First found this place when looking for Bollywood - ish fabric for a theme cruise. No luck for that specific topic but I found myself around plenty of swimsuit fabric. Eye catching patterns that were ready to be turned into Monday Wear for Carnival. All things stretchy! Fabric is good - the customer service sucks. So while I was there the store was extremely busy. Most people seem to be either regulars browsing or just people popping in for specific items grab to get cut or walk out. I'm only assuming this because no one is even attempting to help. That wouldn't be too bad, but the gossiping about customers as they walk out is just bad business. After hearing negative comments about two different groups of people that walk out, I no longer want to be there and did the same. This comes up later at another store when I was asked if I had checked any other stores in the area. (Side eye, but that was only one time. Nope happened again in July and again January.) I came to Nunez fabrics when I had the opportunity to drive down to Miami to take care of something at the airport. It is not too far from it. It is located in downtown Miami and I had it bookmarked for quite a while. Those who know me know that I make my own clothes so I am always buying and looking for new fabrics to play with. As I came in the store inside it's quite big and they carry a ton of interesting material, but unfortunately for me it is mostly lycra and stretch fabric to make sportswear. Which is something I also buy occasionally but that is not what I was looking for at that time. They do have some beaded fabric that was spectacular but quite expensive at over $150 per yard. I am not at a point where I can risk working with something that expensive, but making something out of it would look amazing. They also have a nice selection of tailoring fabric to make suits and such. The store was very well organized, everything is in its proper place. They have all same kinds fabric together, but it is sensory overload. Mostly everything is in bold colorful prints so your eyes go everywhere all at once. I would have a very difficult time choosing something to buy here because there is just so much to see. Which of course is a good thing. Prices are not bad they range anywhere from $9.99 and up which for sportswear fabric it is not bad at all. If I am ever in the market for that, I will definitely come by read more

We have been shopping in this store for over 14 years to purchase a large amount of unique fabrics for competition dance costumes. The family owned shop had a super friendly staff and they bend over backwards to serve us by staying open after hours and providing us with outstanding prices and service. Their prices are clearly marked and they have a lot of variety and choices. Many of the other stores in the area try to take advantage of non Spanish speaking clients so buyer beware! read more

I popped into this place after visiting Carol Fabrics next door. The only thing they had an extensive collection of was lycra swimsuit material. There was a woman following me through the back room and hovering over me while I was looking at other things in the front. Two employees were talking behind my back in Spanish (essentially saying buy something or get out), and then a friend of mine spoke (in spanish) to the woman that was stalking me in the store. I think the other two employees took the hint, but seriously, pissing off customers isn't the way to get business. Stay away from these people, they're not worth it. read more

I have been to Nunez twice so far. The first time you come into the store, it can be a bit overwhelming. There are several workers who, in turn, do stop a few feet away from you and just stand there. But I noticed that they are not standing, watching to see if you are stealing, they are really there to help you. I don't think the employees know the proper customer service etiquette that most younger employees are taught. Generally when you enter a store a sales associate will ask if you needed help with anything, if you said no, they will say "let me know if you do." This is what Nunez employees are really saying without actually saying it. I figured this out because once I asked the staff for Fabric, they became really welcoming and open to talk. Nunez the store owner even gave me a free calendar, even though I did not need one, it was still a nice gesture. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. Refused to speak English and told me to search for what I was asking for by myself. What a shit business. On top of that perhaps they need a course on customer service and Rosetta Stone to learn how to speak English. I walked in and was initially overwhelmed by the amount of fabric. When you're used to only having a Joann's, places like this can be heaven. Every inch of the store has some type of fabric, mostly lycra, but all clearly priced (but still a bit expensive for me. Remember, I'm used to Joann's and 50% off coupons.) I looked at the different knits, bamboo cotton, stretch lace, and designer suiting but knew I couldn't make a rational decision due to the sensory overload. My friend, however, found exactly what she had been researching online and was able to snag some remnants for cute pillow coverings and swimsuit lining. I heard of this place through my cosplay friends. So I wanted to check this out even though I hate driving downtown. Traffic and parking is so annoying to me. They have a LARGE selection of fabrics and the staff here are quite helpful in finding you what you need. The prices are fair as well. You will probably not be breaking the bank. I was able to find white stretch lyrica and mesh spacer for my goldeen cosplay. Also some polyester fabric for Sailor Saturn that I did not end up using. I will probably not go here again without a friend. I am a terrible fabric shopper. I like shopping online. But if you are in a need of fabric (procastinating on your cosplay) then I would check this our for your finds. read more

