The food was terrible. The only item that was semi ok were the fried dumplings. The rice was the worst rice we've ever had. Sorry but it's not that hard to make fried rice. It was awful. Very friendly. Clean. Portion for lunch is smaller than most for the price. I got a lunch sweet and sour chicken no sauce. With plain lo mein. Asked for duck and soy sauce gentalman gave me duck I asked again for soy sauce again he said it was in the container in the bag. Another Great Dish We popped in for lunch the other day and I had my favorite Hot and Sour Soup and my wife had to try the Crispy Duck ($20.95). She loves duck and it's not offered in too many places. My soup was great as always. The Crispy Duck was fabulous. A large half duck breast was perfectly fried with a light, crispy coating, then cut into strips and set atop a bed of mixed vegetables. As we ate in, they had a second plate with rice and a cup of a savory dipping sauce that probably had soy sauce, black bean paste and some other Chinese secret spices. I always order the Chicken With Garlic Sauce at every Chinese restaurant most of the time it's good and sometimes it's great. Here it was eatable I'd give it a 5/10. My buddy got the Shrimp With Lobster sauce and he didn't love it. We're working down the street from here so we ate here one more time and same results. I won't eat here again. Anywhere deserves a second chance but not a 3rd. The people at the counter were nice. Took about 20 minutes to cook food. read more

Ordered $50 worth of food for dinner tonight the lo mein was plain, the vegetable fried rice had so much lettuce in it. The meat dishes both sesame chicken and beef and broccoli were very mushy. In a word, pathetic. Fried rice dry and tasteless. Lo mein flavorless. Egg rolls all wrap very little filling, very chewy.Fried dumpling inedible. One Star is too good for this place. We ordered take out / two dinners, Pad Thai Chicken w/noodles and Chicken Szechuan Style w/Shrimp Fried Rice along with three Egg Rolls. We got through half an Egg Roll and half our dinners and decided it was best if the rest of the dinner went in the garbage. The Egg Rolls were fried dough with nothing in them. The Shrimp Fried Rice looked and tasted like it was 5 days old. The Szechuan Chicken was the same, soggy, tasteless and very little chicken. It tasted more like Buffalo Hot Sauce then Szechuan. We have never thrown out Chinese in our lives, we always order enough for left overs for the following day. We spent $42, $40 of it went in the garbage. As new residents of Punta Gorda we know Number 1 Wok is one place we will never, ever order from again. read more

After waiting an hour for delivery I called to make sure everything was ok since I ordered online. The girl that answered asked if I came in and ordered, called the order in, or ordered online. When I said online, she said because I ordered online, she couldn't check but would have her manager call me back. And I should "keep the line open." So an hour later and - shocker - NO CALL. The food actually showed up 5 minutes after the call anyway, but that whole thing was weird. I just wanted to make sure the order went through alright! The egg rolls were - meh. Ordered 40 dolllars worth of food, got home realized they forgot one order, they gave us chicken fried rice instead of our chicken lo mein and fried noodles we ordered. We drove back they said to bring the fried rice which was a small. Made my wife give that back to them before they gave us our food. My wife had to drive there again when she was ready to eat! 15 min there and 15 back in the just said sorry our fault with nothing extra and taking the food back that we already opened hopefully not giving it to another customer. On my first visit, I ordered the Hot & Sour Soup and Roast Pork Hunan Style. The soup was one of the better Hot & Sour soups I've had. Lots of big chunks of ingredients including fresh mushrooms and more. I would have gone 4+ stars on that. The Hunan Pork was uninspiring. I expected a bit more spiciness and flavor. Also, the port tasted just a bit "off". It did seem to have fresh vegetables. I would have gone 3 stars at most on that dish. On my second visit, I ordered the Tom Kah Gai (Chicken Coconut Soup) and Chicken Pad Woon Sing. The soup tasted good, but there were not a lot of ingredients in it. I was expecting more mushrooms. It was 80% broth. Also, the chicken tasted a bit "off" as well. Not quite, but almost mushy. 3 stars at best. I had never had Pad Woon Sing, but wanted to try it since it was on the chalk board (along with the Tom Kah Gai) as Thai specialties. Again, I found the vegetables to be fresh - in fact I watched the cook chop the cabbage for my order. However, it could have used a more vegies. The chicken was an uninspired mix of white and dark meat. I plan to return to try some other dishes since, currently, they seem to be one of the better Asian restaurants in the area. Hopefully, I'll find one or two really top notch dishes before giving up. read more
