The entire time I felt completely rushed, and everyone seemed annoyed that we were there before closing time. They practically kicked me out by 6:30pm. Some girl even came out if the back room saying "at this rate it'll take us an hour to get home". I spent close to 300 dollars at this store! This isn't how you treat a customer who obviously needs to keep buying fabric. With the amount of fabric stores in Miami, you'd think they'd try to keep their customers happy so they become loyal and keep coming back! I'll take my money elsewhere where I'm treated better.

There was nothing near by that had been reviewed but I did find this place was close. Off I went, with a last minute school project on my hands and not a crafty bone in my body. It is a small shop. I am not sure if it is family run but it sure feels that way, in a good way. The service was impeccable with assistance available fluently in both English and Spanish. I gave the wonderful lady at the counter the measurements of the podium I needed to cover and VOILA, she consulted her older coworker and bippity, boppity, boo, like Cinderella's Fairy Godmother, she came up with exactly how much fabric I would need. Really, it was that painless. My project turned out great and her measurements were very precise. The prices are more than fair and the service is phenomenal.

I'm writing to share my experience with Rex Fabrics. This is the first google review I have ever…read moreposted. I am so profoundly disturbed by my experience there I had to take the time to share it with others who might be thinking of shopping there or using their dress making services. DON'T!!! Our experience was quite appalling. My daughter is getting married and we went to Rex to purchase fabric for my Mother of the Bride dress. During the fabric selection process, the salesperson explained they also make dresses and would give a discount on the fabric if you have them make your dress. When starting the process they explained we would first come for measurements, the second fitting was to try on the "shell fabric" that would be a mockup of the dress. That is the first moment we should have been concerned. We spent considerable time explaining to them the shell did not fall correctly and the seamstress clearly was struggling to figure out how to make it work. We had to offer our own suggestions and offer modifications. The owner Jenny was supervising every meeting and completely emotionally withdrawn from the situation offering no solutions or recommendations. She did not care whatsoever that we would ultimately get the dress of our dreams. She is cold and all business. The next fitting was with the actual dress and then we knew we were in trouble. It did not resemble anything like the model we shared. It looked awful and they basically told us, take it or leave it. They said we used up our three fittings and they insisted they made the dress exactly as shown. IT WAS NOTHING LIKE THE MODEL. It looked terrible and my daughter explained that I only have one daughter and how important this dress was for the wedding. They did not care. It was obviously a pure business transaction for them. They have no business offering these services as they do not have the qualified seamstresses on staff or supervision. I decided I was not going to even fight for another fitting because I had zero confidence the seamstress knew what she was doing. Long story short, we took it to someone we have come to meet who is a highly experienced dress maker and immediately she explained they completely cut the dress incorrectly. The new seamstress said, what is done is done but I will still make it beautiful and she proceeded to make modifications. We picked up the dress yesterday and it is stunning!! I am so happy this new person created a beautiful dress I will be proud and thrilled to wear at my daughter's wedding....but it also cost me more money to achieve the result Rex should have done in the first place. In closing I truly want to warn others who might be considering working with Rex for dress making services.

I was pleasantly surprised, finding such a wide variety of different materials from textiles, ribbons, feathers, buttons, sequins, fabric, beads, lace, and much more. I can't believe it's the first time I visit, and it certainly won't be the last because I am very crafty and I enjoy do it yourself projects. This store is great for purchasing materials for special creations.

I used to love coming here…read more THE PROS It always smells so good due to all the candles they sell. The nail technician, Amelia, has been here for 6 years and she's great. THE CONS The NEW OWNER, JEANIE, needs to learn some manners or control her mood swings. Normally she's pleasant. One can tell she doesn't have much to do other than wait around for the very few customers that walk in. Today she was TOO BUSY reading people magazine TO HELP me when I asked her a question about a specific nail color. She said, "I don't know. YOU have to look for it." I felt like I was bothering her and she DID NOT CARE TO HELP. And later when I politely asked her for the time she said she didn't have it yet her iphone was right next to her. When I pointed it out she finally gave me the time. Then she RUSHED ME OFF the nail dryer asking me if I was ready to pay saying I had been done a long long time ago. She ignored the fact that the nail tech had just checked my nails and told me they were still wet. The worst part was when she went to charge my card. Jeanie told Amelia, the nail tech, to tell me that she did not have cash in the register therefore she could not add her tip to the total amount. (This is how I ALWAYS paid in the past.) She DIDN'T ASK what I wanted to do. She JUST CHARGED MY CARD the total minus the tip. When I asked Jeanie directly why she couldn't charge it and give it to Amelia at a later time or even tomorrow Jeanie said, "What? I don't have it. I don't know what you're talking about." And turned around and WALKED AWAY mumbling. HOW RUDE! Jeanie does not deserve any new business if she DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO TREAT her current clients. I hope Amelia finds a better job and a better boss that is not DISRESPECTFUL and MOODY.

Main street is nice, you can walk around and look at the pretty stores but there are not that many. We finally found Valhala and walked in. It's a small store and very interesting. It's sorta divided in two parts, one is the "spa" the other is the store. So, we walk in and, on the spa side, there is one of the "nail ladies" doing her toes!!! right there!!! she looks at us and keeps dealing with her toes. Then she screams for Jerry and we go ahead to look for what we came for. A few minutes go by and no Jerry, finally he arrives and he's great. Friendly, helpful and going along with all of hubby's jokes. We found our item and bought a couple of more things. Jerry has a wonderful variety of candles and such, some men's clothing and some decorations. The store is nice, so are the items and, like I said, Jerry was great. But man! do you HAVE to do your toes right in the front area? Come on! it takes away a lot from the rest of the great place.
