I am writing this to share my personal experience so others can make a careful and fully informed decision before choosing a surgeon. I underwent a deep plane facelift procedure with Dr. Daria Hamrah, who is an oral surgeon. I trusted his credentials, his consultation, and the way the procedure was presented to me. Based on that trust, I moved forward with surgery expecting a professional, thoughtful, and responsible outcome. Unfortunately, my experience has been extremely disappointing. After the surgery, I was left with facial asymmetry, uneven contours, and visible irregularities. My face appeared unbalanced, with areas that looked lumpy, distorted, and not natural. This was not what I expected from such a complex and highly marketed procedure. When I first raised my concerns, I was told to wait and allow time for healing. I respected that advice and waited patiently for over a year, believing that the results would gradually improve. They did not improve. In my experience, the outcome became more concerning over time. When I reached out again to address these ongoing issues, instead of receiving a clear and supportive resolution, I felt that my concerns were not taken seriously. Eventually, I was informed that the physician-patient relationship would no longer continue. This left me without support after a significant surgical experience, a substantial financial investment, and a long period of waiting. When I raised my concerns and felt significantly affected by the outcome, I requested a partial refund as a reasonable resolution. Instead of addressing my concerns or taking responsibility, I felt that my concerns were not acknowledged, and my access to communication--including social media--was blocked In addition, there were aspects of the treatment plan that, from my understanding during consultation, were expected to be performed but were not carried out as I had anticipated. This added to my confusion and disappointment. As a patient, I trusted an oral surgeon to perform a facial cosmetic procedure that requires not only technical skill but also aesthetic judgment and careful follow-through. Based on my personal experience, I did not receive the outcome or level of care that I had hoped for. This experience has cost me financially, physically, and emotionally. It has also impacted my confidence and daily life. I understand that every surgical procedure carries risks and that outcomes can vary. However, I strongly encourage anyone considering a deep plane facelift, especially with an oral doctor , to do extensive research, seek multiple consultations, ask detailed questions, and clearly document all expectations before moving forward. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DOCTOR AND HIS OFFIE My mother-in-law was visiting from abroad and was scheduled for a surgical procedure. We paid $40,000 upfront as required. However, due to her medical condition, she was not cleared for surgery by the doctor, and the procedure was ultimately canceled by the office. Despite the surgery not taking place, the office has refused to return our payment. We have made multiple attempts to resolve this issue, but have not received our refund. Because of this situation, my mother-in-law had to return home without receiving treatment and without the return of a very large sum of money. I had a primary rhinoplasty with Dr. Daria Hamrah in Nov 2023. A visible deviation was present at cast removal. I was told it was due to swelling and advised to do tissue training for 4 months, with no improvement. No structural grafts were used, despite a deviated septum and narrow nasal structure. I had multiple issues: asymmetry, collapse, dents, hanging columella. Concerns were dismissed as minor. I was later offered permanent filler without proper explanation. My operative report took weeks to obtain, requiring multiple forms and manager approval. Unconsented videos of my surgery were posted online (with blurred eyes) despite me declining all media use in paperwork. 1 picture was posted on stories without blurring face, HIPPA violation. Videos remained up until I repeatedly requested removal. After consultations with four revision specialists who confirmed major structural issues, I asked Dr. Hamrah for a refund, which was declined. Only after posting a Google review was I offered revision surgery,which I declined.In Nov 2024, I had a successful revision with a board-certified specialist who took my case. I am writing this to warn you to steer clear of Dr. Hamrah, I would hate for anyone to go through what I went through at his practice. You can read my experience below and what a staff member implied to me after my procedure. In addition to my horrific experience people also need to be aware that he does not properly manage pain. See how Dr. Hamrah responds below. It shows his character: He does not apologize or acknowledge my trauma. Similar to a narcissist, he gaslights, downplays pain, and makes the assumption that someone who needs 1-2 days of proper pain management is a drug seeker....steer clear. Take time to read all his 1 star reviews here & reviews on other websites they are very telling. In 2018 I had a standard extraction for 4 teeth. During my procedure I woke up prematurely. It was terrifying. I could feel everything. I began to uncontrollably cry on the exam table and raise my hand to let Dr. Hamrah know I was in pain and awake. To my horror I was met with anger. Dr. Hamrah, he raised his voice at me, refused to put me back under, and forced me to go through the pain for the remaining of the lengthy procedure. He was being so belittling that I felt like a beagle in a testing lab. I felt I was being treated less than human. I couldn't stop crying because the pain was so bad. In addition, I was suffering trauma while hearing the crunching and feeling the pain. I kept slightly raising my hand when the pain would get so bad, to let the Dr. know. I cannot explain the horror I felt on the exam table listening to Dr. Hamrah angrily tell the nurses to restrain my hands that were only gently raising into the air each time the pain was too much (what I thought was standard symbol for pain in the surgery/dental world). Dr. Hamrah was so horrible to me that one nurse/assistant stormed out of the exam room in their own outrage at Dr. Hamrah because of how he was treating me. Dr. Hamrah had no kind words for me as I lay awake and in pain on his exam table, I was not comforted or aided in anyway. Picture yourself disoriented, awake unexpectedly, in pain, and being met with hostility from your Dr. After the procedure as I was in hysterics because of the ordeal, that same staff member who stormed out came in to speak with me. They profusely apologized for what I went through, confirmed how awful Dr. Hamrah was treating me during the procedure and that it made them feel horrible. They also implied that they have seen this behavior before from him. It is my understanding that most of the time patients do not wake up nor remember. I also took note of the staff members own maltreatment experiences and my own mother later witnessed Dr. Hamrah on multiple occasions speak down to his staff, like they were less-than too. I later found out that I had a particularly long procedure because my roots were very long and broke apart. However, it seems I could have been given more pain medicine, but it is my understanding and belief, that I was not put back under but because Dr. Hamrah believed I wouldn't remember the experience-so I was left to suffer. The assistant/nurse (can't remember exact title) felt so bad for me and how Dr. Hamrah treated me continued to affirm what trauma I went through and followed up with me multiple times after the procedure. My dentist who referred me to Dr. Hamrah was made aware immediately of the trauma I went through and how Dr. Hamrah treated me while in the procedure. To clarify: I have had my wisdom teeth taken out before this, I have had surgery twice, but I never experienced this type of event w/any professional. I should note that although I was crying loudly when I was waiting to be released post procedure, Dr. Hamrah never once came to apologize to me about what I went through and his maltreatment of me. NOTE ABOUT PAIN: After I went home and was later in extreme pain I learned that Dr. Hamrah refuses to prescribe medication other than Tylenol 3 or Ibuprofen. It does NOT matter what level of pain you are in, it is my understanding this is an office policy of his that he does NOT disclose beforehand. So even if you just need pain medicine for 1-2 days post opp, he will not help you. This added a whole extra layer to my trauma to what I went through. To this day I suffer major PTSD about the ordeal. It is a very real trauma for me. Yesterday I was triggered because of a family members recent experience with him and it is clear I still suffer from the experience. read more

