This is such a weird ass bar that we came across. There's an LED dome and the whole place makes you feel like you're on drugs but I love it!! read more

Favorite new bar in Houston!! The outside says Clarks, but on google maps type in notsuoh (Houston spelled backwards) to find it. Very eclectic and artsy, must buy a drink to go upstairs! The two upper floors were my favorite part, there's many levels and rooms with art, mannequins, and random junk. The owner actually lives in one area of it (behind the sign that says private, don't enter). My favorite part was the sound dome on the third floor where people's voices vibrate and echo in it, very trippy experience. Only downside was that the drinks are a bit expensive and the bartender wasn't friendly, she added the tip for us and we couldn't pick how much we wanted to tip, there was no option to go back and choose either. Parking is also hard to find in downtown. A must visit bar! read more

Notsuoh - notsoH is Houston backwards. - Bars Near Me - Houston, Texas

Kitschy, eclectic, and artsy are all words that can describe this downtown mainstay. We stopped in late on a Saturday evening, and found a lively crowd hanging out among the various art-pieces and vintage furniture that make up this spot. The drinks are cheap and well-made, making for a fun spot for conversation and people-watching while downtown. read more

Have never been to such a unique bar! This place was a real trip while drunk but I loved every part of it. Was basically an art installation/bar combined with so many different rooms it was easy to get lost especially drunk but each room leads to a new cool experience. I'm still not even sure we saw the whole thing! Make sure to get the espresso martinis here! I'm not even sure I can do justice explaining how cool this bar is so you will just have to try it out yourself! read more

Loveeee this place vibe is amazing and so artistic I will defend will be back. This is like a place to sit down and enjoy life, music the art and just have a chill good time read more

Great cocktails and the ambience is something you won't get anywhere else in Houston. If you go there on shrooms your mind will melt.

This place has its own character. Definitely worth exploring it to gain new experience. Drink selection and cocktails were pretty good. read more

Notsuoh - Entrance - Bars Near Me - Houston, Texas

Notsuoh may be some hipster sh*t and that may not be your vibe (it's a dive bar), and that's fine. I had a great time at Notsuoh. We watched the Chirp Chirps jam and the music was top notch. It's a weird bar with a chill vibe and a diverse crowd. The patrons were friendly and off-beat. The bartenders were fine, I had no issues getting my drinks. If you're looking for fancy cocktails or a nice place to get dressed up at, this is not the place you want to go. ALSO: Things need to be cleared up regarding the review left by Evelyn R. on 1/11/2019. I was on the front patio at the entrance when the altercation she describes happened. I saw Evelyn, a Hispanic woman, and 2 men come to the entrance in Rockets gear. I overheard the door woman, Misha, asking to see their IDs. Then it all went to hell with Evelyn and one of the men yelling at the top of their lungs at this woman. Evelyn shouts over and over "You're racist!" as her male friend began to try to push past Misha, throwing his body weight to get into the bar (keep in mind he was at least a foot taller than this woman). This alarmed everyone on the patio and everyone began to stand up, men being closest to the front. What was beautiful about this moment is that the patio included white, black, and south asian people. If that isn't unity then I don't know what is. Despite this, Evelyn kept shouting "You're racist!!!" and this man threatened people of color on the patio. Eventually, Evelyn's tantrum was over and she and the 2 guys left... but not without her male friend giving us all one last "F*ck you... F*CK YOU ALLLL!!!" As they left, they threw 2 glasses from a table onto the patio, sending glass flying. Look, Houston bars can have race issues (we remember HERO). I have been to bars in Houston that ARE racist and have denied me entry for being black. I can truly empathize with that experience. HOWEVER - what happened on 1/11/19 was not an incidence of racism by the door woman at Notsuoh. What Evelyn R. did was low - calling racism because you're angry about not getting your way is shameful. SHAAAAME! read more

Really cool decorations and environment, there's always something cool to find or see. I went with some friends and they loved their drinks as well as the staff. read more

This bar reminded of being at a college frat party or house party in college. It is the ultimate dive bar with decor from every decade. They had random TVs from the 50s, mannequins, games from my childhood. It's worth going for something different and to look around plus the drinks are super cheap for downtown Houston. It was pretty quiet when we went at 10pm on a Friday but it started getting more crowded as we were leaving. read more

Really cool funky different place. Felt like stepping into another world drinks were average price

Ok, this place is really cool! We came in for a drink and loved it. The drinks were great but the bar is so cool. Don't miss it!

