I noticed a leak from the ST-5 a few weeks ago. Judging from the water stain on the floor, it had been leaking for a while. Contacted L&B & explained what happened, identified the tank model (ST-5), plus photos of the items. Mike from L&B stated that it only had a 1-yr warranty. I mentioned to him that on the receipt, it says parts are warranted 6 years and that on Amtrol's website, it states that the tank has a 7-year warranty. To which, he simply replied that they don't cover the expansion tank. So, I contacted Amtrol for warranty coverage and was politely told to go through L&B and that they'll put this in as a warranty claim. I relayed that to Mike who said ,"No. We have to get it and the return the old one for warranty." He also said that it'll cost $300 to replace it. That's absurd. All reputable companies would only try to verify you as a valid customer with a receipt, get your current contact information, plus photos of the items, to honor the warranty. For example, I bought an Esprit ET-488 treadmill back in 2010. Its 2.5-hp motor went bad in 2022. I contacted Esprit about it. Without hesitation, the it sent me an updated 3-hp motor that's worth around $300. Other than that, I'd also had great experience with the Moen company in obtaining free replacement cartridges for my faucets on several occasions in the past. Bottom line: We as paying customers all want reliable parts and services. Do some thorough research and find a company that you can count on for descent service and for peace of mind that the parts will last for a while or be covered by warranty, especially when it comes to major household items, such as the furnace, AC, or hot water heater and accessories.

We were informed they would contact us within a few days to schedule the replacement. More than a month later, after numerous unanswered calls and messages, I finally reached someone who scheduled the replacement for the end of that week. However, we were then told the labor cost would be $1,500. The installers themselves were great, but unfortunately the experience with the company left a very bad impression. The installation took a little over an hour, and when I called to ask about the labor charge, I was told it was simply a flat installation fee. It felt like the warranty ultimately provided little value because the labor cost essentially offset any benefit. I reached out to discuss paying what seemed like a fair labor amount and to see if there was any flexibility, but true to the overall experience, my call was never returned. There are too many companies that value customer service and long-term relationships to continue supporting one that doesn't respond or work toward a reasonable solution. Losing a long-time customer may not matter to them, but it matters to me. I would recommend looking elsewhere, as my experience was that the warranty meant very little, communication was poor, and management never made an effort to resolve the situation. Reading other reviews, it all makes sense.

We've used Snell for almost 15 years - they installed our last unit and helped us maintain it for well over the expected life span of a heat pump. Lucky for us Joseph noticed how old the hot water heater was, and suggested we replace that, too. The replacement appointment was set for yesterday, and the crew showed up on time, protected my floors from any outdoor mess and were incredibly careful to not scratch and ding our walls while moving the supplies and giant boxes of things in and out of our home. It was an all-day process, but for what they had to do, it was totally worth understandable. Part of the deal was a new thermostat, and Yao was patient with teaching me how to manage it and get started with programming. FH Furr (via Costco) quoted us about $29K. KD Mechanical quoted us about $18K and we went with them. The installation occurred over 2 days in October 2022 and was done in a very professional manner. Notably, we had a problem with the master bedroom (which sits over the garage) being cold in the winter months. We discussed options with KD Mechanical - including running another line into the master bedroom. In the end, we decided to wait until after the new system was installed and then reassess. With the new system and a sensor in the master bedroom, that room is no longer cold in the winter months. Unfortunately, several months later we found water spots in the ceiling and walls just below the HVAC unit in the attic. We called KD Mechanical and they identified and fixed the HVAC leak free of charge. Not only that, they also sent out a drywall repairman to repair and paint the stained walls. Again, KD Mechanical took care of the expense. I could NOT be happier about going with KD Mechanical for my new HVAC system. Bryan Leesburg, VA