If I could give this office ZERO stars I would. Horrible after care treatment provided for my son. They don't believe in pain management and prescribing medication. We were told to brush the open wounds with a toothbrush to make the pain go away. Definitely don't recommend for wisdom teeth removal. read more

This review is LONG overdue, but the memory from my experience here is crystal clear. I was referred to Dr. Hamrah for wisdom tooth extraction from my previous dentist since I had one that was impacted and needed to remove it before I moved forward with a filling. I called ahead to make an appointment and asked if they accepted my insurance. After giving them my group number and other relevant information, the receptionist said that they did accept my insurance and scheduled me in. When I showed up for my appointment, they told me that they didn't accept the level of insurance I had through my provider -- but they were able to give me a "discount." The discount taking off the $85 consultation fee for the procedure. Since I was in pain from my impacted tooth and I was already there, I decided to go through with it. The whole procedure cost around $850 (including anesthesia) for 1 tooth. (Side note: I definitely appreciate dental insurance that's accepted by your provider since it's approximately $500 per tooth without insurance!) Throughout my whole experience, Dr. Hamrah was a complete jerk. He was nice at first, but he kept pushing me to take the other two wisdom teeth out (for some reason, I only have/had 3) KNOWING that my insurance wasn't being accepted. After I rejected his offer, he was hasty, rude, and not personable whatsoever throughout the rest of my procedure. Thankfully, I have better dental insurance now and I plan to go to a better oral surgeon to take my remaining 2 wisdom teeth out. read more

