Under their brand of Decades Group they seriously overbilled my mom. Their promotional literature…read morelisted packages which suggested to me their billings were in the $200-$600 per month range, and that's why I approved signing my mom up with them. Instead, their billings ranged from $1800 - $4800 every two weeks - just for medical power of attorney work!. I would estimate their billings for a little over two years, mostly just for faxing medical records, at about $100,000-$150,000. My mom's trustee couldn't risk a lawsuit so these bills got paid. And since the paperwork nominated Decades for conservator it was pretty much impossible to fire them. So the nightmare continued until my mom moved into an assisted living facility - a move Decades opposed. My advice would be to not hire these guys. But if you do, put in writing how much they are authorized to bill and include a remedy if they exceed that amount. A criminal background check for staff and supervisors is probably a good idea too.

The assistance provided by all the staff at the Care Management Group has allowed him to remain in Albuquerque, in his home, as he wishes. The assistance supplied by the Care Management staff has ranged from initially assessing his needs, making home safety recommendations, regular check up visits, referrals to doctors & home healthcare aide providers. As he has aged, their assistance has increased to making and taking him to doctor appointments, helping with bill paying, coordinating the aide schedule and making sure that nothing falls through the cracks. In addition & most importantly they have met him at the the hospital the several times he was taken there due to health emergencies. They contacted us, coordinated with the doctors and stayed at his side until one of us ( the children) could to Albuquerque. Then upon his release they coordinated his return home & whatever services he needed. The entire staff goes beyond what is expected and their rates for their services are very fair and the same as the other similar agencies I interviewed. Without their help, our father would not have been able to age in place as he desired.

A nightmare! My…read moremother was admitted for home hospice over the summer of 2022. She lives in a trailer park on the outskirts of Albuquerque. I implored my mother over a year ago to consider relocating closer to my family after her husband died, but she refused. I live in Virginia, and I am the only surviving family member to advocate for my mother. Visiting Angels was recommended by Compassus Hospice care. She has been "robbed" (reported by providers) numerous times while attendance was present. I left $700 cash and a gift card for $500 (to cover expenses) in a pocketbook stowed in a location that only my mother and an attendant knew about- only to be informed that her pocketbook has gone missing. I have called numerous times when the attendant caregiver answered clearly roused from sleeping- and more than once with an attendant who was slurring their words. Furthermore, I have received multiple calls where she has fallen while attendants where present. My mother's checking account has been depleted and the only management involvement is to harass me about payment. The calls have been numerous and each with the caveat that home care will stop, and she will be discharged from hospice. I have been labeled an "exploitive absent son" and the attendants seem to be gaslighting my mother. They are restricting my calls and I have no way to reach my mother. It's been almost two weeks since I've been able to talk to her - I am recurrently told that she is sleeping, or that she doesn't want to talk. Now that her funds are exhausted, I've been receiving buttery calls from the manager that her care can be extended if other funds are available. But, if not she will be discharged. She's being transferred to a skilled facility and expected to be placed in a nursing home over the holidays. I am travelling over Christmas to be with her. I think that as the early boomers reach an age that home care is more frequently relied upon, that exploitative practices and unscrupulous symbioses have been forming between home hospice agencies and home attendance providers. I think more scrutiny and oversight of these businesses are warranted. But I am just another exploitative son. Working long distance with Visiting Angels has been an ugly experience. I expect a reply from a visiting angels representative below or subsequent posts to reply that we should talk this out or that I am being unreasonable... but I am not. It's been an abuse and a nightmare. My mother's last days are tainted by my experience with these people.

Outstanding and caring experience with Retreat at Home…read more I cannot say how impressed I was when I called Retreat at Home and talked with Abby Avrunin who is a Care Coordinator. I was looking for someone to help my Uncle take care of my Aunt who has dementia. She took time to talk with me to understand our situation and needs and then meet with us the same day at my Aunt and Uncle's home. She explained how things worked going through them and how they are partnered with Honor. We talked and meet with another home care agency over two months ago and they would get back to me to schedule a caregiver...I still have not received that call. I could not believe how quick Abby and team was able to schedule a caregiver to come to their home, within days! What a great team at Retreat at Home to be so quick, caring and committed to help us out. We have been receiving care now for two months and so happy with the experience. I want to thank Abby, the team at Retreat at Home, and the caregivers at Honor that have stepped in and helped my Uncle with the care of my Aunt that he desperately needs. You all are appreciated more than words can express. Thank you so very much! If you are reading this review and need in home care for a loved one please stop looking and contact Abby at Retreat at Home. I believe you will have the same wonderful experience as we have had.