My sister took us to see the museum thing upstairs. When we arrived there was a sign that said you must buy something to go up. We were a group of 4 and none of us drink. Lol big fail ! Somehow they found a nonalcoholic beer, and they even admitted it's not something they actually sell nor was it on the menu but they rung it up as another drink just to charge "museum fee" And for the rest of us she offered hot chocolate we said yea, We literally all took one sip and dumped it in the sink. It was the cheap hot chocolate packs, and I she added strawberry syrup or something it was wayyyy too sweet and soooo nasty. If your going just for the adventures and don't drink maybe they should just have a donation box like $2 a person like a "museum fee". Don't know it's weird they even charging you to just see but ‍ maybe people camp in there all day ! We took a quick lap of the place and left. Interesting vibes to just see but defs personally not going there again lol read more

My nipples harden with excitement and anticipation of going to the extraordinary Natsuoh!!

This bar was pretty dead when we ventured in around 7 pm on a Friday. It's pretty divey and a taddddd creepy (mannequins everywhere), but I can appreciate the character of this bar. Despite the eccentricities of notsuoH, the drinks are cheeeeeeap. Our Old Fashions were only $5 and it wasn't well bourbon. That alone should encourage you to stop in and give it a chance. read more

Bartender aggressively put her hands on me. Will be speaking to my attorney about it. Do not recommend going there. She was rude. Violent. And will be having charges pressed against her. Just because you're a bartender does NOT mean you can to touch someone. I have it on video. read more

Terrible bouncer asked me for money for my friend it was horrible everything was hella expensive

Very interesting spot! If you get weird around a LOT of stuff, this place is not for you. I liken it to a hoarders dream bar. . There are lots of spots to chill, over a couple levels. Great cocktails! read more

Very cool and artistic decorations, but we weren't served even after waiting 20 minutes at the bar. It was moderately busy but she served other people who came after us first. She made eye contact with us a few times when it was our turn and dismissed us. (We weren't rowdy and we were a group of minorities, though I hope that's irrelevant.) We were bar hopping and didn't have any issue like that at any of the other we went to before or after. It was very off putting so we left. read more

Great vibe and a comfortable environment! I really enjoyed myself and the people. The middle floor was the coolest

This place totally reminds me of the old bars around Lower Greenville back when, before the uptownish crowd took over. Divey, no frills, just have fun while drinking your cheap drink. Is definitely give this place another visit and more if I am In Houston no matter which part I'm staying at. read more

Notsuoh - Bluetooth dome - Bars Near Me - Houston, Texas

pre covid review: It's houston, but backwards. Chess and live music? Never seen that combined before. The band was a lot of fun. After talking to the bartender, we got the recommended whisky shot and beer. I can safely say I'll never have that whisky again. It was something local-ish, that the owner likes (we enquired), so why make it the well? The shot for a drink like this should be something crap. read more

This place is full of random weirdness, but that's what makes it great. You'll find people playing chess, and drinking beer, live music, lots of crazy weird artwork (I recall a model of the human digestive system with some random medical product stuck inside it on display near the front door). You really have to see it to understand. This place is really hard to explain. There are some photos on Flickr that might be able to explain it better than words: http://flickr.com/search/?q=notsuoh&w=all read more

No one word can really describe notsuoH. First of all, it's pronounced as Not-Su-Oh and if you haven't realize it, it's just Houston backward. Don't let the decor and the crowd scare you away as notsuoH is less formal than all the bars that's in the area. I mean, yes, there's a Terra Cotta warrior right there by the door, yes, all the furnitures are most likely salvaged benches, chairs, tables, etc. and yes, the price is pretty cheap for well drinks here in the heart of downtown bar. The weekends are usually will have live music performance on their stage. There isn't much of a sitting area let alone a dancing area since that's where everyone walks back and forth from the bar to the front smoking area. But everyone there is pretty much chill and are willing to share some space with you. You can see the list of bands that's coming up in the next few weeks or just take a gamble and go in on a whim to see who's playing. For example, a few weeks ago I was showing my friend who doesn't go to downtown much on how much it has changed in the past few years. We saw a band from Austin that really rocked the house down and they made 2 new fans that night. I was even bought a free shot from the band as they said whoever dance the best gets a shot and turns out I was the best dancer that night. There aren't any fancy cocktails here nor fancy craft beers, just get yourself some sort of spirit + soda and you should be set for the night and enjoy the music while dance away. As I have said, everyone there is friendly (or at least should be) so you can strike up a conversation without feeling awkward. Now some of the reviews have mention about the 'after hours', this review is solely the normal notsuoH that you get to go into between 6-2AM. There's also other events that happens at this bar during the weekdays but since I don't live in the area, I am not sure the full schedule. Never less, this is always a bar that I would stop by every now and then just to show people the different bar scenes of downtown Houston and see if we come in on a night with great live music or not. I feel like everyone who lives in Houston or comes to Houston for a visit should step foot into this bar just to say, "Yeah, I went into notsuoH!" read more