On the day of my first appointment, there was a misunderstanding around the appointment time. They texted me a few minutes before the correct time, requesting my eta -- an odd practice. I told them there was a mix-up with times, and I would like to reschedule. Their immediate response was telling me to pay their no-show fee. They did not ask what time works for next time or any other standard customer service practice. Keep in mind this was all through text, not over the phone, text. Regardless of the work quality, MANY dental and oral surgeon offices in the Tysons area do an equally fantastic job AND provide common courtesy to their clients. read more

I am ambivalent about botox, but the few times I've gotten it, I have been mostly satisfied with the results. Having gone to Tammy (with a Groupon), I am no longer ambivalent (so long, paychecks)! First of all, I was late, which I hate, and Tammy was so kind and unbothered by it (even though she had a full schedule), and still took the time to answer my questions. I apprrciated her professionalism, her candor, and the lack of B.S. I am so pleased with the way I was cared for and beyond happy with the results, I will be going back. I was extremely disappointed in my treatment. I needed two molars extracted and two screw implants that, once they are settled into the bone, will be capped with crowns. He removed both teeth, but though I had been led to believe he could do both implants, in fact, he was able to do only one and spent a great deal of team tugging and pulling my mouth before saying it was a "Hail Mary" to do both when he was almost done. Had he told me that before the procedure, I would have taken a different route. I also believe his assistant was not adequately trained as he had to guide every move she made. I understand the dentist has to instruct the assistant when and where to suction and where to point a light, but he should not have to tell her where to place his implements during the procedure, as he did. read more

After waiting 1-1/2 hours for my appointment. I found DMD Hamrah rude and full of himself. Overpriced and would not let him touch in again with a 10 foot pole. Charged $93 for poking a lollipop stick in my mouth and saying he can take my tooth out in 10 mins. Which he would charge over $300+. Running away............. read more

This review is just for the laser hair removal treatments, I haven't had anything else done here. I have to agree with Amanda's previous review. This laser is terrible. If you are thinking about laser hair removal, don't bother with coming here. I have had laser hair removal before, but this was by far the worst. It was the most painful laser I've ever experienced (and they don't give you any numbing cream!), and the results are barely noticeable. After 3 treatments, there was hardly any hair loss. With the other laser I tried in the past, after 3 treatments the hair loss was significant. I'm just glad I bought the package off Groupon, because if I had paid full price, I would have been extremely upset. read more

I've been in Dr. Hamrah's office about 6 times now and decided NoVA Surgicare deserved a Yelp review! I initially visited NoVA with a Groupon (or LivingSocial?) for a Botox treatment. I had had Botox, around 4-5 times in the past, some with discounts similar to this, some without. I have to say, out of the many Groupon/LivingSocial deals I purchase, this is one of the few that has made me a repeat client. During my first Botox treatment, I mentioned some of my other skin and facial concerns. He took the time to actually talk to me, address my questions, and when it came to discussing solutions, didn't try to push me to the most expensive option. This was all during the first visit. I can say that I've done the "coupon Botox" before and the doctor typically just wants to get you in and out. I decided to try BBL to remove/lighten some of my facial sun spots. Dr. Hamrah has been very through in each treatment and, if he thinks another treatment of "zaps" (what I call them) will help, he has me come back, no extra charge to me, of course. I'm truly noticing a difference! Besides the occasional blemishes that still pop up, my skin looks better than it's looked in 20 years. Just to share my entire experience, in regard to the Botox, I did have some concerns initially. After coming back for my follow-up, about 1-2 weeks later, I noticed that I was still getting wrinkles on the sides of my forehead. I, of course, was concerned, thinking I got jipped with a diluted Botox mix. But, when I mentioned it to Dr. Hamrah, he immediately offerred a touch-up, which I took him up on. Then, about 6 weeks after the first treatment, the wrinkles started showing up AGAIN in the middle. (I've done this before and I don't start noticing the Botox wearing off till about 12-16 weeks.) I brought it up and Dr. Hamrah agreed that 6 weeks was too early for it to be wearing off. He again, offered to give me a touch up, no charge, and I took him up on it. So, in regard to that experience, I'm not sure if I've just got really strong facial muscles or if their Botox/Saline combo is more diluted than others, but, either way, he took care of me and has made sure my expectations are met. That, in my opinion, is good business practice and a sign of a honest business who wants to do right by their clients. Additionally, I have to add, the office is very nice, comfortable waiting area, and nice, calming spa-ish music plays. The office employees are always courteous. NoVA Surgicare has also been very flexible when I need to make a last minute reschedule or if I'm running late. I travel for work, have to head out of town at the last minute sometimes, and often get caught in meetings or con calls, so flexibility with an office that doesn't charge me an arm and a leg to reschedule an appointment is a HUGE plus for me. I definitely recommend NoVA Surgicare and Dr. Hamrah and will be back there soon for other services! read more

