I'm so disappointed, this use to be one of my favorite venues in Columbia, and I'm finding myself writing a negative review just because of my experience. It's crazy - I came to grab a quick bite and good time, but was met with incredible aggression at the door because it was a fight night! We came in on the day of st. Patrick's and wow this place was poppin! It was also Latin night. The dance floor was full of people and the bar was packed! Service was good, the bartenders were quick with getting drinks made! We sat at the bar and it was very fun to people watch. This bar has arcade games and lots of pool tables plus ample seating for large groups. Towards the end of the night a lot of people were getting pretty rowdy. Without the need for any real motivation, I decided to take a roadtrip from NY to the DMV last week to chill with fam. While in route it was already decided that Friday we were hanging out. One of my nieces just moved and wanted to check out Nottingham's Tavern. When the day arrived, we all got ready for happy hour headed out to NT. Upon arrival the space is very spacious with some regulars at the bar. The four of us grabbed a high-top and was introduce to Jasmine, our server who was new. She was very nice and was holding down here tables very well. Now the DJ's were really good, I believe there were 3 gentlemen that rotated on the one's & two's. From the time we entered we barely sat down. The food and drinks were another story. The drinks, with the exception of the bottled beers, were horrible. I ordered a bullet with ginger-ale and my god sister ordered a Kettle One vodka with pineapple, both were nasty. Since both drinks were only two ingredients I'm guessing that their ice might have been the problem. In addition there was a Don Julio drink and a Pumpkin Espresso Martini also not good. The food was ok, it was pretty much typical bar food. We ordered the Chicken Nacho Basket, Wings (lemon pepper & buffalo), Southwest Chicken Egg-rolls and tots (they don't have fries... blasphemy!). I tried the tots, wings and egg-rolls. The wings were cooked well, as preferred, but the lemon pepper was absolutely too salty. The southwest egg-rolls were tasty. The tots were basic, again I'm stuck on the no french fries. Overall atmosphere and tunes great, the food ok but the drinks are a Nah. Which is crazy because this is a bar. To top it off they over charged us for one of those nasty drinks. I asked Jasmine, who again was great, about it and showed her the bill. I was offered another drink, told her absolutely not, but that I wanted a refund and she could keep it. The bill was already paid and she deserved even extra. Nonetheless we had a great time laughing and dancing. Just A Note: They have several things going on at once. There was karaoke and a comedy show schedule for that night. The experience at Nottingham's was a 5 star rating. However, service was not and although I could definitely understand why, but really? I wasn't looking for anything crazy big and when one of my social groups posted they were going to nottingham's, I thought that would be perfect. I've been here a couple times before and it isn't a huge space but I do love that they have an outside area. If you're ever feeling overwhelmed, you can go outside and hang out for a bit. People also go out there to smoke and on this night there wasn't a bartender at that bar so you can sit and just hang out and talk or chat. I love that a lot of people wearing costumes because it's just something hilarious to me about people dancing in costumes. Service wasn't that great and drinks took a really long time to come out and I understand it being a busy night and maybe if it is more completely prepared staff wise. They had some security there and it definitely helped to make things feel safe because I actually looked like security. It was explaining to me that they charge entry based upon capacity and not at a certain time because of at the time we arrived, we were charged injury which was surprising but I guess I'm glad I had cash on me. They also allowed re-entry which was nice because I had to take a layer off and it got so hot inside. They switched up their menu for the fall and had some interesting cocktail choices on there. I went with the hot honey Peach Margarita since I had already been sipping on tequila. I couldn't really identify anything in it besides a little spice which I liked. By the time it arrived, I completely forgot what I had ordered and couldn't pick up on any flavoring. Having the outside bar open definitely would have helped but maybe there's a policy about that and the temperature and heat lamps or something. They definitely should have had help with making drinks on a night with a lot of people in attendance. Nice spot to watch all kinds of sporting events. During football season, all the games are on. Plenty of space to sit. Reserved tables are welcomed. Have some arcades and pool tables in the back. Outdoor seating is available as well. Started with the old bay wings. Not too much flavor on the wings but you can taste a hint of old bay. Others that I was with order the jerk wings and said the same thing about the flavor. Not too much there. Bacon cheeseburger sliders had more flavor to them and the fries were really good. read more