Let me begin by saying that, this was the worst fabric shopping experience in my life ! I don't know what kind of customer service policy the "manager" or what ever he was runs his business by but, you do not have your employees follow customers around the store, AFTER we told her we don't need help ! Every isle we went in sure enough she was there just staring at us , and drinking (everyone was walking around eating even the manager, yet when our 4 year old simply tried to touch the secured fabric it was a problem, so professional ) I asked her if she needed something and she said she's doing her job .. last time I checked you should be cutting some fabric or tending to customers that needed your help ! I walked in today to buy fabric for my CrossFit accessory line. They had great customer service and treat their customers WAY better than the trash, scheming fabric store of Carol Fabrics next door. The owners will great you with respect and direct you to where you need to go. The prices are reasonable and no ripping you off or changing from what the roll has it marked as. Orange tulle, you'd think that would be an easy fabric to find--especially this time of year. WRONG. I've looked everywhere and come up 0 for 0 every trip. I stumbled upon this place, however, while searching for should-be-easy-but-turns-out-to-be-ridicously-hard-to-find fabrics in downtown, and boy am I glad I did. Not only did they have a large selection, the staff was friendly, helpful and fast. They even went out of their way to recommend finishes for me. I completely forgot to take pictures but this place is friggin amazing. I'm new to the cosplay thing and decided to make my own costume. The staff were so helpful I showed them a picture of the costume and they were able to match almost everything I was looking for they gave me suggestions on other fabrics and even tips on where to sew in the zipper so it wouldn't show. The guy I was working with even went as far as to take my measurements and help me get the aproprate yardage. 10/10 would shop here again all ready telling all my friends. read more

I walked in to the store looking for some metallic lycra which they had a lot, I needed a couple of small pieces. Was looking for blue. So I was looking at the corners of the fabrics as they were laying on top of each other, but I could see the patterns. There was something nice on very top so I lift it up and looked at it from the side, then I took it to buy. There was an old man standing right over me, at every step I made. Then he told me if need a colour that was not there I had to go the back and get it buy the higher price as those were only pieces. I told him I need the small piece that it's okay. He started telling me something in Spanish with a lot of attitude and disrespect, I don't speak Spanish very good and he just kept telling me what I didn't understand. He said that I need to see the size and I'm taking them out for nothing, though I didn't take out any of them and only took one from top to actually buy it. I told him he was very rude and that we are done talking there. I bought my pieces and went away. It was very disappointing and unfortunately and had to go around to find another store and find other things that I needed. All that happened right on December 31, just the right day to make people upset instead of saying Happy New Year to customers as they do in other stores. I went to Rosa'a fabrics and the friendly people. Stay away from the store if you don't want to feel bad being treated as trash for the rest of the day. read more

The fabrics at Nunez Fabrics are excellent with a wide selection. Customer service is excellent. Carol Fabrics next door were rude so I only shop at Nunez on that side of the street. I love Nunez's fabric selection. So much better than Carol's. Public parking very close by. I prefer the one that lets you down load the app and pay by cell phone so that while I'm out shopping I can add time. The MetroRail is also not too far of a distance and doable which connects to the people mover. Bayside is a short distance away. read more

I live in Brickell and Nunez Fabrics was the only fabric store I found open on a late Sunday. I recently got into designing clothing and sewing. It was actually my first time shopping for fabric. I walked in and the first thing I saw was nice fabric on sale. All the employes in the front of the store where busy. I asked the guy behind the counter I believe the owner Nunez for help. Nunez was a little taken back that I would ask him for help. Like he was to good to help because he was the boss. I followed him to where the fabric was. I than realize I left my measurements at home. Nunez than got very irritated with me. I felt awkward and like I done something really wrong. I told him I would be right back. I walked back to the front of the store where my fiance was and told him what happen. At that point I wanted to leave but my fiance convince me not too. The entire time Nunez was starring at us like we where going to steel. I picked up a fabric that was $40 a yard Nunez looked and laughed told be it was to expensive for me. Eventually Nunez stopped following me but the entire time other employes where stalking me making sure I would not take anything. When I got to the back I met Hugo the only nice employe. He helped me the rest of the time there. When it was time to pay Nunez of course was behind the register. Everyone at this store seems miserable and are rude. I absolutely hated my experience at Nunez. The staff not only lied to me over the phone just to get me in the store, but even after the fact I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and the service was still horrible. One "gentleman" was helping me and said he would look in the back for what I was searching for, and never came back. I waiting 20mins browsing around, never really getting a straight answer and finally left. I went next door to Carol fabrics and as a result, walked out with more than I originally expected. Absolutely under no circumstances enter this store! Horrible! Terrifying! Every time I would go to the store I always feel like this business does not deserve my money. The employees are very rude and if you have no indications of buying within 5 minutes of entering the store, the stuff will make you feel like you are not worthy of spending any time with you to assist you. Today I came in with my friend. We selected about nine different fabrics, and after fabrics were cut, we came to the register for check out I asked for a little sample of one more fabric. The sales person took out his scissors, picked up my hair and said "a sample ha? you need a sample ha?" While holding my hair he made movement with his scissors like he is going to cut a piece of my hair.( I think when you are in the environment of Nunez fabrics a fabric sample equals to human life sort of thing!) it was terrifying because he was holding his scissors next to my face for a while, I was afraid to move. I think there is may be mental issue with the employee.We were in shock!!!! The environment and employees are very hostile and look extremely miserable every time.
