I never review but this one was worth it. My wife took my kids and their friend here for ice cream like we do often. After spending hard earned money my son put in 50cents into a small toy dispenser. When it didn't work my wife asked if he could be reimbursed to get another toy. She was told rudely that the machines were not theres (yet they are in their establishment). This is not about 50 cents. Who in there right mind makes a 6 year old sad by not refunding him so he could have his toy? If i had been there and it was a random kid i would have given him 50 cents myself. But the ladies working the establishment didn't have the common decency or class to do it. Shame on them. I would usually give this place a 5 because there is a sweet Hispanic lady Patricia who is kind and always makes my order to perfection. And I went in this afternoon for a 4 scoop mangoneada- the lady assisting me was giving mediocre scoops and gave me the saddest looking Mangoneada I've ever had from this location. I paid $12.50 for a Grande Mangoneada and I didn't tip because of the end product I received. As I was walking out she had the nerve to tell her coworker "No Tip" in ear shot of me. I love my Mexican-style popsicles, especially the creamy kind. This place has a huge selection and nails the strawberry cream ones 100%. Tried their coconut ice cream and they've got that perfected, too! However - two negatives, one more easily addressed than the other. First, no visible prices anywhere. I deeply dislike making a "mystery order," with the mystery being the price. In fact I'll often not buy things rather than have to ask, especially when nothing is priced. It's one thing if an item is accidentally not marked, yet another when nothing is. Secondly, no matter how good, they're vastly overpriced. There are numerous places I could name - not specific ice cream places - where you can buy great quality for easily 60% of their cost. Lower the prices and they might triple their sales. Super nice women working tonight. They were patient as my husband and I tried a couple of flavors before making our decision what to order. We both ordered double scoops. They even explained the difference between the ice creams and the water and ice based frozen treats. A man came in and ordered the corn and it sure smelled good. We'll have to try it another time. My absolute favorite ice cream and snack place! They are so generous with the servings. My boyfriend and I have a running joke of craving their ice cream RIGHT before they're about to close, and our fav girl Samantha even jokes with us that she checks the parking lot for our car around 8:50pm to see if she'll need to turn on the oil for us (to make some DELICIOUS churros). I wanted to fulfill an ice cream craving so I came here wanting to get a milk-based ice cream. Like most Michoacana ice cream place (which I really feel like is taking over SoCal's dessert game), they offer ice cream (milk and juice based), paletas (popsicles), and Mexicans snacks like nachos and tostilocos. The shop is very clean and colorful, with a good number of tables to enjoy your sweet and/ savory treats. I wanted to sample some ice creams, so I started with the milk based ones such as snickers, coffee, and the mazapan. As I sampled, you can tell that the lady helping me seemed impatient, so I went ahead and ordered two scoops of the Snickers and the Nescafe ice cream. The amount you get is very big, and the price is very good. However, the ice cream was WAY too sweet and too rich. I did not finish it. I should have went ahead and got my usual fruit-based ice cream and paletas. Overall, I had an okay experience. i highly recommend this place! My husband and I used to take our son to Baskin Robins, but since this pace came around, we don't go there anymore. This place is much better than any other place in town! It beats La Michoacana BY FAR. I tried the Elote in a cup and the Cheese and Cheetos for the first time here, so good! And I'm excited to try more of the Mexican goodies they have available, but i can only eat so much lol The staff is super friendly, which is a huge plus. The ice creams are true to their flavors/names. My husband got Abuelita's Hot Chocolate ice cream with an extra scoop of the Masa Pan ice cream. It was heavenly. I got coconut and my son got bubble gum. They all had a true flavor to their names. We also got some popsicles to go which i am excited to try later. I highly recommend this place. I've been wanting to try this place for a while and a recent rainy night seemed like the perfect time! We sampled the snickers and limon and they were both delicious! I got a 2 scoop agua de fresa/limón and my husband got limón/piña. The limón was super tart and so refreshing. The piña was literally like biting into a pineapple! The fresa was super fresh! We also went home with 6 paletas because, really, how could we not? We got piña, limón, jamaica, tamarindo, chocolate, and uva. I'm a new to this style of ice cream so I can't compare it to other Mexican ice cream stores. That being said I really enjoyed everything we tried. I first had the Mangolanada(sp) and it was really good. Got the medium and it was really a lot to eat. My wife had a couple of scoops of ice one being pistachio. She said she would rather of had Baskins and Robbins. The popsicle selection is huge. I have always liked Mexican popsicles and thought these were great. I've been here about 4 times now since I moved to highland and my first 2 visits have been good but my last 2 visits one being today around 7:40pm have been not adequate. The food was good of course but the girl taking down orders was just rude and seemed to be in a hurry to hide away in the back. I don't know what happened to the last ones that were very nice. This girl kept rushing us to order and was rude when I asked for no ice on my aqua fresca. I still got ice in it but I didn't want to hear her make more comments so I left it as it is. The ice cream here is good (mexican style) and there is a lot of choices but they never have enough help. The service has really taken a hit in a such a short time. I took my family on Sunday around 830 pm and the worker was rushing us out!! I asked her what the rush was and she rudely said, " we close at 9pm". According to my watch, we still had 30 mins. I will try this place again but if the rude service continues or they don't staff their store properly, I will take my $ elsewhere. BTW when I called to talk to the manager or owner, the worker said they are never there. read more