I love this place so much. It gave me several pictures to upload to my 'bathroom' tumblr page from its graffiti filled bathroom, it gave me a great beer, it gave me creative and intellectual inspiration. I wanted to crawl into their dark, low ceiling back room and read Bukowski and write poetry. This place can best be described as "quirky" and "weird" and therefore "amazing". notshoH is "Houston" spelled backwards. It is a true dive bar. The inside looks like a storage building for forgotten relics in eras gone by. It has tall ceilings and exposed walls. They have a mid century piano randomly sitting outside the front door with faded jewels long ago glued to its surface. They have a collage of Keds shoes hung up on the wall. There is a skeleton with no head wearing a dress. Random furniture like plush couches and small wooden tables are scattered around along with mismatched lamps. They have a stage for live music. The night I went was for the inaugural Nerd Nite in Houston, and notsuoH will be the home for Houston's Nerd Nite until they outgrow the space which is likely to be soon based on almost max capacity opening night. My understanding is that they have had other speaking engagements on their stage like spoken poetry. Personal touches of notsuoH: chess boards and a resident cat. Cheap drinks. Note: Snobs and normal people would hate this place. read more

Kk made the best drinks and even helped get a bandaid for us during a rush! Super kind bartenders and funky curation of art and people!

The girl bartender downstairs is rude. I asked for a simple drink and she said "I'm not making that" in a very dismissive attitude. And then they have the audacity to charge their own gratuity. Overall the place is neat and an experience in its own, but it would be better if the staff was friendly and welcoming, which is not the case. read more

Was traveling through Houston and thought this looked like a cool artsy bar. Was really disappointed by the extremely rude bartender (who looked like he was from a hipster barista meme). Super disrespectful and argumentative towards patrons. Continued making passive aggressive comments towards my friends and I. He literally followed me around and kept making comments, trying to intimidate me. The bar is also a live music venue, but the stage faces directly at a wall, so naturally it's very loud. While bands were playing the bartender acted like he was surprised that drums were a naturally loud instrument. He was visibly upset that there was live music and acting condescending and aggressive towards the musical acts. Seems like these people need to get on the same page about what kind of space they're trying to run. If they don't want bands, they shouldn't have bands....but they shouldn't invite bands to play and then get mad at them for playing lol. Makes no sense. read more

Got charged 12 bucks for a basic drink. Old building so pretty dirty inside. I would not recommend.

Worst experience ever.. Went to order a cosmo and a beer only for the bartender (Blonde with glasses) to tell me "it's too late for cosmos." Mind you this was at 12:30am and I'm pretty sure any other place would have made it. She seemed like she hated her life but being a bartender/server you have to be professional and not be the reason someone has a bad experience. Not only that but they asked us to leave for doing NOTHING at all.. AVOID THIS PLACE! read more

Let's be absolutely clear here: This is not a bar for everyone. Don't let the address fool you, this is not a trendy cocktail bar. This is a strange, dark little chaotic spot where weird people go to be weird. It's also one of my favorite bars in Houston. The bartenders are generally really chill people who have a lot of interesting stuff to talk about on slower nights. The drinks are cheap and strong. The entertainment is usually very interesting. Go expecting a 'dive bar on psychedelics' and you should be fine. Don't be a brat, don't expect the fancy trendiness that's common in the area, and just embrace the strangeness. read more

Well we had Just been dropped off by Uber intending to go to the bar next door of this one. However they were not opened even though they were supposed to be according to whomever answered the phone when we called. However we decided to come into this bar. The bartender was super nice and he had a kilt on. The decor is eclectic to say the least. No one was really in there in the early evening on a Sunday (at least not pre dinner early like we were) so we just had a few drinks and chilled. This bar/club has a super young vibe and just wasn't my cup of tea. We had a nice time but we just stumbled into this place, probably won't go back. read more

I have been trying to figure out how I should put this review together, because however I try to describe notsuoH to you it will not do this place justice. I think the only way that best describes the look and feel of this place is to go this route. notsuoH reminded me of "Buffalo Bill's" aka Jame Gumb's basement from the movie Silence of the Lambs. It was very random and bizarre. Despite the look and feel of notsuoH it is totally laid back. I was invited here by a friend, his death metal band was playing at notsuoH, Fighten' Pretty. I arrived early so I was able to also catch the band that played before them, Balls Deep. I was glad I did. Fighten Pretty came on strong and solid, but Balls Deep was equally entertaining. Balls Deep is 2 white guys rapping about, well maybe these song titles can help you out. How can I ever forget this diddy "Ho's Ho's wit no Clothes", or maybe this one that is destined to become a classic in the Houston underground white guy rapping scene "My Dicks in Mississippi". Anyhow notsuoH has a steady line up of local bands and local art, and people are typically pouring out onto the sidewalk. On this evening, they were out of the first 2 beers I asked for but the bartender made it clear that I shouldn't worry because everything is $2. My response was "in that case get me a couple of New Castles." He was right it really wasn't a problem the rest of the night. NotsuoH is in a class and Category all on it's own, and for that I'm giving it a lot of love, 5 stars it is. read more
