Re-installed windows and sliding glass door incorrectly installed by previous contractor. Rebuilt pressure treated wood deck with improved layout. Derrick's attention to detail and pride in his work translated to a solution that addressed all of my goals and helped me understand mistakes made by previous contractors. He spent hours reviewing options and brainstorming with me as more damage was uncovered and the scope had to expand as we went. I had an idea for angled steps and even though it's a bit complicated he took on the project and built some really cool stairs that make my deck unique. Design flaw in new stair layout caused base to become issue. Homeowner cleaned but step at base of new steps looks terrible. 3) casement window NOW blocked from fully opening. I have attempted to get Platinum to correct this flaw on design. Old staircase steps and railing did not interfere w window opening. The gate door and posts are leaning and uneven, and the gate that was installed was such poor quality that we ultimately had to pay another $500 to have someone else install a proper gate. That is an additional expense we should never have had to pay after already paying a premium price for a fence. The fence was also only given one coat of paint, and it is very noticeable. A second coat should have been applied, and the installer knew that. The finish is uneven and does not look like the quality of work you would expect from a company charging what they charge. We also discovered that the wrong type of nails were used, which is extremely concerning because it can affect the longevity of the fence. When you're paying top dollar for a fence, you shouldn't have to worry about whether the proper materials and installation methods were used. The biggest issue, however, is the warranty. They claim to stand behind their work, but when we brought these problems to their attention, they did not stand behind the work the way we expected them to. At this point, we've paid premium pricing, been left with poor craftsmanship and questionable material choices, and then had to spend another $500 out of pocket to correct part of the work. If you were considering them, DON'T! I strongly recommend asking exactly what materials will be used, and getting very clear information about what their warranty actually covers. For the amount of money we paid, we expected a fence that was straight, level, properly constructed, properly painted, and built to last. That is not what we received. Our first step was to call a window company, who wanted to replace all the windows for a price we were very uncomfortable paying, with the added harm of having to deal with disruption to the interior of our home (trim, paint, etc.). The windows were fine, seemed like a huge waste of money for what amounted to a piece of wood on each window that was rotted. We called RWS, they came out and told us what they do, the goal of leaving and making the windows look like new (like nothing had happened in the first place). We could not be happier with our decision to go with them. They essentially re-created each piece of the window sections from scratch, demonstrated unparalleled craftsmanship,re-caulked to seal the windows, re-painted to match the rest of the window(s)and truly left each window looking like new.
