The job was completed as stated and was done very professionally. I am very happy with the results and I would definitely use A1 Roofing again. Very Highly recommended.

Do not trust their word that they will make it back out. I reached out multiple times, was told "I'll have a guy come out Friday" on 3 separate occasions, and it now I'm a zero responses from them. I have been left with a half painted window and unclean job site. I will call that my mistake but it does show the integrity of this company. I wrongfully assumed that spending the amount of money we did came with integrity and customer appreciation. Maybe that's extra. ($70k+) We hired them to put a moderate sized addition off the back of our master bedroom on a ranch house. As soon as I made the final payment I was not able to get anyone out. -we were suppose to get black windows but they installed white. When it was brought up they told me they would paint them and have yet to complete that task. - they never returned to finish cleaning up the job site and fix all the dirt the moved away for the foundation.

I hate to write a bad review, but had to report my experience. I called the company for an estimate…read morebased upon great yelp reviews and reviews on Angie's List. Mr. Abate was very prompt in getting back to me for an estimate. I took off the day from work to let him see what needs to be done and he arrived on time. After the initial visit, I thought I would get an estimate in a few days, a week at the latest. However, I got no estimate. After a week, I emailed Mr. Abate after the holiday, thinking that it's a busy time for families and to take that into consideration. He replied, stating that he would get the estimate to me the following day. I told him to take his time, thinking that another week would be the maximum time that I would have to wait. Unfortunately, it's been about a month, and I still haven't received an estimate. I didn't bother reminding him again because I can take a hint. That's fine, if you don't want to do a job, just let the potential client know, so we can find someone else. I wanted to get the paint job done before some medical considerations and even getting to this point was a big deal for me due to some health issues, but I will have to delay a new paint job for a few months now because of the delay in getting the estimate back.

We had a pretty small job (my husband's bathroom), but it needed some repair work in addition to the painting since we'd had the sheet mirror that came with the unit torn down so we could replace it with a framed mirror. Anthony sent Eddie, who showed up exactly when he was supposed to, was incredibly nice (even to our overly-friendly dog) and got the job done perfectly and within record time. We had friends over for drinks the other night and my husband kept wanting to show them his beautiful new bathroom. Oh yes, and the pricing on this job was extremely competitive. I told Anthony I would happily be a reference for his company. We'll be sure to contact him the next time our entire place needs repainting.

This is a story of a leaky shower. After literally years of hiring various well regarded plumbers…read moreand handymen to try to remedy it, it always leaked again - usually in less than a year. When mold showed through the ceiling of the room below the shower and the mold remediation contractor cut through the ceiling it was clear we needed to consider replacing the shower and much of the subfloor. Serious perusing of reviews on yelp led me to JRW. Just one phone call made me hopeful. First they re- grouted the shower pan/wall connection so it could be used until they had an opening in their schedule a few weeks away to replace the shower. Finally the big day came. Joel (the owner) sent me photos (it was a tenant occupied home) everyday and explained every step of the way what needed to be done and how much it would cost. He respected my decisions. He also picked out materials subject to my approval - and I always said yes because his choices were excellent as well as in budget. I had been concerned of the impact of a big project with workers in and out every day for a week or so on the tenants. I needn't have worried, the day after it was complete the tenant emailed me unsolicited and said that the workers did a great job: excellent workmanship, seemed trustworthy, respectful of the tenants and house, cleaned up everything and though they hope no more issues arise, they said if workers are ever needed there again they would hope it's the crew from JRW. Two small issues arose unrelated to this project (sticky door and gutter issue) and Joel took care of them for a minor charge. Most mom and pop landlords will tell you- the dreaded call from a tenant that something is broken causes you a few minutes of angst trying to figure out who to call to get it fixed. Now that I know about JRW, I won't feel that worry anymore.

Joel, Ed, and the others are a pleasure to work with. The first job was a master bath remodel, which came out beautiful. A few years later they replaced our 2 sliding patio doors and went the extra mile when they found out that the wood under one of them was rotted. At that time, they also repaired our ceiling which was damaged when our roof leaked. Earlier this year, they replaced a shower surround and kitchen sink. I recommend them!

Read this review before contacting Chicago Custom Remodeling!!…read more Wait. Before you read this review, first go schedule some time to meet with Al, because his schedule fills up quickly...FOR GOOD REASON. He is hands down the best contractor you could hire for your home remodel project. I really wish there were a better way for me to explain to you how good he is. Just put it this way: I am currently looking for a holy candle with his photo on it. Too far? Come on. I have seen them even with local celebrities and this guy saved my life. Still too far? Let me tell you the story. My wife and I bought our DREAM HOUSE. Well, maybe not hers, but it was for sure mine. I had always dreamed of buying a house to gut rehab that I would do with my dad. That was this house. It was a perfect prospect for a gut rehab. The only thing I thought I couldn't do myself was remove a load-bearing wall and replace it with a beam. That is how I met Al. I called him for a quote on the beam. Our first meeting was awesome. He walked me through how he would replace the beam and it was great. He then showed me that I would probably want to replace the main beam running the length of the house. At the time I didn't know how he knew to go check that beam. Soon I would learn that his years of experience serve his customers in many different ways. As he was wrapping up the first visit, he asked me about the rest of the project. I told him that I was taking care of it myself. He asked me what I thought it would cost and then he told me what he thought it would cost. His number was much higher than mine, but it made sense that it would cost that much more if I left it to a professional (remember this for later). I felt good that I could get this done, so I stuck with Al for the beams and decided to keep the rest for myself. So we moved ahead in the project and then things got a little tricky. My dad got sick. Thank goodness he is still with us and funnier than ever, but he was in no shape to be my driving force through this project. I had no clue what to do. I was working on the house on my own and dealing with a couple of contractors that weren't the best. Without my dad (who is a carpenter and had been for 40 years), I was lost. Then I thought of Al, and I remembered how great he had been with the beam and how he seemed pretty confident with how he would approach the project. I sat down with him and asked him to take on the carpentry work that my dad would have driven. He gave me the quote and how he would work the project, and light came back into my life. While he was working on carpentry, he gave me some great ideas on how we could make this project even greater. He also worked well with other contractors that I had hired. Although I didn't hire him as the general contractor, he guided me through the silly mistake I made in trying to GC this thing myself (DO NOT MAKE THAT MISTAKE). So the weeks and months passed, and the project is clipping along, but we are behind the schedule I had wanted (all self-imposed). Al knew how much my wife, kids, and I wanted to get moved into our new house. Then Al put his cape on. He worked hours that I have never seen a contractor work before. He put our project on his back and brought it home. He saw me cry when I didn't know what to do, and he saw me cry when the drywall went up and I saw the light at the end of the tunnel. I now live in the house that I had always dreamed I would have. My wife and kids love everything about the house. Many of the things that they enjoy on a daily basis would not even be here had Al not said, "how about we do this?" He has an eye for all things no matter how small or how large. The dream house that turned into a nightmare that turned into my forever house would never have been possible had I never dialed the number that I hope you did before you read this. If you have not, please call Al right now! He will treat your home as if it was his. I have actually heard him tell his team that. "Build this like you would want to live in it" Oh right, back to that number I asked you to remember. Outside of a little variance for my silly missteps. Al was dead on with how much it would cost to make this dream a reality. Finally, I would like to say thank you to Al. You changed my life. You gave me the place that I am proud to walk up to every day and call home and the place in which I will raise my kids until I send them to college. You are truly the best around.
