    Boneless Ribs

Was in the mood for some good old American Chinese food and was actually quite looking forward to it actually. Unfortunately the overall experiences had its up and downs. I wasn't quite expecting the near 2hour delivery time from when I ordered till when I got my food on a busy Friday evening. If I had know when I ordered on DoorDash that the restaurant themselves were responsible I think it's better to call to place order ahead of time. I did get an update when I called an hour after my order time and they were courteous enough to let me know. Their food is pretty decent but definitely not worth waiting so long for it lol However they had some redeeming qualities.. the food was still relatively warm and I really enjoyed the boneless pork ribs and chicken wings. The other are more meh but for the price it's not a bad choice if you're craving for this type of food. But definitely get in contact with the restaurant before you order online otherwise pick up would probably be the best. I hope they can continue improve their services as I think with some adjustments it would be a great addition to the neighbors seeing they're not so far from my area

We ordered Vegetable Lo-mein, Tofu Vegetable Stir fry and scallion pancakes for pick up. Well the lady who was taking our order didn't wait for us to talk and hung up. But they got the order right. Vegetable Lo-Mein - ordered a large. not a lot of veggies, but it tasted good. I was disappointed when I saw a few bean sprouts and bell pepper. I was hoping to get more veggies. I have ordered from this place before and have faced same issue then too. Tofu stir fry - ordered a large, this was great - quantity, quality and taste, comes with a side of rice. Scallion pancakes - My favorite, remained crispy until we got food home and ate it. They give a few soy sauce packets. An extra star for the fortune cookies they add in all their pick up orders.

We have ordered delivery and takeout a few times here. We love the fried rice. Not greasy and plenty of veggies and meat. We were not impressed with the salt and pepper pork chops. We thought they would be served as whole chops, instead they look and taste similar to pork rinds. Lots of fat and overcooked. The chicken and broccoli was very good.

Combo Plate: General Gau's with Boneless Ribs

Ordered delivery from here twice. I'm giving 3 stars for the food alone, but bumping up 1 star cause of their cheaper price. If you're the type of person that feels all America-Chinese places are pretty much taste the same, Number One Taste may be a good way for you to save some money on your American-Chinese fix. If you are seeking a more flavorful or quality experience, you may want to find another place but probably spend up in the process. I most recently ordered the General Gau combo with boneless spare ribs, as well as beef with broccoli. The General Gau's was a bit on the bland side and kinda reminded me more of the sweet and sour sauce that you find in most American-Chinese sweet and sour chicken. Spare ribs was fine, though I wish they'd use more sauce on it. The beef and broccoli tasted the best - pretty much like every xxx and broccoli dish I've had - but the beef wasn't the best quality (I'm thinking the beef just wasn't as fresh?).

Anyone know if their vegetarian-sounding menu items are actually vegetarian? E.g., some of the items under "Vegetable Stir-Fry" would traditionally include ground pork (like ma po tofu), do theirs?

Good catch Mapo tofu traditionally has pork. This item was misplaced on the veggie section. we are currently making it without pork. For other readers, if you like it with ground pork please let us know and we can prepare with ground pork.… Read more

I ordered the beef noodle soup ($15.95) and vegetarian leek pie ($9.95). Both came out within 10 minutes. The beef noodle soup had the thin flat wheat noodle ubiquitous in Taiwanese noodle soups. The soup was well-flavored with stock. Too many of these sorts of places over-rely on soy sauce, making a salty yet thin and underflavored bowl. Not here. I will nitpick and say that I would like larger chunks of beef, not the sort of cubed stew beef you see at the supermarket. The vegetarian leek pie (as it's called in the menu) is a pastry stuffed with chive (not leek), egg, and vermicelli. It was decently salted and hot. The portion sizes were quite satisfying as well. Closing thought - this place has, so far, the closest to what I would consider a decent bowl of Taiwanese beef noodle soup I've had in the Boston metro area so far. I'm always on the lookout for it

Service was strange... hot tea came to table right away and was watered down and minimal tea flavor. I ordered a sesame chicken lunch special which came with soup egg drop soup, spring roll , white rice. I ordered a side of beef teriyaki . Waitress asked 1 or 2 teriyaki ? I assumed how many teriyaki sticks or small or large options? I said 2. Egg drop soup and spring roll shows up with duck sauce... egg drop soup was very good. Spring roll was excellent and filling was fresh. Then Next 2 orders of beef teriyaki with 4 sticks each show up??? She takes away my duck sauce from my spring roll... and leaves me with no duck sauce for my beef teriyaki? I now ask for duck sauce for teriyaki? She brings out a hot spicy sauce instead of duck sauce ? The sesame chicken was very good but more sweet and sour sauce flavor than sesame ? The beef teriyaki was extremely tough meat and I had to ask for a knife to cut up? No glass of water as I saw other tables getting water? I had to ask for water as tea wasn't doing it for me ? Then another duck sauce shows up I didn't ask for but glad it did arrive and was needed? Teriyaki had great flavor but tough like beef jerky and one order would have been enough to tolerate without the confusion of getting 2 orders and then also charged for two ? I found the service confusing and not a smooth outing? Then both the waitresses disappeared while waiting for the check . I asked for a glass of water at this point. No fortune cookie, pineapple or exit offering with the check? All in all I was confused.. but I would eat again here and assume staff trying ... next time I'll be very clear what 1 vs 2 means. The menu does look many good options and convenience with parking, location and nice dining room. I would have rate 4-5 stars but the teriyaki wasn't tender and too tough to enjoy.

The portions are generous and the prices are really reasonable, especially when you factor in how much you get. LOTS of bang for your buck. When we went in, we got some canned sodas, but there's a minimum $5 charge in restaurant, so we ended up getting an extra soda to hit that threshold (our fault for forgetting to add the drinks to our main order!) so just something to keep in mind. It's definitely a place to go get takeout and seems tailored to that purpose, but they do have tables inside for eating in. The staff was nice and very efficient. What I can't accept ever is the change of food flavors and quality that was the initial reason I became a frequent regular. I found out about the transition and kept up my visits and support hoping the dishes I frequented would remain the same. It didn't. It really changed quite a bit. No, I don't blame them for applying their spin on the dishes. But don't expect me to forgive a lot of culinary mistakes that your predecessor perfected. I actually updated this review because I can't keep a 5 star review on a place that I once frequented often that I now decided I'd never return to after the repeated mishaps again, and again, and again. I wish your family the best and hope for the best. But objectively, you can't just buy a place that had culinary excellence and succeed without being of the same caliber - or at least show that you're trying to be there. Cheers.

In fact, ever since the other Chinese spot changed ownership, I entirely switched to eating here whenever I want a quick sit down Chinese meal. The food is good. It comes out pretty fast. It's done pretty well. And the best part, it just doesn't remotely hurt the wallet. Even being a regular, I'm still amused at how the service is so stereotypical Chinese in the way that I'm just another soul coming in to be fed and not remembered or acknowledged. Mind you, I'm here a LOT and am usually the only one sitting there eating while delivery people repeatedly come and go. Anyways, two reasons why I'm unable to give them 5 stars. First, the tap water they serve...tastes like @#$%. I don't know what it is but I've actually started bringing my own water bottle (or just ordered a soda). Two, the steamed rice is inconsistent. Half the time, it's perfect. The other half...is wet and mushy (I want to say a reheat but isn't that just such a faux pax in Chinese cuisine?). Nonetheless, this is one of the few four and less starred places on my list that I will still continue to frequent and recommend to anyone in the area wanting a quick and decent meal for cheap!
