We were unofficially judging grilled cheese and mac and cheese all week, and this one absolutely held its own. I ordered the Smash Burger Pizza, and I was skeptical until the first bite. It somehow captures all the flavors of a really good smash burger, complete with the tangy "special sauce" flavor, pickles, beef, cheese, and onions, but on a wood-fired pizza crust. It sounds a little ridiculous on paper. It works. I also accidentally ordered one of their cannabis-infused cocktails because I apparently skipped over an important word on the menu. It did exactly what it promised without sending me into another dimension, which was appreciated. The only downside was that I spent the rest of the evening happily eating leftover Smash Burger Pizza and wondering why anyone would order anything else. When someone at our table asked to add lettuce and tomato to their burger, she replied that this isn't a build your own burger place and that she works at the Lost Colony where you can do that...but not here. Living in a family with gluten allergies and having none...I get how it can be frustrating (apologies to those gluten free...I get that it's way more frustrating for you).
