The place is disgusting. My wife thought it was nice to buy me some vintage shirts so she went to this location and brought them home. A few days later, I noticed I had some marks on my arm and it was very itchy so I went to the urgent care, and they told me to go to the emergency room where they told me that I had bedbugs, and that the bedbugs came from the clothing I was wearing.. We went back to the location to tell them of the situation, and they assure us that they have no bedbugs, but we found out that everything that they sell is donated by people and then resold at a profit so there is no way of them knowing if someone has bedbugs or not so I suggest that you steer clear to this place. This review is for the 4885 Arthur Kill Road location, since the other store closed. I went for the first-time last week, and I liked it! They had a good selection of clothing, knick-knacks, etc., the people running it were really nice and helpful and I scored a Patrica Nash handbag for cheap. :-) They also have a buy 2, get 1 item free special, which I will be taking advantage of the next time I go back. Overall, I liked this store and would recommend to anyone that likes to thrift. read more

so disappointed..... the old nothing new across the street was amazing. 2 floors, amazing diverse collection, well organized. a tiny bit pricey, but felt worth it for the experience. the clothes were gorgeous, high quality, vintage. then they opened up nothing new II across the street, which wasn't great, disorganized, kinda small, but i thought whatever. they just opened up, they'll get more stuff and it'll be great. now? they closed the original nothing new. there's only the 2nd store, now just called nothing new. it's terrible. they're displaying cheap, STAINED forever 21 clothes. i saw a knit dress with a huge stain being sold for $50. so many stained clothes too. cheap shirts are being sold for $10. it's outrageous. everything is fast fashion, very little vintage. not to mention everything is incredibly disorganized, crowded, and thoughtless. yet there's barely a quarter of the amount of clothes in the old store. (not half, since there's one less floor-- a QUARTER. the old one really optimized its space. the new one does not.) just terrible. terrible selection, cheaply made stained clothes sold for $15, disorganized, everything. just wow. read more

The staff here really went out of their way to accommodate me and my little one. We even got a couple of free baby gifts including a rain cover for our stroller. I could really use that on some downpour days! Ended up finding a few items that spark joy and even got the card for another local shop that might carry christening outfits which is actually what we were searching for. Today I had my 1st experience with Nothing new!! I was very impressed by the welcoming staff. They took the time to help and explain to me how there fill a bag worked. Well, let me tell you , the BEST experience I had ever had in a thrift shop. I filled 2 bags for $50.00 with beautiful clothing that most had tags on them along with designer names. have tried many times to give this store a chance, however, there are better thrifts out there and after my experience with the owner today, I was appalled. I reached on a top shelf to take down a dish with a sculpture. The items on the top shelf were wobbly and another large ceramic item came down at me. In turn I dropped the item I was holding and it broke. In a normal situation, a person working would have asked if I was okay. Instead, the owner made a snarky remark towards me stating "10 years and 15 minutes of the item in the store and this is what happens." She then proceeded to say "This is why we can"t drive while on our cell phones." referring to me because I was on the phone while it happened. The phone however was not the cause; lack of proper staging/displaying in an unstable way was. I responded back "And that's why you can't put wobbly items on the top shelf either." I offered to pay for the item as well that broke. Another worker then came over and removed items from the top that she herself noted were not flat on the bottom and could also fall. my plan was to visit the other location afterwards, but Inwas so taken back at the inappropriate response I received, I decided to spend my money elsewhere. I have never seen such a lack of concern for the well being of others and her only concern was the item marked $5 that broke. I actually hurt my finger, but passing blame was the only thing on her agenda today. Extremely rude and poor customer service. **On a side note, the other ladies that work this location are usually very nice and she should be thankful because they obviously keep the business going and keep customers going back. read more

The owner and staff are genuinely kind people who are looking to give you great deals on fantastic finds. The inventory is constantly changing and full of household seasonal items. There is also a whole shelf of free items that are just given away! A special little touch is the painted coin that is given to you at your first purchase. I used to shop at their original location on Amboy and other than the size, not much has changed. Run by the same people and it's very hit or miss.... Sometimes I'll get a couple of cool funky tshirts, or a hoodie- sometimes I walk out without spending a dime. The reasons for only three stars: 1) the thrift store is run by (or connected to) some sort of religious organization and I've had customers and employees alike attempt to engage me in conversations about religion. Very uncomfortable- I came in here to buy a tshirt not find Jesus (I didn't know he was missing)! 2) recently, I was here and found 1 each tshirt hoodie and jacket. Of course, nothing was marked with tags so when I took it up to the counter I was quoted $30 for the three items. I thought this a bit much and told the woman I could do $20 which was what the items were worth in that condition, plus I only had a little over $20 in cash. The woman behind the counter said "ok I'll do it this time but don't ask for a discount again because I have to pay my rent" yea, so do I! I almost walked out with that but I took my really cool new jacket and bounced before she decided the rent was too damn high..... The worst part about that is if they are running with the same model as they did on Amboy rd EVERYTHING in the store is donated goods! They have no investment in the items! 3) cash only. 4) their items need to be tagged with prices. Apparently they put little garage sale stickers on their items which of course fall off clothing when you are going through the racks... So you have no idea how much something is until you take it up to the register I have local friends that love this location, and to be quite honest I would go back... I just don't have high expectations read more

I have been a customer of Nothing New since the location on Amboy Road was open and it is always a seamless shopping experience. Always get the warmest welcome. Many times that I have shopped here, I am finding womens shirts and shoes in the mens racks. I even mistakenly bought boots, only to find that someone covered the "Madden Girl" logo or forgot to remove the used heelguard inside the boots. Prices are reasonable, however some things are overpriced but weekly deals and fill-a-bag sales make up for that. I have never left the store feeling less than satisfied with overall experience. I used to shop in her first store in Huguenot. Supposedly she was going to school to become a pastor, honestly I think she did it so she wouldn't have to pay taxes. Everything in her store was basically donated or bought cheap. At first I thought she was nice but soon I discovered she was a bit of a curmudgeon she cursed and she was moody. Not your typical behavior for a pastor. When she was closing down her store I went shopping like normal. I don't remember what it was, I pick something up look at it and put it down. Then the next thing you know she's accusing me of taking it , I was shocked and mortified because she had said it in front of a store full of people. So I asked her would you feel better if I let you look in my bag and she goes yes alright so I opened my bag of course it's not in there! A few minutes later her employee found it! I was angry, hurt, upset ,she never apologized to me after all the money I spent in her store and all the bags of donations. I'd go shopping in her store at least once or twice a week. Not to mention the number of times when her daughters wanted to run to the store next door or she wanted to go outside for a cigarette ,all the times I was alone in her store. I could have taken stuff off the shelves I've never done that! I don't know what the hell she was thinking but it definitely was really messed up. I've come in here and bought clothes, books, and games at super low prices, and have had great conversations with the women who work here as well.