I have a love hate relationship with them. To begin, I HATE having to pay $10 or $20 just to get in to the bar on a Friday or Saturday night. This is Columbia, not NYC or Miami! Also the drinks are really overpriced and it's so loud usually that you have to scream at the bar tenders so they can get your order at 9pm! With all that negativity out of the way, notty's is fun, I will give them that. The crowd is very mixed which I appreciate and it's clearly safe since security is all up and down that place. The food is also pretty good and not overpriced. They have good food specials as well. It seems like every weekend is someone's birthday so just try to get there early enough to avoid paying a cover fee for someone's birthday you don't even know. Parking is easily available and it's free and the place is very convenient. I would give them more stars if they didn't have such a high cover fee and I'd probably go more too. read more

While I am a Maryland native I do not frequent Columbia, MD. It was a Saturday. It was my birthday. The day went well but now it was late (11:00 PM EST) We were hungry again and very few options were open for food. Stumbled across Nottingham's Tavern with their later hours. So, we drove from Ellicot city to the "restaurant". We didn't realize that it was a "club" at a certain time - they charged a cover for entry. Again, we just wanted food but options were slim. So we paid the $20 entry fee ($10/person ) the music was loud, no one on the dance floor, plenty seating at the bar. We went straight to the bar, grabbed a seat and glanced at the menu. A bartender came over to take our order, we had been celebrating all day so all I wanted immediately was some water. The bartender gave us a price. So, we replied that tap water was fine. So the bartender informed us "oh no, we charge for water, bottled water is the only option". Confused, my friend asks, "Where are we?!" And the bartender says "Columbia" while I reply "USA" where I'm used to water being free. My friend then says "we paid $10 to get in here and we can't even get water?" Bartender replies that she was correct. My friend and I get up and she decides to ask for our money back (this whole interaction may have been seven minutes). Tank Davis, the manager, would not return our money (which should have been easy since I gave a $20 bill). The service was rude. They were not accommodating. It was a terrible ending to my birthday (I was clearly wearing a headband that said "It's my birthday"). I would not recommend anyone give this place their business. I'm not surprised it was empty on a Saturday night. DON'T GO HERE! read more

The Nottingham's Tavern is a sports bar. It has many tv screens to watch whatever game(s) are playing. It has a number of tables including high tops. The food is decent -- basic bar food. It is ok. For drinks you can indulge in $5 wine, $3.25 domestic bottles, $5 craft beers, $5 imported beers, $5 canned cocktails (this includes Truly, Crown Royal, Loyal 9 and Ciroc Spritzers), $7 rails, $10 margaritas, and $6 Jameson Whiskey. In addition to Happy Hour, they also have football specials: $5 chili dog basket, cheese pizza, boneless wings, pretzels, nachos, crushes, Smirnoff drinks, wine and canned cocktails; $7 mozzarella sticks, beef nachos, ultra-premium well drinks and tequila cocktails and more... This place is a solid 3. Very divey and big. Last time I was there I noticed a whole other section I'd never known was there and it spanned the length of the space I'm used to. My last visit I went to play pool. The pool tables are decent and are rented by the hour (I didn't pay so not sure what the cost is). None of the patrons seemed to mind my endless cursing from sucking at pool, which was nice. That said, I was less than impressed with the draught beer menu and they didn't have some of the bottles listed on the menu either, which was frustrating. I went with a Raging Bitch after 2 other options I wanted weren't available. Plus the food menu was lacking. Bar food is not my jam, but the sandwich I felt obligated to order was decent. Before we sat down we asked if we could sit there and was told yes, then after we order $55 worth of drinks and food was told we had to move. Then another gentleman came over and asked us to move because someone else had paid for the section but said we could wait until we finished our drinks. 2 minutes later a white guy came over and abruptly, abrasivemy, & rudely told us we had to get up now while he stood over two women. We asked the manager to refund our money for our food since we never would have ordered it if we knew we would be asked to leave and he said he could not because we paid cash. BULL!!! The dj is too good not to, C'mon (eyeroll...) I'll just leave it at that. Decent quesadillas, decent wings, chill atmosphere during the week. I will say this: some of the bartenders ive experienced here do need some more training. A Moscow mule is simple AF - it shouldn't taste like mostly sour and no ginger beer. Nottingham's Tavern is the spot to come for great happy hour deals and to play pool with friends. It is located on the side of a large corporate office building and the sign is a bit small. Unless you work around here or someone invites you it is not something you would just stumble upon. The reason it gets an average rating is the food here is not that good. The short blonde lady that waitresses there is amazing. She always takes care of our large group when we come in and remembers everyone's orders when there will be around 40 of us. read more

