I've been to this skincare clinic since 2019. I actually discovered it through Groupon when I was searching for facial with extractions. Not Your Basic Chic was close to my work so I gave it shot. After my first visit, I was hooked. Let's get the facts out of the way. This is not a big salon so dont expect a maze of multiple rooms. Appointment is a must as the specialist performs her services in one private area inside a humble office space. And trust, you will come out glowing after one session. My first couple of visits were for extractions and folks, my skin looked absolutely flawless after the sessions. Even my co-workers mentioned to me that my face looked so clear. My 3rd visit was for microdermabrasion which I've never done before. I was super stoked days later on how my oily skin really improved. I get a lot of blackheads and her skills sucked them right out. Yes, it sounds gross but I kid you not, my skin looked smoother and my pores were so much better. I highly recommend this skin clinic. It's private, clean and the specialist is super friendly. I was very fortunate to find Not Your Basic Chic on Groupon, and they were offering an amazing deal for facials with extractions. Overall, I was happy with the results from the facial. My face definitely felt clearer, and my pores could breathe! The woman doing my face had recently moved from LA and was very knowledgable about skin and the industry. A few IMPORTANT Elite tips: 1. You MUST bring cash for tip. This includes when you purchase a Groupon. I wish they were more specific in the text message they sent me, because they only said something like "we don't put tips on credit cards". So, I assumed that I could send an Apple pay, Venmo, PayPal... because other spas in Miami offer it. Usually if a place only accepts cash a tip it's better to just say that flat out, so it's not even a question. I wish I could have given her a tip, but there wasn't even an ATM close by and I felt bad because I would have definitely left one. 2. Metered street parking... and make sure you plan your time accordingly. It took me a ton of time to find something open. The spa is located above a small private lot, but there are not any designated spots for spa patrons... and they will tow you. I wish they told me this when I confirmed the appointment because I parked in the private lot, walked into the spa to check in at 10:00, and had to leave and go find street parking before hitting the 15 minute mark that they allow you to be late to still have the same appointment. Stressful! I will definitely return, I thought the value of the facial was great for the amount I paid. Been coming here since September for my facial and eyelash lifts. The dermaplaning facials have been a huge game changer. I love how soft and glowy my skin gets when I do them. I came in for a signature facial. Samelia is such a professional. Before she did anything she gave a a complete pre-consultation to establish my needs and desires. Absolutely no hard sale just absolute service. Extractions were great and my skin was left clear. One thing I have to say is that the facial included a neck and shoulder massage which was excellent. This has to be the worst experience of my life. If I could I wouldn't even give it 1 star. I purchased a Groupon for a classic lash extension. I show up for my appt I knock on the door bc they have it locked. No answer. I call their number, no answer. Finally they open the door while being on the phone. Not a way to greet a customer but okay. Tatiana did my lashes and she says she has 6 years of experience but did not show for it. She didn't even ask me what style of classic I wanted. She showed me the result and said she mapped it to the shape of my eye and lashes. I told her no I want a cat eye look. So she redid it and I still did not like the result bc she didn't do a cat eye. She had my lashes long inwards short in the middle and long at the end. I even showed her where she messed up and I told her I want a gradual growth, short then long then longer. She spent 3 hours doing my lashes!!!!!!! After awhile I got to the point that I just told her yeah this is fine bc I wanted to get out of there. As I'm being checked out now they want to throw at my face that what they did was a classic wet set. I did not ask for that I asked for a classic set. Then they lied and said they told me what service they were going to do and that it would be an additional cost and that I agreed to pay that amount. Ummm had I been told what I was asking for was extra I would've said don't do it. Also had I agreed, there would be no need for this review but it gets worse. Then the lady who I can only assume is the owner starts giving me attitude and says you were cheap and bought a Groupon. Then starts yelling at me and is like are you going to pay? If not get out and I will call the cops. She started getting in my face as if to back me in a corner until I got to the door and kept trying to slam the door on my face! Until finally she did and I walked away. Then I went back to ask how long do I have to wait to get these removed and I noticed I left my wallet behind so I went in to get it and she's like now you're trespassing I'm calling the cops. Once she got on the phone with them she starts saying that I'm being erratic and aggressive. Not once did I lay a hand on her like she did to me holding me back from getting my wallet. Meanwhile as she's the one yelling at me and insulting me she starts shouting irrelevant comments like how she went to the university of Florida. And I told her I don't care what school you went to I didn't ask. But if you went to school why you doing lashes then??? After I left I called them to ask for the names of the ladies that worked today and they hung up on me. Then I called again to ask and they said they can't give that information out and after asking why then she came up with an alias and said Yolanda. Anyways the treatment I received today was atrocious and I am in shock with what I just experienced. No business in the world should ever treat a customer like that. Shocked, horrified and ripped off. My daughter and I had to cancel our appointment due to Covid exposure till testing results were received. When we called to reschedule we had the unfortunate experience of speaking with someone who identified as Leah that informed us she had no record of us calling and proceeded to lecture us on how someone else could have had our previous appointment so now we'd have to pay again. This is in a small walk-up office with a curtain divider from the enterence check in. I did feel a little "cold", a little uncomfortable as I was told to keep my shoes on while I was there for a facial. Normally I'd take off my shoes and be given a blanket to relax. I read other reviewers' comments that the owner spent a lot of time on her phone and the same thing happened with me, she also said that she was texting her son as he was going home from school in the afternoon.
