Ginger Dim Sum is like a spa for your senses. Upon entering, you are promptly greeted with smiling faces, beautiful decor, soothing music, and the aroma of good food. Our party of 3 was seated at a comfortable booth and our request for oolong tea and iced water was quickly filled. The menu is extensive but we had no problem choosing. Who could not resist the colorful dim sum platter which looked like a bouquet of flowers served in a traditional bamboo steamer? The exquisitely prepared dumplings tasted as good as they looked. My mother relished her bowl of shrimp wonton soup. The wontons were so large that she cut them into bite-sized portions on a small plate! She also ordered the vegetable fried rice which was impressive, filled with very fresh pieces of broccoli and other veggies. My sister had the bowl of seafood tom yum soup and loved it. With medium spice, it was perfect for her taste. The bowl is huge so expect to take half of it home! I've always been interested in Singapore noodles so that is what I ordered, and was not disappointed. The shrimp were plentiful and the medium-spiced curry sauce was delightful. Thanks to generous portions, all 3 of us will be enjoying leftovers the next day. Do yourself a favor and come out for this restaurant. If you like fresh, excellently prepared Cantonese-style food that is beautifully presented by a helpful staff, and that is a good value for the money, you need to treat yourself to a meal here at Ginger Dim Sum. All we do is watch Dim Sum on YouTube! It looks so good and we decided to try some today. Dave's not at as adventuresome as I. So he ordered the dim sum platter which consisted of five types of different dumplings. I tried to make him choose something else from the extensive dim sum menu. I added the spare ribs dim sum. We both had a pot of tea, his jasmine and mine green. He was still hungry and ordered the Barbecue platter with bone in ribs and roast duck. I prefer ribs to duck! It was very good. The restaurant is immaculate and service excellent. Our server checked on us many times to make sure everything was perfect. Next time, I will try some of the other dishes that I like turnip cake and shrimp with eggplant dim sum. The menu is large and there is a lovely assortment of dishes to order. Ahhh dim sum after Thanksgiving! So what do you do when you're recovering from a Thanksgiving feast coma? Dim sum of course! With us celebrating Thanksgiving at mom and dad's in Punta Gorda, all 11 of us trekked here post-turkey day for a family lunch. Being here reminded me of the childhood days of having dim sum as a family after a holiday or special event. Only thing missing was the push carts that we could pick the dishes ourselves! Nevertheless, the food is delicious and priced affordably. We ordered all the classic dim sum dishes which included the pork shu mai, pan fried pork buns, shrimp dumpling, spinach shrimp dumpling, steamed beef rice roll, and pan fried turnip cake. Also added the beef chow fun, lo mein combo, and the crispy peking duck. Every item was straight up fire and we had plenty of leftovers to take home. We were surprised there were no pancake rolls with the duck and instead were given the soft bao buns; but everyone ate those and probably secretly liked that version better! Even the kids ate everything on their plates (thank god)! Service is fast and the people here speak fluent chinese so you know the food here is legit! We enjoyed our dinner here. The service was great, quick and friendly. We tried the Mongolian Beef and Mango Shrimp. We both upgraded to brown rice for $1.75 each. Both dishes were served hot as was the rice. Portions were good sized and priced fairly. Only two negatives, Dim Sum is only served at lunch unless you want a 10 count of set types which is offered at dinner and the cost of upgrading to brown rice was higher than we have experienced at our restaurants. I have been planning on trying Ginger Dim Sum since I heard they opened. Finally, one Saturday, Mom and I decided to go for lunch. We got there right at opening and the employees greeted us right away. Our service was amazing as was the food. She was attentive, friendly and warm. The food was reasonably priced. The ambience was welcoming and inviting. We will definitely be back. I arrived at 5 only to find out the full Dim Sum menu only runs 11-3...BUT they have a dim Sum sampler and Ginger Soup Buns on their appetizers menu. I ordered both and some spring rolls. We got take out because it was Friday in season in Florida so I thought it might be crowded and I was tired. I had read about every review and knew what I wanted. The Yang Chow fried rice was good and colorful. The lo mein with shrimp and vegetables was cooked well, but the vegetables and protein here were minimal. It was almost as if they have a measuring cup to add the good stuff that makes the dish and they said, " nah, it's to go, just cut back. So I really give it a 3.5 but want to go in and sit down and see if you get a touch more than just a ton of noodles. They were tasty noodles but for 35.39 I can do it better at home. read more

