mental approach the second time around helped me have an incredibly easy birth and because of that we almost didn't call Michelle in time but she arrived right at the crucial moment. When I brought it up to the cashier, he said it was because they have it in store their inventory but not at the store? Huh?? After doing more digging I saw there was a "Terms and conditions" asterisk in fine print you have to click on to find out this information. All I saw was the green check mark that says "In stock and ready for pick up in 4 hours." Any other place I have ever been to- this would mean it would be in stock at the store. When I brought up, calmly, that this was confusing and they should fix it because I drove two hours to get to the store. The cashier said nothing. Not a "Aw geez, I'm sorry. I can understand your frustration and why that's confusing." I'm a reasonable person. I've worked in customer service all my life. The demeanor of the cashier alone has put me off from ever visiting this store again or recommending it. We went to Uppababy a few blocks down and they were SOOO kind that it completely made my day. All I needed was some kindness. To the owners of the Pump Station- the people using your website are most likely VERY tired moms. I personally am getting 3-4 hours of sleep a day. Tired moms need clear signage if something is in stock or not. Time is precious in this season of life. We also need KINDNESS. My body is broken and recovering from giving birth. I am exhausted! I would expect a place who sells baby items to understand this. Overall, would never recommend this place and will tell everyone I know that it was an awful experience.
