Review #1,021 Posted on 3.17.26 We came here on Saturday the 14th when in town for a soccer tournament in between our morning & afternoon games. This spot is located in a strip mall right off the freeway on Mace, it's the anchor store in that strip mall. This place reminds me of a Nob Hill, or Raley's, Safeway type of grocery store. You can tell a store has all kinds of good stuff when the deli is elite. This deli had a line and about 10-20 minute wait I'd predict when I was there, people ordering all kinds of different stuff from sandwiches to hot items they'll warm up for you, it was packed. Their produce aisle looks very appealing as strange as that may sound, I joked with my wife and daughter that they had a professional fruit stacker with how nice the fruit was stacked. Like most places now though, especially in California, cost of things is on the higher side.

Adding this since I can never find the sandwich menu online- sandwiches are always 10/10, highly recommend the bottle rocket & buckhorn. Expect a little bit of a wait around lunch time, but it's always worth it.

Matador sandwich not much meat

Ok So generally I like nugget market though it's pretty pricey. However I bought this sandwich today and it had barely any meat on it. For $13.99, I expect a decent amount of meat on my sandwich, it's not wagyu beef after all, it's deli meat. But this sandwich had barely any. Disappointing. Also I wish they had a printed sandwich board because I have trouble seeing it on the wall since my eyes aren't great. The workers have offered to read it to me but then I feel like I'm burdening them.

Special shout out to Store Director Mr. Lambert. This grocery store is clean, well stocked, and every employee I encountered was polite and professional. For covid reasons, the wagons and baskets are sanitized outside. There's clear signage at the door about wearing masks. Additionally they took great care in marking the floor with directional signs and six foot markers. Especially wanted to thank the observant and diligent employees for communicating quickly to customers who fail to wear a required mask in the store! The fruits and vegetables are fresh and bountiful. Love the variety available! They are kind enough to provide paper towels to dry off the produce before bagging/purchasing. Really nice touch that the receptacles are nearby for folks to throw away their used paper towels. The meat/poultry/seafood area is clean. Great selection of fresh items. Nothing smelly here :) I was pleased to find local Italian sausage with fennel! Great job Mr. Lambert and your entire team. Cashier lines are quick and pleasant. Always an enjoyable shopping experience here, thank you.

They have no baby changing station in the bathroom!! For such a nice store they need to invest in putting one in the restroom.

Ask the Community - Nugget Markets

Can we recycle those bubble lined plastic Amazon bags here? I've seen it available at the Elk Grove Nugget and am just curious if this is an option at all store locations.

Hello Lynda – thanks very much for reaching out. Although Amazon’s website lists certain retailers as recycling drop-offs, in reality most local communities’ recycling facilities are unable to recycle their bubble-lined plastic packaging, so…

We realized that some good flour tortillas would really add to the beans and stewed chicken he made earlier in the week. We had it tonight and those tortillas really made the meal. We discovered their tortillas years ago and have been eating them ever since. They remind us of the homemade tortillas. Tortillas factories are hard to find in our area. They also sell tamales. They are ok. We get them when we're hungry and don't have any food at home. They used to be better, then they changed suppliers and they were too much masa and not enough filling. They changed suppliers again and now they are better, just expensive. If you're hungry give them a try. They aren't' too messy and you can eat them in your car. I enjoy a packet of hot sauce with them. My husband prefers them plain, but will put hot sauce on tacos and tostadas. It's pumpkin season now, October 11, 2026 around 6:40pm. With that being said they are overflowing with pumpkins. The large ones are $5.99. What a deal. THey have the sa

I've heard a lot about it but have never had to chance to stop by. Yelp was hosting an event at one of the local vendor stands so I used the opportunity to check out the farmer's market in general. I can see why it is so popular. I really got a sense of community walking around to the different stands. I love the variety; not just a bunch of stands selling the same stuff. Everything from fresh fruit, veggies, meats, cheese to artisanal baked goods. Everything looked so fresh! It was my first time at the market so I had to pace myself. I did end up getting a variety of goodies. Fresh pressed apple juice, black berries, asian pears, ribeyes (the big splurge), etc. It is very busy so I had to park a couple of blocks away but the walking was good for me given everything I ate, bought and sampled there.