I recently had oral surgery by Dr Hamrah. Referred by my dentist. All instructions were made by my dentist to Hamrah. My initial meeting with him we talked about possible dental implants. He was pleasant and tried to talk me into going that route. However, the cost was enormous and I am 76 years old, I notified the office that I decided on the denture. We arrived at office for 10:00am appt. 2 hours later I was finally taken to room for extractions. I waited another maybe 45 minutes and he finally arrived. He read instructions from my dentist and decided I didn't need to be sedated. I said well I was told I would be and he said "well, I'm the oral surgeon and I say you don't". He proceeded to inject the roof of my mouth and under my lips and I'm pounding on the chair in pain. He leaves again for maybe 1/2 hour and comes back in and starts to pull my teeth. The first few came out without too much of a problem. Then the last one he broke off. He had implements for extraction, a drill and I'm pounding on the chair, my head is pounding up and down on the headrest. I want to say the nurse was wonderful to me. She cleaned me up my blouse was wet and I shaking like a leaf. He came back in and stood in the doorway and handed me the denture in a case. I walked into that office and was wheeled out in a wheelchair. The nurse went for my husband and she walked me to the car in the wheelchair. The one star rating was for the nurse who helped me - he gets 0! read more

After years of dread and procrastination, I finally got my 4 wisdom teeth pulled here at Nova Surgicare. My dentist in DC recommended Dr. Hamrah, and even though I had to drive out to McLean to get the procedure done, it was worth it. Dr. Hamrah and his staff were all very friendly. The procedure was rather quick (I was sedated under anesthesia) and painless. I do recall a moment in time when I was aware/awake while my teeth were being operated on, but I never felt a thing. When I woke up, I was taken to the recovery room, where I sat for about 5-10 minutes and later taken outside on a wheelchair to the car. I was aware, cheery, and chatty, quite the opposite of what I assumed my post-op behavior would be (groggy, crying, incoherent)! Each situation is different, but don't psyche yourself out too much. Do make sure you are prepared -- buy soft foods ahead of time and make sure to take all the meds and follow the instructions provided by your doctor (in this case, Dr. Hamrah). My recovery was quick -- it took me only 4 days to feel "normal" and fully functional, and about a week to eat normally again. My cheeks were swollen for a few days, but not to "chipmunk" status. read more

I have never done a review on this account before, but had to do this one. Dr. Hamrah is rude and condescending to his patients and at times with his staff. I heard him outside in the hallway talking to a staff member about a patient and making negative comments just because the patient had questions and concerns about a procedure. He was very short with the staff member when she tried to advocate for the patient and relay the patient's concerns to Dr. Hamrah. I guess he missed the bedside manner class in med school. I know they offer good prices, but I would much rather pay a little more to see a professional that is not just in it for the money and will do a good job; which is what I will do. I bought 6 laser hair removal sessions through Groupon (or Livingsocial, can't really remember). I just had my 6th and final session today. Pros: Office is clean, professional and tidy, The staff is also awesome, I've never felt rushed or ignored. They always answer your questions and promptly greet you when you walk in the door. I haven't met someone at the office that was sub-par -- the office/staff would get a 5-star! Cons: After the first 2 sessions I noticed a BIG difference in the hair reduction of my underarms. However, after the last 4 sessions I didn't notice anything at all, it almost looked like the hair that had disappeared had reappeared. I'm not sure if it's the machine, but I've had GREAT results using the Candela laser system. Also, the Sciton laser which this office uses is a bit more painful than others that I have experienced. Sadly, I won't be back for more laser hair removal =( However, for other cosmetic needs, I would definitely consider Nova Surgicare! read more

