Based on the amount of people in there, the food came out slowly. However, we both enjoyed our meals. My elk burger was tasty but I couldn't find the elusive Saskatoon jam on it. Soup was amazing. Hubby really enjoyed his burger and fries. Not at all a bad pit stop.

i read the reviews. i have been there 7 times; 4 dinner and 3 lunch. Service: 5 times of 7 we had to ask the server if we could have another drink after waiting 5 mins with empty glasses. This seems to be a theme of my experience at NOtaBLE. Overall service seemed to be MIA and the majority of my visits had our table seeking the server. Frustrating. Lunch: All 3 meals were the same thing for me. Buffalo Burger. When i let them cook it their way, excellent. When i asked for Medium, it turned up very Rare. i would like to have sent it back, but waiter was nowhere to be found. Dinner: Tried Steak 2 times. Both medium rare. One was very Rare and the other was Rare. Ordered a Buffalo Burger on another night and asked for medium. It arrived yet again very rare. Arrrrgggghhhh! My last visit we sat in the bar area. i decided that i could not go through another raw Buffalo experience. i was too afraid to try a steak so i went with Prime Rib. After waiting with empty beer glasses and watching our server mingle with 2 managers doing nothing, we finally caught her attention. When she came back with our beverages, we were told (20 mins after ordering) that they had run out of prime rib. sigh. i went with the rotisserie chicken. SUPERB!!!! And a final story. i booked in advance (the first date allowed to pre book for the day i wanted) and told them it was my wife's birthday. We would like the best table in the house in terms of intimacy. i also asked if they acknowledge birthdays in anyway. i was told that they would make sure my wife's birthday was special. We arrived and taken to our table by the bathrooms. i immediately went up to the hostess to remind them of my request and the day i made it. i also reminded them of my wife's birthday. We were put in a better table. No acknowledgement to my wife the entire evening. Not by the hostess nor the server. Normally, i would not care but as they said they acknowledge birthdays and thinking that at least the dessert i ordered for her might spark some greeting of Happy Birthday by ANYONE at NOtaBLE. :laughing: What a disappointment...again. Now, some of you might be asking why would i continue to go back to a place that has lousy service, can't cook a steak or burger? Its 2 blocks from me. i was invited 6 of the 7 times and the one time i choose to go back after horrible experiences was to take my wife for her first visit on her birthday. But, hey i can absolutely state that Chef Noble is a very personable guy. Very likeable. But maybe his unexpected success has him hobnobbing too much with the patrons and not paying attention to the cooking? As for the servers? not their fault. They can only be as good as management dictates and after witnessing management basically clueless on how to run a front end well, one can not expect too much. Will i be back? probably. After reading every review here, i must be just plain unlucky. Surely, i have to experience great service and great food combined at least once, right? Its my birthday this week, i think i will treat my wife to a short walk for dinner. i am sitting at the bar and i am eating chicken. read more

I went for dinner on a Friday with friends for a birthday celebration. Eight people in party with a deposit required to hold our reservation. We had a seating for 5:30 and were told we had to be out by 7:30 for the second seating. Arrived and we were seated at a long table in a back hallway near the kitchen. The table runs along a narrow corridor that connects the restaurant to the parkade as well as storage and wine room for the restaurant. We had constant foot traffic in and out the door during our entire dinner with people walking back and for behind one side of the table. There was also a regular odor of exhaust coming through the door when opened. Our server started out the evening by stumbling across the explanation of an appetizer as "they put some kind of spice on it...it gets covered in the type of spice..". She continued to repeat this until we gave up wondering what type of spice it really was. Another appetizer had an ingredient that we asked for an explanation. She didn't know what it was and then asked if we wanted her to check and see what it meant. She did after we stated that we would. The worst part of the meal was when two of us asked for the catch of the day. She stated it was ahi tuna served rare (as it should be). Two of us ordered the dish. When it arrived it was clearly not tuna. We waited for our server to return, which she did to ask how our meals were. We stated that the fish was not what we ordered at which she proceeded to argue that we were wrong, and it was tuna. She finally conceded to ask the kitchen. It turns out our fish was Mahi Mahi - to which her comment was "Well, it sounds like Ahi and we serve that some times so I must have been confused". After discussing how it wasn't what we ordered she asked if we wanted her to take it back to the kitchen - which I would have, except our restricted dining time didn't really allow for this. The vegetables and sauce with the fish was quite tasty but the fish was fairly salty and didn't taste very fresh. She then came back after dinner and stated "I don't want to rush you..but if you don't order desert now, you won't have time". Seems rushed to me. We all skipped desert, and headed to another local establishment for desert and after dinner drinks. Overall - a bad experience for my first visit. I spoke to the front of house manager about the server and have sent him the details as he requested. We were not offered any money off the bill only the possibility of future gift certificate/ To top it off, we were forced to pay the mandatory 18% gratuity for a party of 8 or more of which our server deserved a lot less. We were told that the staff do have 3 days of training just like most higher end restaurants but clearly there was a large gap with our server. Everyone's meal was good otherwise - the food was well done (minus the fish that was served). I would be very hesitant to return given the large amount we spent and less than stellar dining experience we had. I think I will stick with my old favorite Teatro's where the servers are professional and experienced for my next outing. read more