On this visit, there were an abundance of kittens, bunnies, piglets, and ducklings to hold. My kids were really gentle with the animals. A duckling fell asleep on one of my kids' lap. Not by the lack of food water of the animals but with the supervision of what was going on with the animals. It is incredibly unorganized with these poor very young very fragile baby kittens, bunnies, chicks and more who were terrified and exhausted being manhandled, violently thrown, or yanked around by someone's unsupervised 3 year old who hasn't been taught what the word "gentle" means in any aspect. I understand this is for little kids and I think that's a wonderful idea. However, MAJOR structure needs to be involved with this place. There should be an employee (at least 2 for the baby kittens chicks and bunnies) with an organized line and a time limit to take turns GENTLY holding the baby animals after hand sanitizer so they aren't getting them sick which I literally SAW (I'll get to that later) all while paying high attention to whatever child is holding them at the time is being extremely gentle, making sure they are not being jerked around like a lifeless toy and frequently checking for signs of distress in the baby animal. Watching them clawing and/or freaking out for their life to escape absolutely made me sick to my stomach and hurt my soul to see all of that nonstop as an animal lover and worker for charity. Seeing a baby animal get PASSED around to the next extremely rough kid and not get a break without any supervision, parental regulation OR employers watching yet again and again what so ever was jaw dropping. This is NOT okay and this IS animal abuse. If you are a parent and bring your kid here? Please have the decency to PAY ATTENTION and make sure they're not being too hard on these poor exhausted baby animals that don't even have their mothers instead of scrolling on instagram/tictok or thinking it's cute while your child is terrorizing it poking its eyes, throwing it in the air, screaming at it, stomping next to it to scare it, omg I'm sorry but It's not cute at all and that is your job as a parent to make sure these baby animals don't recieve that. And I'm also absolutely looking at YOU employees as well aren't they paying you to make sure these animals are being handled with tender care? Being paid or volunteer work, it's one of the most horrifying things I've seen and I work in a hospital. I'm absolute convinced they're traumatized day after day with the way they are running the petting zoo after what I saw first hand. I was lucky to hold a baby bunny on my lap for as long as I could so he could get a nap in before being thrown around by these kids again. I will say I saw some kids that were (older than 8) being gentle with them with their friends which was extremely appreciated. Otherwise I felt extremely bad. Their understaffed and because ANYONE is allowed to reach in and pull these weeks old terrified baby animals out of there cage and rough house with them before passing them around to the next unsupervised small kid is unacceptable. Hey GREAT idea!!!! Can someone please oversee this and put some organization in person for this? Because yes there are signs however those are obviously going to be ignored. It is overly crowded and under managed for these animals and something huge needs to change because they are already getting infections and mentally stressed that's physical and mental animal abuse yet again. One kitten was thrown and landed on the ground HARD and tried running away until a worker caught it and handed it back to the same kids..one of the kittens I tried to hold (as an extreme animal and cat lover myself) I could tell was not only incredibly stressed with an extreme fast heartbeat but when I inspected her a little closer it was easy to see that this baby girl needed a vet visit asap, if they don't already have them checking on them. Not having dirty hands touch this because she had an eye infection that needed to be addressed immediate because retinal damage can lead to blindness. And do these employees care about that? Or are they too busy collecting people's $ ? I'll post a picture of this kitten and her infected eye I found as well. The animals inside the barn seemed to have good water and food but I just sensed sadness I don't think these animals should be around by children being rough with them blatantly unless their locked in and come up to the bar. Not only is it a safety liability, clear negligence liability, but there is a slight chance that they could still organize this entire petting zoo where they can STILL get the experience they want just with more structure and I mean a LOT of it, because what I saw was horrible and I truly hope someone of higher authority takes the time to provide that structure so this isn't so horrifying when we come back to check on these babies. Thank you.

She showed us her ideas for the bistro area, still in construction (at the time) which I wanted to sit down at immediately because it felt so cozy but it wasn't ready. The owner Shelley, was perfectly sweet, smart and knowledgeable about all the products in her store and pointed us to products that fit our palate. She even let us purchase fish tins, jams and oils even though she was closed since my mom was from out of town and wouldn't be back. This kind of local business should be championed.