Another great experience! Went for the Dim Sum lunch specials; left with a full belly ! Started off with Dim sum and Crispy pork belly. That bbq sauce they serve with the pork belly was so unique & perfectly paired. The fried pork and vegetable bun was my favorite, the texture was like a bao bun. The almonds also made the shrimp ball very crispy and nutty! Can't wait to go back and try new dishes! The Mongolian beef was the BEST we've ever had. Going to start my saying, I have had authentic chinese food. Grew up and lived in NYC for most of my life and this restaurant does not serve authentic Chinese food. I doubt the cook is Chinese. I was craving Chinese food and after trying multiple Chinese food restaurants for 11years while living here, I have given up hope for the SWFL area and maybe all of FL. Started with an appetizer and ordered scallion pancake. I was so excited to try this because in NYC, they're light, crispy and flavorful with scallion. When I tasted the one here, it was a HUGE disappointment. It should be listed on the menu as pancake because there was hardly any scallion (you had to closely look and the few pieces were tiny) in the pancake. Essentially, I had fried dough. Proceeded to order peppered steak & onions with brown rice and it was not great. Even before eating the brown rice, I could tell it wasn't fresh and my taste buds verified it. My partner ordered a dish in a clay pot which tasted better (fresher including the veggies) because it was actually made ready when ordered. So in summary, if you're desperate, order a clay pot dish here. I am giving it 2 stars because the waitress was nice and really tried. read more

Walk in and greeted immediately by hostess, was kind enough to even asked me where I would like to sit. Nice touch. Suggest making reservations if you can it gets busy. Super nice layout and decor and extremely clean. Easy to read menu and staff was very helpful. Ordered Dim-Sum platter 10 pcs and a order of braised chicken feet. I have been at several dim sum restaurants and this takes the cake absolutely fresh correctly prepared and full of flavors very impressed with my meal and service. positively one of the best dim sum / Asian BBQ a must try highly recommended. Ordered clams and scallop meal, clams had hard stuff in them (only ate 4 before deciding I was grossed out enough to stop giving it a second chance) scallops and shrimp tasted old and rubbery and somehow like they were cooked in dirty marsh water. We had ordered other food (appetizers) which was mediocre at best and also cooked poorly. The waitress proceeded to full on argue with us when we asked for the main entrees to be taken off the bill because we WERE NOT EATING IT, she lied and said she was the manager after we had requested one and then told us she "can't return the meal just because we are white and don't like Asian spice" and "well you ate half of this one already so no" (pictured below of when I got the meal and then when I had asked for it to be taken off the bill) It was explained to her multiple times that the sauce/spice was not the problem and we eat seafood very frequently. Only one meal had been taken off the bill (reluctantly and after about 10 minutes of literal arguing). Absolutely disgusted with how we were treated and that I was forced to pay for an untouched meal. If I could give this place negative stars I would. (updated response) I would like to add that we are not dumb and did not try to eat the clams with the shells on them ??? lol this place is unbelievable, the scallops dish had two bites taken out of it and was just basically moved around while we decided if we wanted to speak up about it or not... which you can see in the photos attached to this review. read more

These folks are mainly getting 5 stars for their crispy eggplant - seriously one of the greatest things ever. Also, the walnut shrimp was amazing! We also had the veggie fried rice and cuttlefish. The fried rice was fine, good but basic. The cuttlefish was very chewy, but I think that's more due to the type of fish vs how they prepared it. The restaurant was clean and smelled great when we entered. The staff was nice and provided good service. Again, not amazing but good for sure. But seriously - go for the eggplant. read more

I have to believe the four and five star reviews are from family because although the service is polite, they are not helpful. I said I needed some suggestions and the response was a smile. I went with the fried eggplant for an appetizer because I saw it mentioned here. It was fine but plain. I ordered Kung Pao Shrimp and it was flavorful but too salty. I had to request a side of rice separately to make it palatable. Husband got chicken lettuce wraps. They were good but he had to pay for an additional four pieces of lettuce . I am very excited my husband found this place. We came around 11 to have dim sum. We never thought we would have a dim sum place so closed to home. I ordered our usual; chicken feet, pan fried turnip cake, spring rolls, and roast pork buns. I was sad they didn't have the beef honeycomb so I ordered the shumai and the steam spare ribs. I also ordered a HK wonton soup. The wonton soup was good. The husband and I both like the taste of the clear broth. The spring rolls were a bit bland (lacked ingredients) to the husband. The turnip cake was a bit softer than other restaurants according to my husband, I agree but I don't think it's too soft at all. I did thought the turnip cake lacked ingredients. I only tasted dried shims, no Chinese sausage or shiitake mushrooms. The bao was good. The chicken feet and the shumai was great. I really liked the shumai. The spare ribs was good too but I was so full to eat much of it. The service was good and fast. The interior was nicely decorated in dark green with gold accents. Love it. I didn't use the bathroom but the whole restaurant seems pretty clean. (It is new so it should be clean.) The manager said they opened for 4 days. The price is average, like most dim sum restaurants. They are still having problems with their internet so it was cash only. Hopefully that will be fixed soon. read more