I went here on Saturday October 25th with my Mother for Lunch/brunch. The menu was very breakfast oriented and we were there at 1:00 looking for lunch type food. There were few choices. We finally choose the Roast Chicken panini. One with fries which were very tasty and more than ample and one with salad which was pre-dressed and the lettuces were in pretty rough shape. We found the salad tasteless and wished for the salt and pepper which is not provided on the tables at Notable. This was a my 4th or 5th visit and I am thinking my last for a fairly long time. The star of the lunch should have been the Roast Chicken panini sandwich but alas it was no star at all. Both sandwiches we made from bits of chicken that had been picked off the carcass of a roast chicken whose choice meat had been used for other purposes. I too pick a good chicken carcass clean, but I make a stew with it...I don't serve it to guests. The quantity of chicken in the sandwich was meagre at best. Notable received well over $30.00 for the two sandwiches and even in Calgary, I expected more effort and more taste and at least some choice pieces of the bird. It's sad to think that the french fries ( served with only a tablespoon of ketchup in a small single serve dish) was the best part of the meal. Not great for a Chef owned and run restaurant! NOtaBLE was not up to my expectations ...again. I think I'll give them a pass for a while and give the Chef some time to think about his overall menu and matching quality to price. read more

My wife and I are regulars at this restaurant. In fact, we love the place so much we are more than just regulars. Call us evangelists. Whenever someone asks us for a recommendation on the best restaurant experience in Calgary... guess who 'easily' comes to mind first: NOtaBLE. Consistently, time and time again, we are met with amazing staff, fantastic management, and incredible cuisine. The entire experience from entering the establishment, sitting down, ordering, watching meals being prepared in their open kitchen, sipping well-mixed drinks, eating gourmet cuisine, etc. is great. We walk away feeling extremely satisfied 100% of the time. It is a classy happening place that allows you to be as casual or formal as you want. It does not matter because NOtaBLE is all about the service, the ambience, and the food. Food is overrated. Taste ok if not bad. Nothing special. Everything is set on the menu, you can't change anything or exchange for something else on the dish which is a deal breaker. Service was okay-ish bad. I order a fish dish and it was pretty rare, I ordered medium well but the food was rare, 90% of the meat was cold and uncooked. I ate it anyway but my thought was their food was nothing special. My boyfriend order a burger. He literally left more than half of his dish untouched and we told the waitress we didn't like the food. She just said ok and left. Pretty disappointed for a high end restaurant. So long story short, started with a margarhino..which was complete perfection for $10. Moved on to a Negra modelo and the Mahi Mahi special for dinner. I was little confused when the $22 plate arrived as I did not order a small perch filet, no seriously the Mahi Mahi filet was cut long-ways, matched with other fillers on the plate but the filet itself was like 2oz. I will admit it was good but not worth the price. Wife had a chicken enchilada plate $13 that was just as good and the better deal. I wish I could comment on more of the meal options, but I am a creature of habit. I love their chicken!! Maybe I need to start going when I'm extra hungry and ordering a second entree! The food I have had there has been 5-star all the way! The atmosphere is maybe only a 4 star though. Michael's other restaurant, The Nash, is longer on atmosphere. My only critique is to come up with a better waiting area. If you arrive before your table is ready, or do the walk-in option, you often feel like a giant nuisance standing in the entry way. read more

This restaurant has consistently good food!! Their servers are professional, the food is amazing. The mussels and frites are to die for, and the prime rib with home made horseradish is melt in your mouth. Open kitchen, so you can see what is going on, a look into the behind the scenes work. My only complaint, if you don't have a reservation you will have to wait to get in, as they are always busy. That said, it is always worth the wait. Can't wait to go again!! read more

The neighbourhood is not one I normally go to, and now I am so glad I did. This restaurant is a treasure, great food, amazing service, and the deserts make me very happy. Open kitchen, which I really like. If you sit at the bar, you can see the action take place as you wait for your food. One of my favorite restaurants in Calgary to go for dinner. The atmosphere here is classy without being overly prententious. While there is almost always a crowd congregating at the door, we are always pleasantly greeted and seated immediately. We ordered breakfast and mushroom toast, and both were good. Our waitress, Sarah, was very friendly and provided excellent service, which made the experience even more enjoyable. We visited on a snowy day, and it was amazing to see the entire city covered in snow from up above. I felt like I was inside a snow globe! The whole experience was beautiful and quite romantic. I'd definitely recommend visiting this restaurant at least once if you're a tourist in Calgary. It's a lovely way to enjoy the city views while having a meal, and I think it's worth the experience!

Very fresh and delicious. . 2nd Course: Alberta Beef Tenderloin with a duck fat pave OR Pan Seared Sablefish with potato cream and bok Choy OR Roasted Chicken with potato cream. - the best was the beef tenderloin, so juicy and delicious. The chicken was tasty but the sauce was a little too sweet. Fish was good but not enough flavor. . Third Course: Chocolate Crème Caramel OR Pumpkin Baked Alaska. Tried this today, this was really good. Our server Adriana was attentive to our needs, this was brunch, so it was very quiet atmosphere not a lot of noise around as we were able to enjoy our conversations not only with the adults, but the grandchildren as well.
