Liquid nitrogen theater meets serious small-batch craft…read more If you're strolling down Citrus Avenue in downtown Redlands after dinner, the billowing clouds of liquid nitrogen vapor rolling across the counter at À La Minute are almost as impossible to walk past as are the lines of patrons that extend well outside the store on a typical night. What sets this spot apart isn't just the sci-fi preparation (science and art together) --it's the noticeable difference in texture. Because the liquid nitrogen flash-freezes the cream almost instantly, the ice crystals never have a chance to grow. The result is an exceptionally dense, velvety-smooth scoop that standard churned ice cream simply can't match. The flavors reflect a real commitment to fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. Staples like Salted Caramel hit that perfect balance between savory and sweet without tasting artificial, while seasonal options like Strawberry Balsamic show off their creative side. The Avocado Honey flavor comes with a nice garnish of a waffle chip adorning the rim. However, my all-time favorite for over a decade of customer-hood has to be the caffeine boost from the espresso chip. Pacing & Tips: Because every single order is mixed and flash-frozen from scratch right before your eyes, lines can back up out the door on weekend evenings. It moves at a steady pace, and enjoying the process is half the fun. Grab a bench nearby along Citrus Ave to enjoy it before it melts! Pro tip: the Crepes of Wrath spot down the street has some great-tasting crepes that pair well with any chosen ice cream from A La Minute.

Not a huge menu but they had a good mix of both classic and unique flavors which I appreciated. The ice cream here is def pretty thick and creamy which I liked Avocado: 4/5 this was very fresh and I liked the ice cream itself a lot. Didn't love the honey on too but that's just personal preference Salted caramel: 4/5 slightly too salty for me but my boyfriend thought it was perfect

They were so generous with their portions for a surprisingly low price. I ordered a banana split back then, and they doubled every single scoop! On top of that, the ice cream quality is fantastic; it holds up great and doesn't melt into a soup right away. When I heard they opened a location right here in Redlands, CA, I knew we had to go check it out. The Redlands store did not disappoint! The tropical vibes inside are super fun, and the ice cream and treats are just as incredible as I remembered. We grabbed a loaded banana split and a Dole Whip dessert. Specifically giving 4 stars as the service was not great. The teenagers working there were talking to each other and barely engaged with us. We really enjoyed the ice cream and the tacos. The tacos were perfectly soft. It was really cool to watch, and they had a ton of different options for every craving. I completely understand and respect having a "customers only" policy for your seating area,…read moreespecially during busy times when paying customers need somewhere to sit. However, I was really disappointed by how that policy was handled tonight. My 4-year-old daughter and I sat down briefly at one of the outdoor tables and were asked to leave because we were not customers. For context, it was a Wednesday around 7 PM, approximately 97 degrees outside, and the business was nearly empty. There were multiple open tables both inside and outside, so we were certainly not preventing a paying customer from having a seat. Again, I understand the policy. What I don't understand is the lack of discretion or basic hospitality in enforcing it under these circumstances--particularly toward a parent with a small child in extreme heat. We weren't a large group taking over the patio, creating a disturbance, or occupying the last available table. Sometimes good customer service is knowing when a rule needs to be enforced and when a little kindness costs absolutely nothing. Unfortunately, this experience ensured that while we weren't customers tonight, we won't be customers in the future either.

Bahama Bucks, the last of its name in Southern California, is, on my opinion, the best shaved ice place. Period. Been to multiple locations on Oahu and Maui as well, and I'll still take Bahama Bucks. There's 3 of us and we only ordered one ice cream, so no lol. Maybe try "Can I get you anything else today?" My other complaint is the temperature of the store itself. We ordered a shack burger with caramelized onions, a double shack burger, and the new west coast fries. I actually preferred the regular shack with crispy onions since the caramelized onions made it feel a little heavier. The west coast fries were good but it was a little heavy. Getting Right To the Point: - WILDLY OVERPRICED…read more- MEDIOCRE FOOD. I've said this before and it is worth stating again: I always have a problem whenever I pay for food that I could have made better myself. If it is a matter of convenience, I could even understand that you may pay a little more (e.g. Starbucks McDonald's, etc.). At Shake Shack, we paid $60 for a family of three. We ordered a Shack Burger, Chicken Burger and a Grilled Cheese Sandwich. Sides were a Onion Rings, Fries and a shake. For the same food at Red Robin, this comes out to approximately $45, for better food and larger quantities. My burger literally fit into the palm of my hand. The chicken sandwich was dry. The rest was OK, but not great. Overall - Red Robin, Famous Dave's and Applebee's easily win over Shake Shack. THE BOTTOM LINE: We would have happily paid $60 for the food. The problem being that, if you're going to charge premium costs, you had better "bring it" with the food. Mind you: right next door is Sosogu Ramen & Japanese BBQ, Amoi Mok Mok, J Riley and the Redlands Public Market - all of whom have better food for lower prices. With average ratings of 3.5 across the board in all locations, I just don't see Shake Shack keeping up with the competition - but this is merely a personal observation. Sorry - just being honest.