I was able to go to Nottingham's for the 4th time last night. The first time I went because it was recommended to me as a bar to go to in Columbia so I went with a friend. The last 2 instances were for a networking event for work. I've never gone and it's been overly packed which is nice. Usually a decent size crowd. I need to go back for another late night outing. This is a pretty low key bar. Nothing fancy but not bad. I've never had an issue getting service or had a bad experience. I have also been pleasantly surprised by how clean the bathroom is regularly (and by regularly I mean the 4 times I've been in the last 6 months lol). The drinks are just that, drinks! I never feel like they're watered down. My go to drink is Jack and Ginger Beer or a Long Island Ice Tea depending on what type of night it is :) If you're in Columbia looking for a bar this is the place I would recommend. read more

Came here on a full night and they were able to get my niece and I another table as soon as one was empty. We were originally seated by the pool tables, which was still fine with us. Terrible experience! If you're new in town. Skip this place. Very old and bare minimum just doing enough to call itself a bar. Security/door men behave like they're prison guards with extreme prejudice. They're there to defend the business and not its customers. I wasnt greeted, thoroughly frisked neck to ankles and spoken to with authority ordered around. The food is bare minimum in quality with little to chose. The menu was typed and printed out on letter paper. Not very inciting. Had nothing to look forward too eating. I ordered a cocktail the "side car." Cognac, triple sec and lime juice. They charged me for each cocktail ingredients separately which came to extra $6. The server never disclosed this unconventional pricing of mix drinks. However she did tell me the cognac was $20(her face slightly scrunched up w/ an undertone of its overpriced here) Thought it was a tad overpriced. Seems like your only good experience will come from the tv's and live events. This place does the bare minimum in overall quality of business and decore. Came here for a birthday party and parked to the left side of the building. With no trash receptacles in sight we brought trash (including an EMPTY cup) to the building to throw away and the security denied us entry for the entire night. There is a sign on the right side of the building about no open containers but it wasn't visible from where we walked up. Nonetheless we were denied entry after traveling over 30 mins. Mind you as we were standing at the door 2 workers walked in with open cups and not checked but we were told that because they were employees it was acceptable. Who doesn't love good food, drinks, and karaoke..... if you thought Columbia, MD hit a dry spell, think again. This place has all the entertainment and music you need. Great food and "within your budget" happy hour. Happy hour is over at 8pm so the earlier you get there the better. I strongly suggest you get there before 9pm on a Saturday, so you skip cover charge and get a nice table by all the action. Don't forget to ask for the fish bowl drinks and the honey old bay wings with a side of tater tots. The fun doesn't stop at karaoke. Nottingham offers sip and paint and comedy nights on specific nights that you will enjoy. Don't quote me on it but I believe you have to buy the tickets for those events in advance. Plenty of parking and they are open late . This is going to be my new spot to hang out on the weekends. P.S they have a slight dress code?