It has now been a year now after my nose surgery and I am very happy with the results. I purposely waited a year before writing my review of Dr. Hamrah just to make sure there were no complications, and there has not been any. From the beginning the staff was very friends and great and Dr. Hamrah explained the whole process in detail and did not sugar coat the recovery process. He made sure that i was doing the surgery for the right reasons and assured my parents that everything was going to be alright. As for the results. My nose was sensitive to about half a year (which is normal for what ive been told) and since then its been totally fine. It looks great. It is straight, not as long, and i breath just like i did before the surgery. I just wish i had waited to do my wisdom teeth so i could have done it at Dr. Hamrah's office as well. Overall great service, great patients care, and great results. I'm happy and i know my parents who were really worried about the whole process are very happy as well. read more

From the entire staff (front desk, surgical) to Dr. Hamrah himself, I've always been welcomed with a warm smile and friendly attitude. The front desk staff is always very sweet and helpful and Dr. Hamrah is very thorough, professional, and knowledgeable. Their office is beautiful and clean with lovely decor and all modern technology. I have had facials done here with my mother and the assistant, Yalda?, has always been so sweet and gentle. Our skin always feels so youthful and firm after seeing her! My father has also seen Dr. Hamrah for an extraction and he said it was quick, painless, and easy. I found this place through Groupon and first did 6 sessions of Laser Hair Removal. It was my very first time so of course I was very scared. I had Yalda as my technician and she has been the sweetest with me. Yes, laser hair removal does hurt more than waxing. For me, it's the same pain as waxing but lasts a few seconds longer. But it is definitely worth it since after my 6th session, I realized I can go weeks without shaving my underarms (something that I could never do since I was shaving every day with ingrown hairs). The office is very nice and clean and professional. The staff at the front desk are always nice and accommodating if you can't make it for some reason to an appointment. They told me about a special going on so I am currently on my 4th session for my face laser hair removal. If you want less pain for laser hair removal, ask for the suction device called the Lumenis Sheer Duet. It's less painful than the other machine they currently have. read more

If I could give it a 0-believe me I would! Undertrained and pretentious staff,including doctor Hamrah and his super incompetent "assistant" Cecilia who has no clue about medicine or procedures but would still do anything to sell you random stuff you don't need. I went for a juvederm and , while waiting for a doctor to show up,she said I should get cheek implants!!!! First of all,who are you to tell me what I need ? (Oh , that's right - she has GED diploma and a dream of becoming a nurse lol) If it wasn't sad, it would be funny. Second-doctor himself said I never needed any cheek augmentation. Third- I left the office looking scary. Why? Because he injected the filler in the area he was not supposed to and after 2 years I still have huge bags on top of my cheeks from residual filler. Also, the nurse who injects Botox has no idea how deep and close she should inject around eyes for craws feet .After injecting 20units around my eyes, I still had wrinkles and had to go back. My advise to you is- People,do yourself a favor and do never go there! Unless you want to be tricked into spending $$$ and end up looking like one of "botched" patients. P.S. Today I went back for my two weeks follow up I was disappointed!!!!! because I have not seen the changes that we talked about !!!!! RUN AWAY! This Dr has zero ability to perform local anesthesia and has horrible technical skills. My dental implant procedure was horribly painful - prior to the procedure his injection of local anesthetic was excruciatingly painful. He rushed through the procedure during which his wrench fell apart and I almost swallowed part of it. Thereafter I had severe pain which he failed to respond to. After the implant failed and fell out, a CT scan revealed he had fractured my maxilla. He never called me and while he offered to replace it I wouldn't let him operate on my dog. Lawsuit pending. read more

