Stayed here for two nights with my brother while he was in the city for a job interview. Overall, we had a positive experience at Nova Hotel JFK. The hotel is located in a very commercial part of the Jamaica area in Queens, so there are plenty of restaurants, cafes, delis, and convenience stores nearby, both corporate/franchise chain and local spots. If you need to get around the city, the F Train is only a few blocks away which made transportation easy.
One of the best perks was the free valet parking. The garage is about a block away from the hotel, but the process was easy. You check in first, they give you a validation paper for your stay, then you drive to the garage entrance and the attendants park the car for you. For NYC, having free parking included is a huge plus and you don't have to worry about looking for street parking or moving it around. The hotel itself is newer and the room felt clean and modern. The bed was comfortable, and for the price, it's honestly a great budget-friendly option if you need to stay near JFK. The area also felt safe, so for someone new to NYC like my brother, he emphasized that he felt comfortable walking around. The staff was also very friendly and accommodating during our stay. My brother checked in pretty late (around 10 PM) and they were kind enough to give us an extra hour for checkout. Housekeeping was also professional and hospitable. They made sure to knock and wait before entering while we were in the process of checking out, which showed consideration for guests and privacy.
There are a few things that could definitely be improved though. The elevator was a little strange because it seemed to stop on almost every floor whether you were going up or down, which made it slower than expected. The shower setup was also a bit awkward since there's no actual shower door, only a curtain. The water pressure was good and the hot water came quickly, but if you're staying with friends or sharing the room, the bathroom setup doesn't offer much privacy. The lobby looked nice overall with bright lighting and trendy greenery wall decor, but the entrance is pretty narrow. If there's a line during check-in or check-out, it can feel cramped fast. The runner rug near the entrance could also be cleaned a bit more often, although it's understandable since that area gets the most foot traffic.
One thing that would really improve the stay is adding microwaves and mini fridges to the rooms. Ours didn't have either. I wasn't expecting them since they weren't listed with the room amenities, but having them would make the stay much more convenient for guests. Overall, I'd still recommend Nova Hotel JFK if you're looking for an affordable, comfortable stay near JFK with easy access to food, transportation, and helpful staff. read more
