Their tea is legit, but I have to knock a couple stars off, because I ordered $100 worth of tea that was sent to me in "tins" that are neither air tight nor light tight. Not only are the lids clear, but the tins actually do not close all the way! And they weren't even half way full, so it's not that they weren't closing, because they were overfilled. And then I had to purchase tins elsewhere and pay rush shipping to make sure I could get my tea into proper storage ASAP. I was told on April 18th that I would receive a phone call from them about this. It is now May 8th and I still have not heard from them, even after reaching out a second time. That's a lot of money to spend to have the tea delivered in a container that's not even sealed, and then to not be followed up with. I wish I had taken photos of the containers to post here, before I threw them in the trash. read more

This place is such a gem! I stopped in the other day to grab some tea for a Mother's Day gift. I don't drink it much or know much about tea. The owner was able to guide me through the process, explaining the different types of tea and he even made me a generous sample. I'm now hooked and bought some for myself! You can tell he has a passion for what he does here. I'll be returning and there are some good perks if you bring back your tins to be refilled. Like many people I walked in to Nuovo on my way to Trader Joe's. It's nice to have a tea shop in the area. Many nice cups, teas, and accessories for sale. FYI, I am not related to or friends of anyone in this shop. First of all, the cookies in the display case were stale and hard as rocks! I nearly could not bite into them. They weren't expensive like a cup of tea. Three cookies for $1.50 plus tax. But why serve stale, old cookies to your customers? I paid for them too. Don't make us pay for them if old! Next, a cup of tea was over $4. So with tax it's pushing $5 for a cup of tea. I decided it's really easy to make a cup of tea at home to dunk the stale cookies in! So between the stale treats, and the cup of tea price, I can't give them 5stars. read more

I've been walking past this place for a long while now. Finally, tonight, as I was going to Trader Joe's next door, something pulled me in here. I had just been briefly thinking about matcha and making it at home so I had many questions. The owner was more than happy and hospitable to teach me everything I needed to know about making matcha and matcha lattes at home. He gave me a full demonstration from start to finish and even an in depth explanation on the benefits of matcha, where it comes from, and the difference between the different matchas we see on the market. He even let me drink the demonstrated tea as a sample which I thought was incredibly nice. I bought 2oz of matcha powder and the whole kit to make it at home. The proper bowl, bamboo whisk, and measuring spoon - he even gave me suggestions on which milk is best and NEVER use a dairy milk! As he was packaging everything for me, he asked me about my favorite teas in general and had me try some of his varieties of chai. I told him which one I liked best and he even gave me a generous sample of that one too. All in all, this is a genuine place of business that cares about not only their product, but their customer. Two weeks ago I was going to Trader Joe's which is next door and saw there was a new store that opened up. I'm so glad I came into Tea Canal. Right when you walk in it's so inviting and calming. With light music in the background and tasteful decor of pictures of different teas and a full screen tv showing how matcha tea is made and served. As I walked in my eyes couldn't help but go from left to right with all the tea samples to the merchandise of iron tea kettles to matcha sets. I was warmly greeted by Malek tealogist and he asked if there's a particular tea I was looking for or would like to try some. They had over 7-8 teas to sample. And what I loved about it there was a description on the tea and it's health benefits. Im not going to lie I tried all of them. I know you will when you visit them. With that saying you know I'm already in love with this place. Not because of all the samples but it was educational. Malek has 9 years of knowledge in tea. His grandfather was a Dr and herbalist which got him to have the interest and passion for what he does now. His staff is also knowledgeable with the guidance of Malek Tea Master which made my experience a memorable one. They take pride in what they do. This is not any ordinary tea store. Where they push everything and anything. But they LISTEN and want to make sure you are buying the right tea. No pressure at Tea Canal they want to make sure you are happy with what you are getting and most important where it comes from and the benefits of the tea. As I mentioned they have all types of merchandise which are viewable by the pics I added. They also have sweets from cookies, tarts, brownie and other goodies. I was going to post a pic but it didn't get that far since I ate the whole thing . I hope all of you stop in at Tea Canal and welcome them to Glen Ellyn and try their selection of teas and sweets. FYI they have some sofas for you and friends to enjoy a nice afternoon catching up as you sip on tea. All teas at Tea Canal are in it's natural form. No additives as in color dyes, sprayed with perfumes etc. Side note did you know the teas that are bagged individually are the broken tea leaves. Which gives a more bitter taste. What an amazing place! Not only is the tea exceptional but Malek really sold it to me (not in a pushy way). He's very knowledgeable and the ambience is perfect. I shop at Trader Joe's often and can't believe I missed this place. I got the 3 tea canister which was $35 I believe and is reusable. When you bring it back in you get a discount. Malek was amazing, I truly can't praise him enough. I went in having a crappy day and came out with a whole new attitude. I tried all of the teas that were available to try. Delicious. Used to live not too far from Nuovo Tea but moved to Texas for retirement. I have been ordering tea from them for the past two years and they always do me right. Online ordering is easy, the selection continues to be wonderful, and the order always arrives within 2-4 days in packaging that keeps it all fresh (my most recent order came in 2 days). Orders have always been error free and free samples are always included so I can try something new I wouldn't usually order. There are some nice tea shops where I live now, but Nuovo Tea is still my go to shop for my tea needs. Keep it up! read more

We came in about 45 minutes before closing to get some tea and check out the store. Malek was extremely welcoming and helpful to us. He was very welcoming and didn't push us like other tea places to purchase a couple oz. I've been shopping around for good quality loose leaf tea & this might be it.