Terrible, just terrible. This place rates zero for our family. We were denied adequate pain relieve for wisdom teeth removal. Ibuprofen was the dentists drug of choice. Our aftercare bag had unwrapped gauze pads and oh the real dentists give you a syringe to rinse particles from that area. This practice said you only get one if your mouth is already infected. Isn't the purpose to prevent infection. From unsanitary gauze pads to no syringe..... Pick ANY other place. read more

Dr Hamrah did an excellent job and would 100% recommend for wisdom teeth extraction. I was really nervous but the other male doctor was really nice and made my way more comfortable by talking to me and getting my mind off of it. I give 1 only because the assistants of Dr. Hamrah are very nice. But Dr. Hamrah is pretentious, rude and lacking manners. He did not make the effort to look into my husbanf's file at all (wisdom teeth extraction), and he was pushing towards extraction of all teeth without even getting an idea about the medical history of the parient. Once he heard that we want to remove only one tooth, he became kind of edgy and aggressive. We decided we cannot trust someone like him and we canacled the procedure. Please don't waste your money. I have had botox injections for years so I know what is expected. This was my first time at NOVA Surgicare and I was beyond disappointed. Within 3 weeks my forehead looked as if I never had the injections. When I went back in the nurse was no longer working there so I met with Dr Hamrah. He said I didn't have enough injected....as if I was suppose to tell the doctor how much to inject....that's their specialty and job! He was enormously arrogant. I would never go back nor would I make a referral to NOVA Surgicare. read more

The doctor and nurse were extremely pushy about expensive implants, even though all I wanted was an extraction. When they realized I wasn't going to go with the implants, they let me wait for two hours, even thought the extraction only took 20 minutes. The doctor's attitude changed quite a bit too after he realized that I wasn't going with the implants. He was really rough during the extraction. read more

I am very disappointed with my results in Botox. This place was recommended by a friend and I was very happy initially. I have gone other places and with a smaller dosage had lasting results. My Botox has completely warn off within 2 months. They pressured me to come in for a follow up only to tell me they did a fine job and nothing they could do about it. A waste of My time and I will be contacting the better business bureau because something's does not add up. read more

My wife had her 4 wisdom teeth pulled out about a year ago, and it has been one problem after another since. She has had sinus infections because when her upper wisdom tooth was pulled out a hole was left open to her sinus which got infected. We were given the wrong medication for a month by Dr. Hamrah and it took several visits for them to open her gum up and close the hole. A month ago she got a cat-scan and even though the hole is closed, she will have permanent issues with her sinus. read more

I purchased 3 laser sessions from Groupon for a Brazilian. It was soo painful I cried. The technian did not do a consultation . She just started lasering away. After the second session my skin was soft with no hair . After the third final session two months later all my hair grew back. After all the pain I went through caused me to have a fear of laser. I found out later after doing research that most people require to have at least six sessions. Im happy that I tried laser one more time. I found a somewhat painless laser. And it works. Love this place and drive from Silver Spring for it--- worth every bit of gas and traffic! The building has ample free parking-- I have never had trouble parking there. The front desk staff are pleasant and truly helpful, and the waiting area is so tastefully decorated and comfortable, inviting. I go there for laser hair removal and see Yada. She is great to work with and knows what she's doing! Pleasant and attentive and great at addressing my specific needs and sharing her knowledge. I feel well taken care of, to say the least. I had two microdermabrasion facials here and was pretty happy with it. I've had much worse and some moderately better. I had bought a groupon for the facials so for the deal it was worth it. Not sure if I'll return and pay the full price or just find another groupon and try someone new. I wasn't blown away but the value for the deal was worth it. read more

Ok here I am again writing about "the best botox" but this was the best botox I received probably ever. Went to Novasurgicare after buying a Groupon, and Tammy did my botox. No bruising, or swelling and it took immediately. She also introduced me to skinceuticals, which I can't live without now. But zero pressure. Parking easy, staff great, and went back for my second treatment and didn't have to wait more than 2 minutes. I'd gladly pay full price for good long lasting treatment. I will only being going to Novasurgicare for all my skin treatments from now on. read more
